My mum has recently completed her third respite stay at Barton Lodge, and once again the experience has been exceptional. Knowing that Mum was in such caring and capable hands, especially while I was away, gave us both tremendous peace of mind.
From our very first enquiry through to collecting Mum
at the end of her stay, every member of the team showed genuine warmth, kindness, and professionalism. The care staff have been outstanding-consistently gentle, respectful, and attentive, always providing support with patience, dignity, and a smile. Their compassionate approach helped Mum feel valued, comfortable, and secure throughout her stay.
Her room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and well maintained, giving her a real sense of home. The atmosphere throughout Barton Lodge is warm, welcoming, and reassuring.
Mum enjoyed the varied programme of activities, especially the talks. The food was another highlight, with an excellent and varied menu that encouraged her to eat well. Regular mealtimes and the opportunity to socialise with other residents in a friendly dining environment brought structure, companionship, and enjoyment to her days.
We cannot recommend Barton Lodge highly enough and are very grateful for the exceptional care and support shown to us both.
Reply from Amanda Cooper, Manager at Barton Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful feedback. It truly means a great deal to all of us at Barton Lodge.

Would definitely recommend Woodley. Staff are caring and know residents well. Manager always quickly acts on requests or queries. For example: My mum has moved rooms this month to become more independent. She can now access dining room and lovely garden on her own, but carers are always on hand if needed.
This has been facilitated by manager and staff. Hospital appointments and medication organised well. Excellent communication between Manager, finance officer, CTMs and us. Activity manager organises varied and interactive activities and events. This month alongside daily activities( which are geared for dementia) my mum had been taken to Romsey on a history tour, strolls in local neighbourhood and been visited by Romsey Bikers! Staff are proactive at including everyone. We are always welcomed warmly and invited to many events over the month.
Reply from Loraine Tabbner, Manager at Woodley GrangeWhat a beautiful review. Thanks for taking the time to review the team at Woodley Grange. I will pass this on to the team.

My mum has been in Woodley Grange now for 4 years. She has been so settled and happy. Whilst her dementia has obviously worsened over the time, her happiness and care has been unwavering. Woodley Grange is always exceptionally clean with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff are caring, approachable
and make all residents feel included and happy. The entertainment program is varied and makes sure that all residents are engaged.

My parents moved into Barton Lodge 6 months ago and we are very happy we made this choice. It was difficult to find a home that could comfortably accommodate a couple but we were fortunate to get 2 adjacent rooms so they can share a bedroom and have their own separate lounge.
The assessment and admission
process was managed very efficiently. My parents were very anxious about moving but all of the staff are amazingly kind and welcoming.
The food is excellent. Personal care is delivered discreetly and compassionately. The home is always clean and tidy. I am kept up-to-date with any changes. My phone calls and emails are always dealt with promptly.
Because they are a couple mum and dad tend to keep to themselves but the staff continue to encourage them to join in activities and they now seem to be taking part more often. There are always a variety of activities every week.
Thank you so much to the whole team.
Reply from Amanda Cooper, Manager at Barton Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review.

We understand that moving into care can be a significant transition, especially for couples, so it is wonderful to know that the adjoining rooms have provided the comfort and independence your parents were looking for. Your comments about our team, the quality of care, food, cleanliness, communication, and activities mean a great deal to us.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for your trust in us. We will be sure to pass your lovely feedback on to the entire team. It is a privilege to care for your parents, and we are committed to ensuring they continue to feel happy, supported and at home with us.

It has been the same for more than 2 years. As an Occupational Therapist, I have worked in many care settings over many years. I can see my mother is in the best home possible, her hair is always done, nails painted, dressed smartly, while her dietary needs and choking assessment needs are met. My mother
has had lots of falls, and every effort has been made to reduce the risk while encouraging her to remain as mobile as possible. The home fulfils all the allocated activities in the weekly timetable, with many options available. I'm always made to feel welcome at any time of the day. I'm always informed of changes concerning my mother or the home, either by phone or email. I'm regularly invited to meetings and encouraged to discuss things that have gone well or not so well. I would happily and confidently recommend the home to family and friends, highlighting the warm and friendly atmosphere. It is a care home, but most of all, it's a home that cares.

Barton Lodge Care Home

We knew we had found the right care home for my Grandmother the minute we walked through the door. The atmosphere was friendly, warm, kind, and welcoming.
Sadly, my Grandmother was only a resident for less than two weeks before she passed away. However, during that short time, the care she received,
was truly exceptional. The team stepped in when we were no longer able to care for her at home, making what was an incredibly difficult decision for us, so much easier.
The end-of-life care was outstanding. As a deputy sister working in a specialist palliative care hospice, I have extensive experience in this area. I never felt the need to disclose my professional background because the staff consistently delivered compassionate, skilled and attentive care, ensuring that my Grandmother remained peaceful, comfortable, and dignified throughout.
The home not only cared for my Grandmother, but for us as a family as well. Nothing was ever too much trouble and I cannot ever thank them enough.
Reply from Amanda Cooper, Manager at Barton Lodge Care HomeDear Louise,
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and heartfelt words.
We are deeply honoured to have been able to care for your grandmother during such an important time, and we are pleased that you felt confident in the care and support provided. Knowing that she was comfortable, peaceful, and treated with dignity is always our highest priority, and it's very reassuring to hear that this was reflected in your experience particularly given your own professional background in palliative care.
We also appreciate your recognition of the support given to you and your family. We understand how difficult these moments can be, and it is important to us that families feel cared for and supported throughout.
Your kind words will be shared with the team. Thank you again for your trust and for allowing us to be part of your grandmother's journey.

Having been there briefly for respite a few years ago, Dad has recently moved in to care at Barton Lodge.
He had a lovely welcome back with many of the staff remembering him. It was a reassuring sign to see the friendly familiar faces.
In his short time back there, he has settled in quickly and any
worries I had were quickly put to rest.
He is clearly being very well cared for.

My mum has been a resident at Woodley Grange for four months now. So glad we chose this home over other more expensive options. They really do live up to their motto, "loving care matters". A fun, well-organised and structured group of staff. Always engaging with residents. Plenty of activities. Staff
have been able to accommodate all the nuances of care we gave mum when she was living with us. A big thank you to the team.

Dad has been in care for 6 months now and sees Woodley Grange as his home. He frequently says 'I'm alright here' which is very reassuring. Staff work fantastically together. As well as confidently managing the challenges of dad's physical and cognitive decline, I have seen staff treat all residents
as human beings with dignity and respect. I feel they have got to know dad really well, he has made some good friends and I am always welcomed as a visitor. Thank you Woodley Grange for making a difficult stage of our lives as a family the best it can be.

I went to Barton Lodge for respite following surgery. B.L staff were all very welcoming and are all efficient and caring in their roles. Residents were very friendly - It appeared well managed with happy staff. Good teamwork. Admission & discharge process easy to complete. B.L proved to be a lovely
caring home. It has beautiful gardens and stunning views over the Isle of Wight. Food was good, a wide variety & choice of menu and personal diet needs are easily accommodated. A wide choice of activities are offered.

I was struggling to find a suitable care home wit friendly and compassionate staff to provide care for my 94 year old mother. I then had the good fortune to have a friend recommend Barton Lodge Care Home. I cannot praise the manager and her wonderful staff enough. The home is situated in a great location
and very professionaly run. I instantly got a homely feeling when I entered the building and was very taken back on how friendly and chatty the residents and staff were. It was very evident that the residents' wellbeing was at the heart of everything. My mother has been at the home for 11 months. I summarise my last conversation with her 'I fell very safe and happy here. The staff cannot be more friendly and accommodating'.
