Dad has been at Friar's Lodge for over 8 years now. I cared for him at home for 7 years prior so it was a very difficult decision to have to make when vascular dementia took hold. Yet, I could not have been luckier than to find Lucy and her team. They know him well and his needs are not just met, but
often anticipated. They are welcoming and friendly to visitors even when clearly busy.

Patricia has been a resident at Friars Lodge from 2019 until last month. Its extraordinary that the support and service provided has been so consistently good over such a long period of time. This is primarily due to the qualities of the staff and their retention so that throughout this long stay they
have been able to understand Patricia and care for her so very well. We are so very pleased to have found such an excellent care home for my sister in such a difficult time of our lives.

Wonderful staff who care deeply for the residents. It feels like they are part of our family in a way. Rooms are cosy, warm and ours set out with family artifacts.. My mother-in-law lived there for 6 years and she was very happy there, making many friends with the carers and management. Thank you from

From the moment our mother entered Tudor House, we knew she was in safe and caring hands. The staff showed such warmth, kindness, and genuine compassion, not only towards her but to all of us as a family. In her final days, their care went far beyond what we ever expected - they brought comfort, dignity,
and peace at a time when we needed it most.
What touched us deeply was how the staff didn't just provide care; they became like friends. Their presence, patience, and gentle words helped us through an incredibly difficult time, and for that, we will be forever grateful.
If you are looking for great care, empathy, and support, I would really encourage you to consider Tudor House. My only regret is that our mother was not under the care of this home much, much sooner.

The staff are always welcoming when I visit Dad, and the home itself is small enough that everyone feels like one big family. All the staff treat Dad with so much care, compassion, patience and dignity - nothing is too much trouble. There is an excellent staff to resident ratio, and always members of
staff to assist if needed. The manager is amazing - so lovely, calm and approachable. She always keeps us informed and is very proactive at ensuring all of Dad's needs are catered for. Dad is very happy and settled at Friars Lodge, and we honestly believe he couldn't be at a better place.

A very good experience overall.
Very caring and compassionate staff, who treated our loved one with dignity and care right up to the end of life. It's a relatively small care home, which allows for more personal care, meaning the staff spend time getting to know the resident and their family well.
They have a good relationship with the local doctors and nurses-a much better experience than our previous one in another care home prior to Tudor House.


The care staff are very experienced and have been working at Tudor House for some time. Great homemade meals, prepared by the chef and the team.

My mother has been in Friars Lodge since June 2022, and we are so pleased we chose this home. We chat with the managers and staff whenever we're there. The continuity of staff is excellent - reflective of a stable, happy team. Mum is really well cared for. I get regular updates on even little things.
They do craft, keep fit, take trips to the glorious park 2 minutes away and even Elvis comes every now and again! Their own rooms are lovely. The main room is light and sunny. The staff do their admin in the same room, so the residents are continually looked after. They work really well with the local surgery and other care staff. My brother and I are really pleased mum is being so well looked after.

My brother was at Tudor House for the past 4 years, until he sadly died in February of this year. The care he received was second to none, especially during his last few months. The staff are so friendly to both the residents and the resident's family, always making us feel welcome with a lovely cup
of tea and friendly conversation. The home itself was really clean and tidy and the manager was always on hand with any
concerns I had - she would do her best to resolve them and keep us informed. I've been to visit friends in more up-to-date, larger care homes, but they are so cold and unwelcoming in comparison to Tudor House's homely atmosphere. My brother was happy living there and I felt relaxed knowing he was being taken care of so well. Thank you all.

This was our first experience of respite care for our mother. Tudor House was very considerate to her needs. Carers were all very friendly and Mum was very appreciative of the care they gave her and her needs, made her feel very welcome. She enjoyed her meals (she wasn't eating well before because of
being poorly). Her legs improved and sores disappeared. Ideal place to have in mind going forward and a good experience and happy for all.

Mum became a resident from August 2019 until she passed away 6 weeks ago. Following a hospital stay in May, her health rapidly declined, and it was very evident she was sadly approaching end-of-life. At this point, my relationship with the care manager and her deputy had all but completely broken down.
We couldn't ask anything about Mum's deteriorating health without being met with an aggressive response. Even when Mum passed away, it was a phone call informing me that she had stopped breathing! Very cold with no words of sympathy offered. When we arrived to clear Mum's room, her name sign was even removed from the door whilst we were inside. Couldn't this have waited until after we left? No sympathy card was sent and no follow-up about her funeral. Sadly, as far as the management is concerned, Mum was merely a source of income, and when this was coming to an end, the manager displayed a complete lack of professionalism. A very sad end considering Mum had been resident there for almost 5 years.

Unable to get through to the hospital & on holiday our manager, who was off duty and not on call, visited the hospital immediately to get you an update. We hoped our prior meeting with you had given you the chance to have your concerns acted upon, we apologise if we could have done more. We will review with the team who were on duty that, as this contact was not by Management. Our residents are never seen as simply income we are sorry you have been left feeling like this. We attempted to phone you to offer our condolences & ask about arrangements, the call was not answered, we assumed our contact was not wanted. We will follow this up with an email to ensure our message is received. We have now installed call recording to ensure our communications are able to be fully reviewed.

Mum has been resident in The White House for 1 year this month as she needs 24-hour care and supervision. We couldn't be happier with the care she is receiving. The management team are brilliant, between them and the seniors there isn't anything that can't be sorted. We are kept fully informed of what
happens with Mum, we get regular newsletters, phone calls and emails. They have been fully supportive of us personalising her room so she feels at home and comfy. The range of activities on offer is good, they even have an external art and craft company come in to do sessions! They have also been doing planting in the garden getting it summer-ready which she loved. Mum has been on outings, gone for walks and been to Church, they have singers come in and they put on a great family and friends Christmas get-together with the residents. The staff team at The White House are all really friendly and good at what they do, they genuinely care and understand Mum well and she's happy there.

My Mum arrived here 3 days before Covid lock down, so the last 3/4 years have been a difficult time for everyone. The Staff were most helpful in helping with phone calls during quarantine, despite her hearing loss. They continue to be understanding and compassionate as her health/dementia deteriorate.
They all seem like a happy team which adds to the positive atmosphere which we experience when we visit.

My mother is receiving good care and attention. The home is not purpose-built and does need some TLC.

My mum was on palliative care and bed bound. She had mixed levels of care, depending on who was working. She was on purée food but still given biscuits. She couldn't reposition herself in bed but was given a lidless cup. A little thought when dealing with her would have been helpful. Mum passed away
at the end of October. Staff were very kind to her in her final days. I think the shortcomings were due to lack of training and guidance for staff, especially new staff.
