Review of Copelands Dementia and Residential Care from S O (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 2 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Exceptional team of individuals who genuinely care about the residents. The manager leads with a calm and kind approach. We are so grateful to have their expertise as we navigate uncharted waters with my father in law.

We work collaboratively to adapt the care delivered to ensure he has the best possible lifestyle after some very challenging years for him.

The food is exceptional. The cleaning is to an excellent standard and the laundry is always delivered back with extra care taken for delicate fabrics.

The on site cafe gives the residents a place to entertain their visitors, removing a feeling of it being a traditional care home setting with minimal facilities.

The communications and updates are always clear and proactive. We feel well informed and love the monthly newsletter highlighting the activities.

The staff retention rate speaks for itself. It is a tough job they have yet they always smile and make you feel no request is unreasonable. Thank you Team Copelands!

My mum has been a resident of Kirk house for almost 3 years and we are delighted with the care she receives. The staff and management are always up to date with her needs and go above and beyond to make sure of her care. Mum is always immaculate and clean with coordinating clothes and hair cared for. The flatlet is spacious and kept clean. Washing of clothes and bedlinen is better than I could do myself! The food is also good and presented well.

A very caring home and I would highly recommend it.

I have been a resident in here since January 2023. As I had lived in Cherry Valley for about 50 years, I was glad not to leave the area. Kirk House being residential offered me independent living, help when needed given thoughtfully and willingly. Kirk House gives us plenty of company, but privacy as well in our rooms. There are plenty of activities. The food, cleaning and support from staff are excellent, and as there is a meeting for us all taken by management each week where no subject is banned, we can have our say about all aspects of the home. I am so glad I chose to come here.

Kirk House provides excellent care. The home is always warm. The staff do their best for the residents. Food is fresh and tasty. The flatlets themselves could do with an upgrade of kitchenettes and shower rooms. The grounds at times need attention. In the summer the hanging baskets were beautiful. The quality of the cleaning of the rooms varies from time to time. I think this may be staff-related (ie lack of).

Thank you for your honest feedback. We are working with the housing association who manage the property to update where and when we can- It is not always easy with our occupancy always at full or not far off. We have also been fundraising to update our outside spaces so we hope to see something new on that front in the near future.

Our dad has been a resident in Copelands for over 2 years and we are extremely happy with his care.
The staff are very caring and take time with every resident and their families. The place is spotless and food varied and really good. Happy to have found it at a very hard and sad time. My dad actually improved when he became a resident which is great.

Review of Copelands Dementia and Residential Care from Christine D (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 November 2025 Submitted via Website

My mum moved to Copelands at the start of August. She had always said she didn't want to move into a carehome. However she is 90 and had fallen a couple of times and I was concerned for her safety. Now I don't think I could get her to move back to her own home even if I wanted her to. She is so settled and genuinely thriving, the staff are all lovely, from the care assistants and support staff to the managers (Gareth and Nigel), All the team leaders, Paul the chef and Jenny in the office. I thought mum would have spent a lot of time in her own room, but no every time I visit she is in the day room in Lighthouse mews household. She loves the company and I even found her joining in with a singsong lead by a carer. She loves to get her hair done and likes a visit to the on site coffee shop. There are lots of activities organised and a cinema room, although she hasn't joined in yet, I think she will. I honestly can say that I could not have found a better home for mum.

I am very pleased with the care my Mum is receiving. The ambience, facilities and activities at Copelands are excellent. The staff are, almost without exception, engaging and compassionate, and go the second mile to make sure Mum is comfortable and happy. Mum reports that the food has been varied and, in the main, very tasty. The café is such an important and appreciated resource to residents and visitors, and the shortbread and other treats are delicious.

An outstanding home. I looked at several before visiting Copelands and it was quite simply head and shoulders above all of the others that I had seen. The facilities are purpose built and to a high standard. The location is spectacular with either unimpeded sea views or unimpeded views over open countryside. The staff could not be more helpful or patient. The cleaning and laundry services are fantastic. I would confidently recommend this home to anyone.

I am very happy with all aspects of the care that mum receives at Copelands. The managers and staff have been consistently helpful, thoughtful and considerate since mum moved in, earlier this year. She has settled in well and any concerns or queries we have had have always been addressed and dealt with, without delay.

A lot of thought has clearly gone into the design of the accommodation and facilities. Copelands has a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere and our family has every confidence that mum is receiving the very best care that we could hope for.

Very lovely residential home, friendly staff, lovely food, clean, caring and our dad is being very well looked after.

Great facilities and entertainment for residents tailored to their needs.

The design of the home has also been set up for family visiting. Lovely cafe and we have been offered lunch after travelling a distance, which is great.

Mum has been in Kirk House for just over four years. The facilities are excellent and the care in Memory Lane for residents with dementia is second to none. Staff are very caring and helpful and have been supportive to us as a family also.

The set up of the home with a communal lounge in separate corridors provides a family atmosphere and there are plenty of opportunities to join in activities with residents from across the home in the common room or outside garden area, including church services, musical events, craft activities and even garden parties!

Mum moved into Memory Lane November 2024. Her Flatlet is lovely. It has been personalised with furniture photos and ornaments from her home. Mum likes to sit in the Dayroom as she loves company. She enjoys the Chair Exercises, Church Services and getting her nails and hair done every week. The Staff are brilliant. They look after Mum and she is well cared for. Mum feels safe and we have peace of mind knowing she is safe. They also look after us. Cups of tea in Dining room or if Mum has visitors in her Flatlet they bring tea. I would definitely recommend Kirk House.

A month in and we are utterly delighted with dad moving to Copelands. It really is the next level in care. Full of heart, warmth and staff who really enjoy working there. Copelands is a fine example of how care of the elderly should be provided. I did not realise that a facility like this even existed. Full marks to all the staff from the management right through to the support staff and the carers! Well done! The whole family is delighted that we found this place.
