for both of us, and understandably emotional and stressful. But Brian and his team were fantastic. He visited our mum in hospital to carry out a care assessment, offered valuable advice and guidance on the next steps, and the care team helped her settle into her room - all within just a few days.
The staff are friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Most importantly, our mum is settling in well. It's been an incredibly positive start, and we cannot thank The Gatehouse team enough.

Her room is light and airy and organised to her taste and best care interests and nothing is too much trouble. Visiting is no problem - at any time, and we have even had take-out nights in our PJs. A real home from home. She is now a permanent resident and enjoying making new friends. The coffee mornings are always fabulous, and a lovely way to meet the people caring for your loved ones. deteriorated and the staff have been totally professional in all they do. Everything is carried out with compassion and dignity always willing to go above and beyond to ensure Dad is safe, secure and comfortable. I am kept well informed about his condition when I am unable to visit him.
The cost is average for the category of home but the care is above and beyond what I expected. I was told at the outset that all care would be carried out and all I had to do was visit and this has taken a lot of stress away.
I would send my thanks to all the staff at the home for all their care, help and support over the past 14 months and I would highly recommend Hillcrest to friends and family if needed.

During the last couple of weeks, my father's health declined rather rapidly. I have to say the compassion shown to my father and us, the family, during this time was second to none. I was able to visit whenever I wished and to spend quality time with my father. On Tuesday 31st October, sadly, my father passed away. I cannot thank the team enough for the way they supported us through this very difficult time with respect, warmth and kindness. My father passed away very peacefully and I have peace in my heart knowing my father had received the very best of care throughout his time at Hillcrest.

meals and constant thoughtful care have given her a new lease of life. The home is the right size for her: small enough not to be intimidating or formal, large enough that there are plenty of people to chat to. A larger home might have more extensive facilities and activities (hence four, not five, in the scoring) but The Gatehouse makes the most of its homely and attractive site, and there are sufficient and varied events to keep residents engaged. If there are queries or problems, staff are quick to spot them, resolve them, call in medical or other help if necessary, and contact the family. I know my mother is in good hands.
