My Father in Law has spent 2 weeks in respite over the past 3 months and he has loved it. We have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the care he received is fantastic.
We are so pleased to hear they are starting day care stays, he hopes to be able to go once a week.

We are very lucky to have this right on our doorstep and would definitely recommend.

Review of Nodens Manor from Ian T (Son of Resident) published on 25 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Our mother was very keen to move to Nodens Manor when she realized that living independently was becoming more difficult and restrictive due to her medical issues and visiting a friend who had moved there.

We took her for a visit/tour and were all very impressed, not only the facilities but also how the staff and residents interacted and the general atmosphere. Mother decided there and then that she was sure it was the right move for her and she moved in a few weeks later.

Due to memory problems she forgot all of the above and was sure that we had "put" her there against her will and was insistent she could go home and manage well on her own.

Over the past 6 months we have seen major improvements in our mothers outlook and general health. The staff have been amazing at making her feel involved and have encouraged her to join in the daily activities, she is spending much more time engaged and happy. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

Everything about Nodens is amazing.

When visiting our friend, we found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. A very safe and secure environment. The area we had to visit was fairly private and very comfortable. We were offered refreshments throughout.

My Aunt has been a full time resident for the last 6 months.
Everyone's been nothing but kind, helpful and courteous from the phone call making the initial enquiry to helping my Aunt settle into her new home.
The home and staff are extremely friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and visitors, residents and everyone I have met treat each other with respect.
The home is beautiful, just like a 5 * hotel, beautiful and clean, spacious and I wouldn't look to put myself or anyone I know in any other care home.

There are activities every day for residents to participate if they wish and family and friends of residents are encouraged to visit and participate too.

Since mum became a resident at Nodens, Lydney my family have nothing but praise for the way mum has been cared for. Initially we worried that mum would isolate herself in her room. However. we have been really surprised how well she is mixing with other residents and joining in activities. The decor is lovely, warm, light and comfortable and there is nothing "institutional". Mum really likes her room and bathroom and they are cleaned to a hug standard. The carers are excellent and nothing is too much trouble to help mum. Mum has had a couple of falls and we have been contacted promptly and updated when necessary. Mum loves the food and it's a relief that she is eating so well.

Nodens Manor is a unique residential and dementia care home on the edge of Lydney of the Forest of Dean.
in Gloucestershire. Nodens Manor is currently regarded as the Ambassadorial/ Highly regarded Flagship of the Company's  newest and latest of  two other superb quality homes based in the West of England.
It would be difficult to find a more committed experienced and friendly group of carers driven by the highly experienced management team - all of whom are dedicated to providing the very best for their residents both 24/7 night and day.
It does its very best to create kind and lasting relationships for each of their residents - including high levels of care & support as well as doing their best enabling each resident to feel wanted and cared for. The residents are given quality food throughout each day in warm, bright and very secure surroundings - negating any issues of becoming totally institutionalized or losing the resident's independence.

Review of Nodens Manor from W A (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 November 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Dad has been in Nodens Manor for nearly 10 months now and we are very happy with our choice of home for him. The environment is welcoming, friendly and relaxed and the staff are excellent with the residents, devoting time and care to them. Dad has dementia and Nodens gave him a chance when he first arrived until he settled and was on the right medication. He now feels safe and secure, loves the food and occasional glass of wine, joins in with some of the activities and in the summer, he liked to take his book outside and sit in the garden reading. I am able to have care reviews with the senior team when I request them, which is reassuring. I would definitely recommend Nodens Manor to anyone considering a care facility for those with or without dementia.

Reply from Charlotte Scarrow, Front of House Manager at Nodens Manor

Thank you W for your kind words about how your Dad has settled in over the time he has been living with us. It's always so heart warming for us to see how his character has come out over the months, and the way he always manages to find a sun spot with his book! Take care and see you soon.

My mother loved her time at Nodens Manor. The variety of activities available kept her active and stimulated. She enjoyed the food too. Her only problem was being able to switch the TV on and find the channel she wanted and then change the channel later. She needed help to do this every time. The LG system is not user-friendly.

Reply from Charlotte Scarrow, Front of House Manager at Nodens Manor

Thank you FS for your feedback on your mum's stay. We're pleased she enjoyed the activities and food. We appreciate your feedback regarding the TV's - we will investigate this matter to understand any way we can turn off the LG Smart TV system to make them more user friendly. Take care.

Caring at home for my husband who has Alzheimer's disease was/is challenging and sad in equal measure. The time came for us to find a team of carers for him. We particularly looked for places that provided a range of activities, had skilled, compassionate staff and pleasant surroundings. Respite care turned into permanent care as the move improved his quality of life.

Mum stayed for a 4 week respite stay when we went on an extended holiday. We were recommended Nodens by a friend, and we were so pleased with everything. Everyone we met was so friendly and happy to help, and mum is already wanting to go back for another stay.
We felt assured that she was safe and supported while we were out of the country, which was the best thing for us.

Mum enjoyed the choice of food with varied options each day, and she loved the Tai Chi class she joined in on! Thankyou to the entire team.

I visited Nodens Manor a number of times to see and support a friend who lived there. She was very happy during her long stay there, and well cared for in her final days. The team appeared caring, thoughtful and kind, supporting us and her with any requests. Nothing felt too much of an ask, and we were always made to feel at home as much as she was. She has a lovely room which opened onto a garden which she thoroughly enjoyed on the sunny days, and she made some wonderful friendships. We wouldn't hesitate to call Nodens Manor if we needed to come into a home one day after seeing how happy our friend was there. Thank you to the whole team for making her so happy in your care.

I supported my mum to look for a home for my Nan. From the moment we walked into Nodens Manor we were welcomed in a way that made us feel like it would be caring place for Nan to stay. The process was easy to go through and the Front of House Lady gave us all the information we needed to make a decision. The entire team were informative throughout her stay, with nothing too much of an ask.
Nan is now no longer with us, but in the time she stayed at Nodens she was well cared for and ever so happy. She made new friends and was visited by many old friends in the home, who were also made to feel comfortable during their visits.

We can't thank the team enough for all they did for Nan and us through her stay. We'd reccomend Nodens over and over again to anyone considering a place here.

Mum has resided in Nodens Manor now for 6 months as she was no longer able to live safely at home due to her dementia. We are truly thankful that we found such an amazing place for her. It is such a welcoming, friendly home, in fact, it is like one big family. We love that we can visit at any time, the staff always greet us with a smile and the care they give to Mum is outstanding! Her room, en-suite and shared areas are always spotless, the home-cooked food always smells lovely and the unlimited supply of freshly made cakes are a real treat! We cannot recommend Nodens highly enough.

My mother initially came to Nodens Manor for a period of respite care. She was greeted by lovely staff who made her feel welcome. Since then she has become a resident and is so happy, relaxed and contented. She now regards this as her home, where she feels safe and secure. As her son I visit on a regular basis and the improvement in her demeanour is brilliant. I have seen the withdrawn, person she was, become a person who loves to be involved in the many and varied activities in the home. The staff are very approachable and always go the extra mile to make sure she is OK and treated with dignity. Mum has commented that 'all you have to do is ask and it happens'! High standards of care are evident throughout the home. The building, a new build, is an example of how all care homes should be and can be regarded as outstanding in all aspects of care.
