Stobars Hall is a lovely building in a beautiful setting providing a great welcome to all. It is very comfortable and feels very safe. There are lots of activities for the residents to engage with creating a happy atmosphere throughout. The staff are very friendly, caring and attentive. Lots of choice
on the menu with a variety of home cooked food. Overall it is a wonderful home and I am happy in the knowledge my mum is safe and receiving great care there.
Reply from Janet McKenna, Director at Stobars HallThank you for your lovely review, we are very pleased that your mum has settled in so well. We will pass on your kind comments to the team.

This was the first time my husband had gone into respite and it wasent an easy decision knowing how difficult it would be leaving him.
I cannot thank everyone enough for the way you made things so much easier for the two of us the kindness consideration professional way you dealt with everything from
the offset going over and above was exceptional.
My husband enjoyed his time with everyone he loved the beautiful view from his room and I had peace of mind knowing he was being so well cared for
We both thank you all very much.
Reply from George Barr, Manager at Stobars HallThank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We understand how difficult it can be to take that first step into respite care, and we're truly grateful that you entrusted us with your husband's wellbeing.
It means a great deal to hear that our team was able to support both of you with kindness, reassurance, and professionalism from the very beginning. Knowing that your husband felt comfortable, enjoyed his time with us, and appreciated the view from his room is wonderful feedback.
We're glad we could give you peace of mind, and it was our privilege to care for him.

My 95year old father had lived with our family, for 2 years. Following a hospital stay, I felt we couldn't offer him the 24 hour care he needed, following his illness.
I was very worried about Dad going into a respite home, as we had a very poor experience at a home, when my mother got dementia.
However I could not be more delighted with the service that Stobars Hall has given. The Manager and assistant manager put us at ease from the moment we arrived. Dad's room is beautiful with lovely views, the staff, without exception have been friendly, and respectful to Dad and seem to know him well.
Due to Dad's poor memory, he was reluctant to mix with anyone outside the immediate family, while he lived with us. The staff were consistent, encouraging and after the first 24 hours, Dad made the choice to eat his meals in the dining room.
The experience has been so positive for Dad and myself, that we have made the decision that he will remain there, past his respite period.
Reply from George Barr, Manager at Stobars HallThank you so much for sharing your heartfelt experience. We're truly honoured that you chose Stobars Hall to care for your father, especially after what must have been a difficult decision following your previous experience elsewhere. It's wonderful to hear that you and your father felt welcomed and supported from the moment you arrived, and that he has settled in so well with our team and residents.

The key word about Stobars Care Home is CARE.
Every single member of staff understands that this is the the focus of their role. My sister could not have received better care during the last ten months of her life whilst she was a resident at Stobars.
The care that went into the organisation
of her 100th birthday party was amazing. The care that went into organising her room change was admirable. The day to day care of her physical, social and emotional needs was at a constant high level. The care that was offered to her and myself at the end of her life was sensitive and touching.
A few minor problems about missing clothes and hearing aids were dealt with promptly and efficiently.
Reply from George Barr, Manager at Stobars HallThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It means a great deal to our whole team to know that our care and support made such a positive difference to your sister and to you during her time with us. We feel privileged to have shared in her journey, especially celebrating her 100th birthday, which was such a special milestone. On behalf of everyone at Stobars Care Home, thank you again for your trust and for taking the time to share your experience.Warm regards,

After spending six months in hospital I came here to recuperate.Having now been here ten months and heading home soon I thought it was the right time to comment on my experience here. The first thing and the most important thing is the carers who understand that their roll is to CARE which they do to
a high standard and much better than the carers in hospital .I have had a lovely room with a lovely view . As a wheelchair user there is plenty of accessible areas outside which has greatly helped my recuperation .Closing comment about an earlier review which the resident's family criticised the management, all I can say is that in my experience here ,I don't recognise what they are saying and would recommend the home to family and friends.
Reply from George Barr, Manager at Stobars HallThank you for your kind words. We're delighted to have been part of your recovery and to hear that you've had a positive experience whilst at Stobars Hall.Your recommendation means a lot, and we truly appreciate your support. Wishing you all the best as you return home, you'll always be welcome here!

It would be useful if when going in residents were asked to attach name tags to clothing; my wife is missing some of hers and has acquired others (very good ones!) not originally belonging to her. Some items now have a label. There are difficulties with missing sticks and specs. Overall very pleased,
as is the family that, during her first year, she has been happy living at the home.
Reply from George Barr, Manager at Stobars HallThank you for your feedback! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Recently, we've introduced a new laundry system which I can show you when you are next in. We're pleased to hear that your wife has been happy living at the home, and we value the trust you and your family have placed in us. If you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Stobars Hall has proven itself to be as good as everyone says. The place is fabulous, the grounds are great, the views are second to none. The staff and management go the extra mile to make sure that their residents are comfortable and settled. The food Is very good with a good variety of choices. We
have only great things to say about our experience with every aspect of Stobars Hall. Thank you.

In my opinion the management are much better on PR than on actual delivery. The induction went well and a lot was promised in the way of activities and baths etc but little was delivered. Admittedly my mother is a difficult character and spent much of her time in her room. She is much more integrated
and takes part in activities and even outings in only a few weeks of being in her new home.
I feel that she would have received better care if she had had dementia or Alzheimer's because those residents don't complain.
Overall I feel let down and disappointed and wouldn't recommend Stobars Hall for this type of resident.

The respite stay has been very good. The staff are always available and are very helpful. I raised two issues and both were dealt with immediately. I have eaten all the food, which is very good and plenty of variety. I enjoyed the entertainment. I feel very safe at Stobars Hall.

My mother was taken in for respite so my sister (full-time carer) could have a break. The care and devoted attention given to my mother was exceptional. My mum was always comfortable and pleased with how she was being cared for. Sadly my mum passed away whilst at Stobars Hall. The support and compassion
were brilliant, thoughtful and understanding. I would recommend and praise the staff and the care provided.

She is quite contented and happy at the home. The staff, particularly the day staff, do a good job of being kind and caring. She loves her room and the fact that she is able to have some of her personal furniture in there. The manager and her team always take time to listen, and so I've any problems.

My mother was made to feel so welcome the day she arrived from the hospital. The entertainment is excellent. The staff go above and beyond expectations. They are very caring and attentive to residents' needs and also make visitors feel very welcome. Plenty of food and drinks are provided. Nothing is
too much trouble for the staff. When we visited, there was lots of singing, and my mother was joining in. It was so good to witness that. The home is beautiful nice antique furniture, and the garden is outstanding. We took Mum out in her wheelchair, and she did enjoy it. I feel confident that my mum is receiving excellent care.

My sister has dementia; she has been a resident at Stobars Hall care home since March 2021.
The staff are friendly, kind and patient.
My sister has a lovely room and bathroom, and I have been able to decorate it with some of her personal items.
My sister is very content and happy living at Stobars.

My mother has been in residence for about 3-4 years now. She has Alzheimer's Dementia and mobility problems.
She wants for nothing in this home - she is cared for, left alone or entertained as she wishes, kept warm, well fed and stimulated.
Our minds are at ease knowing she is so well cared for!
Reply from Sarah Young, Manager at Stobars HallThank you. We are delighted with your comments on your review. I will pass your comments on to the rest of the staff. Once again, thank you very much.

My brother sadly was diagnosed with an aggressive terminal illness. He moved into Stobars Hall due to his care needs. From the start, nothing was too much trouble for the manager and her team. My brother's room was lovely - large, ensuite and light and airy. He was allowed to take his large collection
of books and framed prints for the wall, which gave him comfort and familiarity in the last few weeks of his life. At a very difficult time in my life, the manager and her team were a huge help and comfort.

Assessment and acceptance into Stobars are excellent. Care and support are excellent. My mum had an incident in June clavicle; however, this was dealt with by management and the GP very well. My mum always seems happy and settled. Communication regarding my mum is very good from the management. Overall,
Stobard is very friendly and homely, and my mum receives good care. Friendly and supportive from all staff. Management is excellent and very approachable, and it's reassuring my mum is in good hands. Thank you.
Reply from Sarah Young, Manager at Stobars HallThank you for a lovely review, Lyn; I must say your Mum is an absolute gem, and we all love her here. Look forward to seeing you on your next visit.

My sister was sent to Stobars Hall from the hospital, which seemed not to have capacity. She is happy and well cared for, she had company, she does activities, and they take her for walks because she loves walking. I can now visit her and enjoy our time together instead of stressing about what I'm going
to find when I go, which in turn gives me peace of mind. The manager and staff are wonderful. In fact, she is the happiest I've seen her for years. I cannot praise them enough.

I am quite happy to see my mum here; she seems very settled and happy. She has only been in Stobard Hall since May 2020. I haven't actually been in the home because of the circumstances we have been in. The only thing I am not too happy about is there is no weekend visiting, which for most families
that work, this is the best time to visit.
Reply from Sarah Young, Manager at Stobars HallHi, thank you for leaving a review In response to your comment, we do have weekend visiting, albeit for families who live further afield, who can not visit through the week due to logistics. As the country begins to open up further, we will be able to change this policy. We can offer evening visits for families that work through the week, after completing an LFT test, you can be admitted into our beautiful residence, and be escorted into your loved ones private room, as unfortunately, visitors are still not allowed into communal areas. We have to implement these measures to keep our residents safe and protected, in line with IPC governance. Please feel free to contact myself if you seek further clarification and help or to arrange a visit.
