Family-owned Rayners (Extra Care Home) Ltd runs a purpose-built residential care home for older people in Amersham, as well as luxurious assisted living apartments on the same site.

Excellent respite stay post knee operation for 2 weeks in Dec. 2025 and 2nd stay (for 3 weeks) in April/May 2026 following serious falls requiring A &E on 3 occasions plus a number of minor falls.
The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient; the residents, mostly older and the majority women,
were sociable & friendly.
The care was outstanding and the food was generally very good, with alternatives if a menu dish was incompatible with my diet.
In summary, I would definitely come again when appropriate.
Thank you to all the Residents & Staff at Rayners for making me so welcome.

My mother has been a resident for 16 months. We cannot praise the staff highly enough. They are kind, supportive, interested and caring both to the resident and to the wider family.
In our experience, each resident is treated with dignity and respect and given the physical and emotional support they
need.
There is a very welcoming and happy atmosphere in the home. There are lots of activities and my mother and we have very much enjoyed the special and birthday events they put on.
Staff really listen and from our experience, when a resident makes a suggestion they do their best to implement it. The monthly newsletter with not only all the activities for the month, but also news is helpful for both my mother and for us.
We and she remain very pleased that we chose Rayners.

My stepmum was so well cared for at Rayner's. The staff were kind and considerate and always went the extra mile to ensure that she was happy. I would definitely recommend Rayners to anyone who requires who requires someone they love to be cared for properly away from their own home.

It is a stressful time for aging parents and their loved ones to make the decision to move to a residential care home. Rayners and the exceptionally loving and caring staff made the process as good as it could possibly be. My father settled in quickly, was comfy, happy and loved the staff. We

My granny used to come to this home for respite to see if she likes it and then settle down she starts living there. Joined in with activities and had her hair done. Listen to music in her bedroom. Visited my mum for Christmas and birthday. She went to the Lantern Club.

Dad moved to Rayners in 2022 and resided there until he sadly passed away at the end of 2024. The level of support and care Dad received from the moment he moved into Rayner's was incredible. The home is very well maintained, the staff very attentive, professional, and highly qualified, and consistently
go above and beyond. The food is varied and of a very high quality. The gardens are well maintained, and there are always activities available. Towards the end of Dad's life, the staff couldn't have been more attentive and caring, their compassion and support at such a difficult time was outstanding and will always be appreciated and remembered. Thank you.
I highly recommend Rayners Care Home.

I have been here 3 and a half years and really have loved my time at Rayners. Recently however there has been a drop in your standards which has upset me, please don't let this happen.

Dad's illness came on very quickly and Rayners couldn't have been more supportive to expedite a fast admission to their home. Despite him wishing to spend his final years there, he only managed one week before his passing, but the care he received during that time was exemplary. He always looked so
comfortable and all aspects of his care were managed with professionalism and compassion. The support to us, the family, at this difficult time was outstanding and will always be remembered. I can't recommend this home highly enough.

The end-of-life care provided to my mother was second to none and I cannot praise the staff at all levels in the home highly enough. Mum spent 18 months at Rayners and was made so welcome and cared for so well that she was delighted to call it home. The support given and compassion shown in her last
few weeks, the hugs and kisses she was given helped her and us, her family get through a very difficult time.

When it became clear that my mother had to move out of her home, initially on a temporary basis, a family friend steered us in the direction of Rayners, which we visited and chose. The whole ethos of Rayners, including the staff is resident centric. Residents are welcomed and cared for as part of the
family and importantly as an individual.
My partner and my daughter-in-law both have professional experience of visiting care homes. Both agree this is the best care home they have visited and an exemplar of what an excellent care home should be.
It took a long while for Mum to settle down and with the patience and attention of the staff, she is now engaged in life at Rayners and enjoys the strong relationships she has with the staff.
The food is very good, the safe-guarding procedures watertight and the medical and medication supervision extremely conscientious.
We are very lucky to have found Rayners indeed.

My 93-year-old mother has been a resident at Rayners for 3 years. I can't praise the friendly and professional staff highly enough. The care, kindness, comfort and atmosphere my mother receives on a daily basis is outstanding. When she first arrived from hospital she was so frail, we thought she wouldn't
be with us 3 nights let alone 3 years! She now feels so much at home and wouldn't be anywhere else. Her recovery was truly incredible. It's a joy to visit her and we have peace of mind for the first time in a very long time after trying to care for both her and my late father in their own home. I highly recommend Rayners (Extra Care) Home.

My father came straight to Rayners from hospital. He has lived in this area for the last 50 years so we were delighted to find somewhere he was familiar with.
He always said he didnt want to go into a care home so we were a little concerned how he would feel. We couldn’t have been more wrong because
he has settled in so well.
This is due to the lovely, kind friendly staff.
He says he couldn’t ask for anything more.
The food is delicious and homemade, he has been encouraged to join in the activities which has really helped his confidence and mind.
He loves to walk with his zimmer around the pathway - looking at the fish and birds.
We as a family are delighted with his progress.
His well-being and safety are our main concerns.
Thank you Rayners for giving us our dad back!

My mother passed away in January 2024 and all the staff at Rayners looked after her in her final days with care, respect and love. My mother lived at Rayners for 3 years since she had a fall at home and was unable to return home after leaving hospital.
After an initial settling-in period, she was so
happy there and was always saying that there was nowhere better to live. The managers run Rayners in a very professional manner and their every action is carried out with the residents in mind.
The manager and her staff are so caring and respectful to all the residents and really do make it 'a family home for all'.

I joined my mother for Christmas dinner, it was a shambles disorganised, with no music, no atmosphere, and giving medication to the residents during their Christmas dinner so they couldn't relax and enjoy their Christmas Day celebration. No music, carers shouting at each other and putting the residents
on different tables, unfortunately, if my mother is there next year we will definitely not be having Christmas dinner at Rayners. We will book a hotel.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to meet with you and your family this weekend to discuss the areas of concern that you have raised in further detail. As we discussed we will also formally respond to your review, to detail the points we discussed with you both.
Regarding the music and atmosphere, the feedback that we have from our residents is that they do not like to have music playing whilst eating meals in the dining area, as this can make it difficult to hear conversations around the dinner table. We will of course raise this at the next committee meeting to see if this is still the case and if they would like to make an exception for Christmas Day or any other event.
Many of our residents need to take medication and we will always ensure that we follow the medication schedule set by the GP team, thus making it necessary to administer medication during the lunch service.
Christmas as in any household can sometimes be a little hectic on Christmas day as we have many family members joining their loved ones for dinner and also many residents who are visiting family over the Christmas period and need medication and care handovers, we always maintain an open door policy for family members to visit. During the Christmas period we have provided a vast array of different Christmas activities and productions which has been welcomed by all our residents and we have had very positive feed back from residents and families alike.
We will of course take your review to the residents committee meeting to discuss any further improvements that can be made to the Christmas day experience.
Please be assured that any issues that you may have can be directly addressed through our complaints procedure as advertised and displayed around the home alternatively please report any issues to a member of the senior management team so that we can rectify any problems swiftly.
We are glad to hear that this was just a one-off experience and that you and your mother have not experienced any negative visits previously. We do hope that you will continue to enjoy the standard of our complimentary hospitality that we are pleased to provide family members.

My nan thoroughly enjoyed her time at Rayners. She was cared for with dignity and kindness to the end. My mum spent just over three years at Rayners Care Home and always felt safe and well cared for. She enjoyed the activities and the entertainment provided. The food was of a very good standard and it was particularly nice to be able to join her for lunch sometimes too. A wonderful, caring care home.
Mum was lucky to spend her last few years in such a nice environment.

Rayners Care Home is an 'extra care home' and all staff are encouraged to take ‘extra care’, manifesting gracious behaviour and a welcoming smile to all residents. Dealing with residents’ problems, healthwise or other, or to those who are particularly vulnerable is given with much sensitivity. Activities
form a vital part of the day. Staff are encouraged to have fun with the residents, but at the same time to be unobtrusive in their handling of residents' care needs. Dealing with residents’ problems, health-wise or other-wise are clear priorities.
My fellow residents and I are happy to live at Rayners.
