I cannot state how amazing all of the staff and management have helped my father.
When my Dad first went into care he was unable to walk! Now he is up dancing and is integrating in activities.
I'm currently house bound with Mental Health issues and the guilt I feel not being able to see my father
is helped by the wonderful and numerous photos that are sent on the group they have set up.
The photos are amazing and I can just see the happiness on my Dads face. They are active in finding everything each individuals true likes and loves are/where and bring as much of that with their personalised interaction as possible. Thank you so much for all the hard work and effort that you put into caring for my father and everyone's else's beloved family member.

I completely recommend The Lodge, and its wonderful carers. Words struggle to convey how grateful we are that our Mum is so kindly and thoughtfully looked after, meaning that when we visit, we can just focus on saying hello etc, safe in the knowledge that everything is so beautifully organised for her.

Her room is bright, fresh and clean, and her treasured possessions are carefully looked after, and she is always fresh and clean and comfortable, whatever curved-balls nature throws at her.

Initially both our parents came to The Lodge, and they helped us when Dad got very ill, and kept Mum comfortable when we lost Dad, and were just so kind, thoughtful, and caring.

If you're reading this review, you're probably going through what we went through when picking a place for your "next stop"; well we feel this has been a great choice, and the staff are absolutely superb; every single one!

If you are thinking of The lodge for yourself or a loved-one(s), I think this place is lovely!

Mum is cared for extremely well on a daily basis. All staff are caring, friendly and helpful. Any concerns are dealt with in a compassionate manner and more importantly Mum is treated with dignity. She recently was moved from her previous room which she loves and is so much happier. Thank you to you
all.

My dad has been at The Lodge care home for 3 months now and I can honestly say I have no complaints. The staff are amazing, always there to listen if you have any concerns and act immediately to help you. The home is clean and very welcoming, they have so much going on to make the residents happy
and involved to keep their minds working. My dad is so happy here which makes me happy knowing he is well cared for, well fed and safe 24 hours a day. I can't recommend The Lodge Care Home enough, its hard to think of your parent/s going into a care home but at the Lodge you have no worries as it's just an amazing place.

Dad has been at The Lodge for just over a year now.
I can't fault the care he receives and the fact that he has a dedicated carer means that his care is personal to him. He is not just another resident.
Communication between the carers / management and resident's families is excellent and no reasonable
request is too much trouble.
The Lodge endeavours to regularly provide stimulating activities for the residents, employing a range of equipment, technologies and providers. Given the age profile of many of the residents, activities are targeted to ensure relevance, for example, the recent VE day celebration which was themed as a street party on the grounds at The Lodge.
They also try to maintain a connection between the residents and the community, often involving local schools and, where aporopriate, facilitating trips to places of interest.
Placing dad in the excellent care of The Lodge has brought peace of mind to our family, knowing he is safe, appreciated and well cared for.

It's a little tricky for me to write a comprehensive review as I don't visit Manor Rest Home very often and my brother isn't particularly communicative so it's difficult to say unless I was there for a significant time period. What I would say is that since the relatively recent management change, the
communication has improved by the use of WhatsApp and text message and I welcome that. Also the activities which have been introduced are varied, relevant and accessible to all. I don't know if they were already in place but if they were, they weren't publicised as well as currently. I've always found the staff very pleasant when I've visited. The building itself is dated in places but I can already see improvements are beginning to be made in that respect.

My mum has been at The Lodge since July 2021.
It has always been a really caring place, with excellent staff. Since new management have taken over it has gone from strength to strength. It is comforting to know that my darling mum is looked after by professional but top tier caring staff. Food has
always been and continues to be nourishing and varied, with really lovely personal touches like each resident having a cake baked especially for their birthdays. There are always activities and events going on and relatives are welcomed at all times. It's the little things like this that put 'home' into the care home. My family are very happy with the management, staff, facilities, food and accommodation. Lovely happy home.

Manor Rest Home has been quite transformed under the new management. Residents are entertained and involved in many activities. My dad is a reluctant participant but he seems to be enjoying himself and I have noticed a more positive demeanour in him and his fellow residents. I do not visit very often
as I live in Somerset, but I have felt the difference on my last couple of visits. Excellent work manager and team, it means a lot!

My Mum has been living in the lodge for 2 years due to suffering from Vascular dementia and health problems. She is cared for with kindness and compassion. All the staff including kitchen ladies, cleaners, carers and management are all genuinely kind and loving towards the residents and I have witnessed
exemplary care and nursing skills.

The manager and deputy respond immediately to any concerns or requests and do their utmost to help. They always show such knowledge of my Mums needs and problems and they call the Dr/ nurse/ paramedic quickly for any health issues.

Visitors are made to feel so welcome and the door is always opened with a smile.

Having your loved one in a care home is the hardest and saddest situation but the Lodge gives you peace of mind that they are looked after in your absence.

We have a friend who has been part of our family for over 40 years ..He is very happy at this care home.since being there he has had a new lease of life and taken away any loneliness he felt after a bereavement. He is kept busy doing activities such as a bingo caller which he loves ..the staff are all
very kind and caring . He loves the staff and has no complaints. He entertains and is being entertained.
We quite often get a lovely cup of coffee when visiting and the staff are all very welcoming when we arrive

My mum has been a resident of Manor Rest Home since October 2021. We have found the staff to be very pleasant and accommodating always someone to talk to if you have any concerns, the Horne itself could do with updating which we understand is going to be done now under new ownership. Mum seems very
happy here and when asked she says she likes it.
They have a hairdresser that goes in once a week for those wanting there hair done and a chiropodist that also goes on a regular basis, which is good for mum as she has diabetes and her feet need to be looked after.
Last year they had a Christmas party for the first time, which was lovely all members of family were invited along, and we were recently invited to a coffee morning but I was unable to attend.

My mum has been in this care home for 3 and a half years now
She seems very happy here and well settled
They now have activities that they can join in and are encouraged to although my mum chooses not to most of the time.
I'm happy that my mum is well looked after and she is happy when we visit
her
The actual rooms could do with updating but I know this is going to be done when possible.
The room is always clean and tidy
The staff are very friendly and if you have a problem with anything there is always someone to talk to and try and put things right .
The one comment I would say who ever gets her dressed could take a bit more care in choosing what she wears ( thinking of the weather)
The new manager is on hand most of the time and she is always willing to help and talk with you .
Overall I'm really happy with care and like the home.

Reply from Teri Ballard, Home Manager at Manor Rest Home

My mother-in-law has been a Resident of The Lodge for nearly 2 years now and my husband and I are so pleased that we chose this residential care home, in preference to any other because of the care, kindness and individual support that she has been given to all her needs in the entire time of her stay.
My
husband's mother is very happy and content there, she enjoys the company and very much enjoys the food. I personally would recommend this home to anyone looking to have a relative cared for because the staff are so kind and helpful, nothing is too much trouble and their involvement between themselves and us, (as relatives), is continuous to help keep on top of any concerns that we might have. (Nothing is too much trouble).
The location of The Lodge is very pleasant, the rooms are very clean and well kept and the food freshly cooked is outstanding.
We would definitely both recommend The Lodge as a good home to be considered for your relative!
