My Mum has been a resident at Damfield Gardens for almost 2 years. In that time I have observed how very much cared for she is, I know each and every staff member have a rapport with Mum and I know her demeanour with each staff member is one of happiness and love, she is genuinely loved and cared for
and all of my family members comment on how all the staff are with mum and the other residents. Mum is always clean and dressed tidy and her room impecably clean, the whole building is spotless and you always see a cleaning member or maintenance member about making sure things are all dealt with the entertainment is second to none, always something fun and engaging and have so many events organised whether it be out on a day trip or having singers or entertainers in to get the residents participating in the fun. This place is an extension of my family and they have been amazing support for all of us, it's always a joy to enter the building and be welcomed by the most amazing staff.
Reply from Alison Brownbill, Operations DIrector at Damfield GardensDear Julia,
Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. It means a lot to our entire team. We feel honoured to have your mum as part of our Damfield Gardens family and knowing that you and your family have such confidence in the care she receives is incredibly rewarding.
Our staff take great pride in building genuine, caring relationships with each resident, and it's wonderful to hear that this shines through in your mum's happiness and comfort. We're also delighted that you've noticed the effort put into maintaining a clean, welcoming environment, as well as the variety of activities and entertainment we organise.
Thank you again for your lovely feedback and for trusting us with your mum's care. We look forward to continuing to support her and your family in the future.
Warmest regards,

My mum has been in Colliers Croft for just over 2 years now and always been happy with her care! The last couple of months they have excelled! My mum had terrible pressure sores. The staff and outside staff (nurses and practitioners) helped my mum with great care and she has now recovered amazingly.
Thanks to all concerned.

Mum has been a resident at Damfield Gardens for a year now. We chose it because it is close to many of the places that have been special to her during her life as well as being a bright purpose built care home. The staff are very caring and I feel that mum is well looked after. The activities team really
take care to think about what the residents will enjoy and get a lot out of. I was lucky enough to travel first class to Zanzibar yesterday with mum - every detail was thoughtful - down to the captains message and the air hostess's hats! It was nice to have fun with mum and other residents. I am grateful to have that memory.

It's wonderful to know that the "trip to Zanzibar" organised by our activities team brought joy to you and your mum - our activities team will be thrilled to hear how much the attention to detail was appreciated!Memories like these are exactly what we strive to create for our residents and their families, and your words are a great encouragement to the whole team. We took the very difficult decision to move mum into care due to her level of dementia and wandering.
As a family, we are very happy to see mum happy and safe in her surroundings.
She absolutely loves her room and adores the staff. The staff team from the cleaning staff to the management are all
friendly chatty and very helpful.
Mum is enjoying activities and mixing with her peers after many many years of living alone.
I can't thank the staff team enough for everything they do.

Considering this care home charges £4,600 a month the cleanliness and condition of my Fathers room and bed sheets were a disgrace. No bin in the room, fridge never turned on...ever... his clothes went missing, often I found him in other people's clothes and underwear and I have lost count the amount
of times he had no socks on! We were told by the Manager that if his dementia got worse he would always have a home there and they would never move him, absolute lies. Our Father fell in their care, thus having to have a partial hip replacement and ended up in Hospital. We were then informed by email by the manager to collect his things and find him another home as they don't have the facilities to look after him since his fall. As a family we have been let down by Colliers Croft, not by the staff but by the management system. Our Father isn't aware he will be moving to a new home, we are praying that this will not be too upsetting for him.
Reply from Alison Brownbill, Operations Director at Colliers CroftPlease allow me to apologise unreservedly for the concerns you've raised. We haven't performed to the standards we set and I will address this with the relevant people. Unfortunately I cannot agree that the Manager said your father would have a home for life. Whilst that is what we hope, we aren't set up to care for residents whose condition deteriorates e.g. very high physical needs etc. When that presents we speak to relevant people e.g. relatives, social workers and hospital assessors who may advise that the resident be transferred to a nursing home that will be more suited to provide specialised nursing care and keep the person safe. On this occasion attempts were made to contact your brother by phone following an assessment from the hospital assessor. When these attempts failed, an email conversation followed and subsequently the hospital assessment was sent to your sister. I have tried to contact you today to discuss further. If you wish to discuss further please contact me.

On entering the premises we were greeted by a warm and friendly lady. We came to visit my auntie with my terminally ill mother. She went above and beyond to help me and my sister navigate, my now wheelchair bound mother. She directed us to my auntie with compassion and empathy This may be the last time
that the sisters will be together. At the end of the visit, this lovely lady appeared again chatting to my auntie and mother like she knew them. Can't thank her enough for this heart warming

Colliers Croft at Haydock is a fantastic care home for many, many reasons. All of the staff must be praised: the carers; the managers; the cleaners and laundry staff; the reception; the kitchen staff; and maintenance man. All of the carers are very friendly and are there for my dad in so many ways.
They have gone out of their way to settle him in and understand his needs. His meals are specially prepared for his swallowing needs and the food looks delicious. Colliers is always clean, and being kept clean constantly I might add. There are many activities for the residents. The recent gala day was a great success for residents and their families thanks to the hard work of the staff. There is a lovely family feel at Colliers, so that from the minute you enter, to leaving, you feel very welcome - like it's your own home. My dad is very happy there as he knows he has 24 care and support. Colliers Croft gives high quality care to its residents in luxury surroundings. Thank you all so much!!

A Heartbreaking Experience at Colliers Croft Care Home
Making the decision to place our dad in a care home was incredibly difficult, but we were reassured by the manager and staff that it would be the right choice for his dignity and well-being. Unfortunately, the last six months of his care at Colliers
Croft turned into a nightmare for both him and our family due to severe neglect. He lost over 2 stone in weight due to being confined to bed for a six weeks period due to the unavailability of lifting aids. This lack of equipment delayed necessary movement and care when this should have been provided in a timely manner. As a result, we had no choice but to transfer him to a nursing home because of his rapid deterioration. We have since submitted formal complaints to the CQC St Helens, safeguarding authorities, and quality regulators regarding the unacceptable conditions and mismanagement we witnessed.
Given our experience, we cannot recommend this care home to anyone's loved ones.
Reply from ALISON Brownbill, Operations DIrector at Colliers CroftWe always aim to provide the most individualised care possible. However, we are a residential care home and do not have nurses on staff. We assess referrals to ensure we can meet the individuals needs. Sometimes, a residents condition can deteriorate faster than expected, and they then require nursing care. When that happens, we contact the Local Authority, who begin the process of arranging a move to a nursing home. We have no control over the speed of this transfer, which is managed entirely by the Local Authority and can, regrettably, take months. There are times we may not meet the high standards we set for ourselves. When this happens, we apologise and use the feedback to make necessary improvements. We understand how upsetting the situation with Mr Ss father has been for him and his family. We offer our sincere apologies to Mr S and his family and genuinely wish them all the best for the future. Mum has been a resident here for 16 months.
Her room is warm, clean, comfortable and safe. The home itself is bright and airy with pleasant dining and lounge facilities as well as quiet rooms. The staff are responsive to all her needs and assist with all aspects of daily living. I have found all staff
members to be friendly, responsive and supportive - which gives me great comfort. There is easy and open communication with everyone from the manager to reception. The senior carers provide regular updates and will rapidly respond to any concerns or care needs. Weekly ward rounds are provided by the local GP practice which offers a high standard of medical care, fully supported and implemented by the care home staff. Weekly hairdressing and monthly podiatry are also available. Although Mum doesn't choose to join in with activities, there are several options available. Mum's only complaint is the quality of food; this has been addressed by direct communication with the kitchen staff.

Dad was well fed, cooked breakfasts, good meals. The staff cared for and loved Dad as if he was their family member. I cannot
thank or praise the hardworking, kind and genuinely caring staff enough. A true caring home from home.

I am always happy to notice and care, and the friendly approach of the carers. They are always on the lookout for residents who might just like a chat. They are always eager to help visitors. The atmosphere in the lounge is good. The decor for special occasions is really lovely - high-quality work.
