View Full Details of Puddavine CourtVery caring and appropriate - too large portions of food - off putting and wasted
Mother has been a resident for just over two years, as a person she can be demanding and expects high standards. She is settled and happy, staff are excellent with her. She is a fussy eater but the home accommodate her wishes. Thank you for all your efforts.
My Mum had to have an emergency stay at Puddavine Court due to fracturing her fibula immediately before a family holiday. The team at Puddavine were very helpful to us in an emergency situation and were able to accommodate my Mum at exceedingly short notice. They looked after my Mum well and met her needs during a very stressful and upsetting time. All communications with Mum and with us were handled well and the care she received during her two week stay played a huge part in her recovery, enabling her to come home relatively quickly to start resuming her normal everyday life and activities. Thank you all the team!
I feel well looked after.
My stay for five days was due to building work in my home leaving it unsafe for me to stay, I found Puddavine a friendly home staff very staff very helpful, and cared for the resident in their care, they did the manager proud. Encouraging residents to come to the dining room for meals takes time and patience this home was clean and my room bright and very clean.
Staff are very courteous to visitors. My friend was freshly showered today, a hair wash. Lovely flowery garden. Christian faith respected, the home was started by a Christian mother of two leaving disabled children. I supported both of them. Attended funerals. May rooms meet in esp sensory rooms respected me sure with the residents.
My Mum was a resident at Puddavine for 5 happy years despite her deteriorating health and the intervening of the Covid years which was handled exceptionally well at the time. We were always made to feel so welcome, it really was like being part of an extended family. Also being able to take Mum out was such a blessing, this was made possible by the support and guidance of the staff who always helped to do this with good humour and kindness. Puddavine exceeded my expectations in many ways but particularly the standard of cleanliness, the cleaning team are amazing and such a lovely friendly bunch, Mum loved to chat to them as they went about their duties. There is a lovely visitors room with tea and coffee and the well kept garden was also a place Mum loved, we often joked we didn't need a membership for protected sites! The friendly smiles and kind words from the staff always made such a difference to Mum's world and ours. Puddavine really did feel like home, not a Home.
If I could give no stars I would. Accommodation is not fit for purpose for a disabled person. No disabled bathroom, no room for a wheelchair or walking frame. Torn blinds on the windows, etc. Clothes went missing. Buzzer not responded to in a timely manner even when lying on the floor after a fall. The overall facilities are worn and in need of refurbishment. All staff with the exception of two self-important members, tried their best but you cannot overlook the poor accommodation and facilities. Had I not been so ill, I would not have left my partner there - simply shocking.
I would like to share my wonderful experience of this care home. The staff are so client-centred and they ensured that my father-in-law was cared for, not just physically, but emotionally too. I can honestly say that the staff there genuinely cared for my father-in-law, and he really appreciated the level of the care given. I was so impressed with the warmth the staff showed my father-in-law and it didn’t stop there, they were very kind and caring to all my father-in-law’s family. They always made us feel welcomed when we visited and made us cups of tea and always offered us meals during mealtimes. I work for the NHS and often worked late, they always made me feel welcomed when I turned up after 6:00 pm or early in the morning to see my father-in-law. I just want to thank the staff and their managers for giving both my father-in-law and his family, a good experience of him being in a care home. I will speak of my father-in-law’s experience there with fond memories.
I am writing to let you know how well the staff at the care home cared for my late father. They were fantastic. He was there for nearly five years. Towards the end of his life in July, the nurses and manager were so great and caring. They couldn’t do enough to make his last days as comfortable as possible. I would highly rate this care home to others who are thinking of care for their parents.
Very friendly staff, efficient and helpful. I visit weekly and it's a pleasant atmosphere each time. They attend to residents that call them in a friendly manner. It's lovely that there is music playing in the lounge and it's always clean. Never smells of wee. Experienced that in the past when working for a pharmacy and it's never overheated in Puddavine.
My mum was a resident at this care home for just over three years and Mum really enjoyed her stay there. The staff always go above and beyond what they have to do, they are all so kind and caring. During Mum's end-of-life care for her last ten days, I would never be able to describe all the lengths they went to, to ensure Mum was in a comfortable and loving environment. Their kindness and attention were faultless and they made us so welcome on our visits. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone if you want safety, love and caring for your loved ones, this is where I would place them.
Mum has been very happy here for 4 years. The staff are very caring and always do their best. My mother has a lovely room overlooking the tree and garden at the front. It is light sunny and always kept clean. The WiFi being somewhat erratic is a very small issue and sometimes clothes shrink or get lost in the wash. But the food is pretty good and Mum seems healthy and well cared for. It is peaceful and restful. My mother and father-in-law were also residents here and we had the three of them here until they died. They do provide activities, quizzes and singing for those that like this. My mother is not terribly interested though. The staff have been brilliant during the Covid pandemic keeping everyone safe and happy and it can’t have been easy. Now I can visit again indoors and hold Mum's hand again, I am very happy.
I would just like a write a review. One of my close relatives is staying within Puddavine Court. When I’ve been able to speak to her she has always told me about a certain night staff carer. She sings his praises every time I speak to her for his kindness and patience. I would just like to personally say thank you. During Covid-19 it has been very hard to know if my family and friends are safe, this gives me the reassurance I needed. So please thank him for his hard work. It isn’t going unnoticed.
My mother moved into Puddavine last summer. She had recently been widowed and was grieving her husband. The staff have been sympathetic and caring, helping her to settle in her new home with some of her own furniture and paintings around her. It is lovely to have her so near to me, and even though visiting is currently restricted, I know that she is well cared for. My mum is very bright and alert, and she very much enjoys the stimulation provided by the quiz sessions. The Wi-Fi provision is the only snag as my mum likes to use her iPad a lot, although I am hoping we can remedy this at some point. Thank you for all the precautions and care you are all taking.
My mother has been at Puddavine Court for 2.5 years now. She has received excellent care. The staff are always friendly and helpful and they have done brilliantly through the pandemic, remaining calm and facilitating Covid-safe visits for their residents.
My wife suffered a stroke in 2018, deteriorated and has been at Puddavine Court as a resident since February 2020. She has now got worse and recently had to move to a nursing home. Both she and I are going to miss the wonderful staff and the exceptional care that she received. If anybody reading this has a relative going into the home, try not to worry, all the staff from top to bottom really care for the residents. On behalf of my wife and myself I would like to thank them for the treatment she has received. Thank you all.
After a spell in hospital, my father was placed into the care of Puddavine Court under the intermediate care scheme, with a view to getting him back home, but unfortunately, it became clear to all concerned, that my father was unable to return home and be safe in his home environment, so now he finds himself a permanent resident, he is now settling in well. The environment that all the residents are in is exceptional. I find the staff at Puddavine Court very helpful, compassionate and friendly, like one big family. I love visiting the home not only to see my Dad but I also like to have a chat with all the other residents and staff and I feel that this type of environment is lovely for everyone. It is nice to see that there is currently an effort to help expand the minds and thinking power of the residents with quiz afternoons and it also great that visitors are encouraged to join in also. Keep up the good work Puddavine.
Following a serious operation, I arranged for my mum to stay for a couple of weeks at Puddavine Court for respite care. She was supported in her recovery with vigilance and warmth by each member of staff. I felt able to breathe knowing that my mum was safe and so genuinely cared for. Staff were in regular contact with me, reassuring me about my mum. I visited every day and really felt part of a huge family!
The staff gave my father a very warm welcome on the occasion of his arrival and have cared for him in a warm and person-centred manner. The staff are pro-active, friendly and provide a safe and supported environment.
