Review of Thorpe Wood Care Home from Catherine F (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Such a warm, welcoming, inclusive, home from home. It has been such a relief to finally know that my mother is safe and cared for. My mother is treated with dignity and respect, encouraged to join in with the many varied activities but her choice whether to participate is always respected. Visits from family and friends are encouraged and we are always made to feel so welcome. We couldn't have chosen anywhere better for my mother to live... Thank you Thorpe Wood

I find that there is not a lot of interaction between carers and residents. They do a good job with practicalities but not so much with the social element. Residents left alone with no company (except visitors). I appreciate the entertainment program is full but if the resident does not want to join in they are isolated and lonely.

Overall Experience
My dad David has been at The Maltings now for over 6 months after a severe stoke and very bad brain bleed witch had left him severely brain damaged unable to communicate walk talk or understand, we could not ask for better care for his needs his needs that are extremely complex, needing a hoist to move him about, needing 2 or more carers to assist in care / personal needs, he needs feeding, nurse to give him all medication, he has a PEG in his tummy which he is fed through, his drinks made with thickener to ensure he does not choke, he is very unpredictable which means he has no understanding of danger, which is a worry as he tries to get out of his chair, but he cannot walk, he has no mobility, can roll out of bed on numerous occasions.

With the help of one-to-one care, my dad has been cared for Extremely well and couldn't ask for better, thank you to all the staff at The Maltings

Review of The Maltings Care Home from Carole M (Sister of Resident) published on 26 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Since my sister has been at the Maltings, I have felt relieved to know that she is getting the best possible care there. The main thing to me is she seems happy and when I leave I feel that everyone there cares for her happiness too. She is now eating which she had almost stopped doing. This has only happened with lots of help and patience. The caring and comforting from all the care staff is amazing. My sister's personal care was almost non existent, but here she is always clean, tidy and healthy looking. I am always able to speak to someone about her condition. My sister has quite a lot of issues and I do not think she is very kind to the care staff. I am sorry for this and can only say a big thank you to everyone at the Maltings for looking after her so kindly.

When you walk in here for the first time when looking around for somewhere for your loved ones you will leave with the realisation that nothing else compares to it!
Mum has been in Thorpewood for 3.5 years and despite her needs changing a few times the staff have always found a way of adapting to her needs to ensure Mum feels supported, is treated with the respect she deserves and is loved - yes, they really do love their residents and there's no where else we'd have chosen for her.
The care home is immaculate, rooms are large compared to other care homes, food is great, entertainment team are inclusive and the programme they put on is a good selection for all to enjoy. All staff are welcoming and friendly, they give you space while visiting but are there if needed.

I can't fault this home at all, it's exceptionally led and the care team are worth their weight in gold

Not a complaint, but would be nice if the bedding was changed more frequently. Would also be nice if district nurses and facility team got in touch with residents' families to keep them in the picture of what's happening to their loved ones. Big lack of communication.

Review of Thorpe Wood Care Home from H D (Wife of Resident) published on 3 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My husband and I visited several nursing homes when we were considering respite care, Thorpe Wood came out top of the list although we were concerned that we might have to go on a waiting list. The need for permanent care came quicker than we expected and thanks to the management staff my husband was able to become a resident. The rooms are well designed and very comfortable. The whole building is made to feel like 'home'. Meals are wholesome and varied. Staff are attentive and caring, you could not ask for more. This is somewhere you should visit and put on your 'What if' list.

Review of Wilford View Care Home from Lorraine L (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 23 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

My mother in law was extremly well cared for in the short time she lived at Wilford view. The care and compassion and commitment of the care staff, Nurse and everyone was excellent. We were always informed of any changes in her health and really appreciate the last weeks of her care up to her passing. The home is clean & welcoming, the food and staff go above and beyond to make it feel like home.

Review of Long Eaton View Care Home from Phil C (Son of Resident) published on 16 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Dad was in a care home for 2 years plus and although the environment was not good and seemed in a poor state he was always content, treated with respect and dignity and with love by care staff. Mum's experience at Long Eaton View is not as positive and staff commitment varies. At times she has felt neglected and not respected. The majority of the staff are excellent and endeavour to make life as comfortable as possible for the residents. The food has previously been acceptable but not good, activities good - Lisa and Sonia particularly welcoming and committed.

Review of Long Eaton View Care Home from S T (Friend of Resident) published on 24 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

Our friend came in to Long Eaton View in March 2026. It took him a couple of weeks to settle, but staff have helped a great deal with that process. He now has a lovely rappor with most of the staff during the day and at night. He appears well cared for. He always appears well dressed and his personal hygiene well attended too. He is happy with the room he has enjoys the canal view. He is starting to speak fondly of particular staff members and other residents.

This is a wonderful care home where mum was made welcome from her very first day. All the staff are so caring and are brilliant at seeing to mum's needs in such a respectful and helpful way.
