Review of Cedar House from Robert Y (Son of Resident) published on 3 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum has been a resident of Cedar House for around two years. She has received exceptional care during this time. All the staff are so caring, nothing is too much trouble.

The food is excellent with meals always freshly prepared on-site. There is a great range of activities available to keep residents happy and active.

Reply from Andrew Cohen, Owner at Cedar House

It means a great deal to our whole team to know that their care, the freshly prepared meals and our activities are so appreciated. Thank you for placing your trust in us.

Good start to my father's residency but soon deteriorated. Rough treatment has been alleged. Broke his arm and it was three days before he was sent back to hospital to have cast reapplied. Staff did not diagnose delerium!

Reply from Andrew Cohen, Owner at Meadowbank Care Home
We are very surprised and upset at this negative and erroneous review, it is both factually inaccurate and deliberately vexatious.

When he arrived at our home this resident had significant challenging behaviours of hitting, spitting and using abusive language towards staff and refusing personal...

Overall the quality of the home and care provided is good. Staffing levels appear to be low at weekends. This can result in residents rising times to vary which can be annoying as they like their routine.

The standard of the home is very good, the care and the quality is fine. There are activities and entertainment planned throughout the week, which everyone can take part in and also external visits to theatres/boat trips etc etc. Whenever Mum has any concerns they deal with these straight away and also inform us of anything that is ongoing or requires our input. The only recommendation would be for some of the "family" events where additional family members are invited in to take part and be with their loved ones could take place occasionally on a Saturday or Sunday, some families that have had to utilise a care home are still having to work full time and this is disappointing for the resident when nobody is able to attend with them.

My father was brought into Meadowbank on New Year's Eve following a period of delirium, lack of mobility, loss of appetite and high potassium levels. The staff and management without exception have been amazing with him, and have brought him back to being happy and interested in life. Moving him to a downstairs room with a view of the garden has perked him up, and at 97 though he still had mobility, heart and kidney issues, I feel thanks to Meadowbank, he has more time. His quality of life has improved since moving in as he enjoys the constant company and attention and has made friends. Being a home very close to where he lived before he did not have to change doctors' surgery and indeed Meadowbank, given close ties to his surgery, is like a nursing home.

Reply from Andrew Cohen, Owner at Meadowbank Care Home

Thank you for your kind review. We are delighted that your father has settled so well at Meadowbank and that his happiness, appetite for life and quality of life have improved. It is a privilege to care for him, and we will ensure that this continues.

Review of Cedar House from Anne H (Wife of Resident) published on 24 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
After more than 20 years of caring for my husband 24/7 with his increasing health and mobility issues and after several weeks in hospital and a rehabilitation centre it became clear that the time for permanent residency in a care home was the next step in our lives.
I am grateful that the management and staff at Cedar House from the initial assessment to this present day recognise and support the fact that in the right place my husband has the potential to have a happy, safe and social life. Cedar House has been that place. I am reassured that all staff work so well together and are coordinated to cater for his needs physically and emotionally.
And as for me -it is hard for me to let go of the caring responsibilities that I have had for so long but Cedar House makes me feel so welcome and I love spending time there and chatting with the other interesting residents and staff.
Our son and I agree that my husband is in better health now than he has been in months.

Thank you Cedar House

Our mum has really come to life since moving to Meadowbank. There is always something going on that she can get involved with if she wishes. The food is good, mum particularly likes the fish and chips on Friday. The staff at Meadow bank are so kind and caring and as family member you get to know the staff too. We would highly recommend Meadowbank we definitely made the right choice.

I have been visiting a service user at Meadowbank for several years. The staff are welcoming and friendly whenever I arrive. Their care of the residents is always very attentive, good humoured, and each person's individual requirements are kindly met, and time is spent with them. At the same time, the staff are efficient in dealing with the day to day needs and medical requirements of the residents. There are plenty of activities available each day for those who wish to join in, and great days arranged for friends and family at festival times. While efficiently dealing with daily requirements, the atmosphere is helpful, kind and considerate. I cannot praise the staff enough.

Overall Experience
My 96-year-old mother stayed at Rosemary Lodge for seven weeks of respite after a fall and months in hospital with a broken tibia. The care she received was exceptional. Every carer was kind, patient and professional, and she was always treated with dignity and respect.
Jane, the Registered Care Manager, was outstanding. Her professionalism, compassion and leadership created a warm, well-run environment where my mother felt safe and valued.
The home was clean, comfortable and welcoming, with good food and a friendly atmosphere. My mother felt completely safe, and when it was time to leave, she insisted on saying goodbye to every member of staff - a true sign of how well she was cared for.

I cannot fault Rosemary Lodge and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a genuinely caring and supportive home.

We continue to feel that Cedar House is "home from home" for Dad. The level of care and support continues to be excellent whilst maintaining a sense of family, which includes the residents' families. The Home is kept clean and well maintained, staff are friendly and there is usually something going on, or someone around for Dad to talk with. If I could, I would book a place for myself for when I'm unable to manage at home - but hopefully that's a good few years off yet!

Cedar House Care Home is a wonderful place, welcoming, warm, clean, and furnished to a very high standard. The staff and management are amazing!!!! They are caring, patient and always keep me well informed of any changes in mums health, happiness and wellbeing. The food always looks tasty and well presented. The activities on offer are plentiful and varied. Mum has now been in Cedar House over 3 years and in that time the staff members have been consistent which is reassuring as I feel that is just as important for the family visiting as well as the resident. Knowing mum is so well cared for is of great comfort to us all. Thank you Cedar House.

My mum has only been in the home a few months however she has been made to feel very welcome and has settled in extremely well. All the staff are extremely kind and friendly always making time for a chat with both family and resident. The home itself is spotlessly clean and has a very homely feel. Unfortunately my mum was taken ill at the home however their prompt action ensured that she received quick treatment. The level of care is excellent and it very much feels like home to all.

Cedar house is lovely and warm and has a very comfortable and homely atmosphere, which suits her very well. The level of care if there are any medical issues is excellent.

Six months on, mum is very happy at The Cedars and it really is her home. She feels cared for by staff - and 'known' by them personally. The balance and range of activities is great and really enjoyed and looked forward to. And the whole home is cheerful, spotlessly clean and like a very comfy hotel. Mum has made lovely friends with other residents and is anything but lonely!
This has of course, taken a huge burden off me, her daughter and even when I can't visit (as I live away from the area) I have complete confidence that she is well cared for.
The Christmas activities were absolutely brilliant - such a lot of trouble was clearly gone too to make it a very happy Christmas for residents. Mum was absolutely thrilled.

Thank you all...and to top it all, I feel very cared for when I visit. You can't believe what a tonic this is!

My Mum initially went to The Cedars for respite care following an illness. When I first viewed the home I was really overwhelmed by the kindness and caring of The Managers ... who really understood that I needed somewhere for Mum very quickly and worked hard to make it happen in a short time frame.
Mum is now a permanent resident and is really well settled. She's recently been poorly again and all of the staff have been amazing in the care of Mum. Prompt response from the GP and medication supplied same day.
The Cedars has a real family feel about it. I love visiting Mum as its a lovely community of older people who enjoy their time together.
All of the staff are so caring and respectful.
The foods always looks and smells delicious.
And the home is beautifully cared for and spotlessly clean ... it also smells lovely!

I can't speak highly enough of The Cedars Team as they are looking after Mum beautifully and I get to spend quality time with Mum instead of being the carer.

An exceptional Care Home, always a friendly welcome. The staff are caring & professional at all times, they treat the residents with respect & dignity.
The food always looks good & well presented. The residents are encouraged to join in on endless activities throughout the weeks, it's amazing what is offered in the way of entertainment & socialising.
The environment is homely & always kept clean & tidy. There is never that 'care home smell'. The care home is in a lovely location with a good car park.

Never had cause to complain.

Review of Cedar House from A C (Son of Resident) published on 17 November 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Unlike the more modern and large care homes in this part of Leicestershire, Cedar House is a well established medium sized care home based on what appears to have been at one time a large detached house on a substantial corner plot.Consequently it has a very domestic home based atmosphere with the extensions sympathetically in keeping with the original house.
Mum is of a generation that easily finds fault. She reluctantly accepts that she can no longer live independently and that for family peace of mind she is safe and despite the odd gripe is in fact well cared for.
Management are quick to respond when issues are raised and they and all the staff are caring.

Noteworthy, in a field where given the nature of the work and pressures involved care jobs are challenging, is the fact that staff turnover during the 3 years plus mum has been at Cedar House has been low.

It has a very happy, caring, friendly atmosphere, nothing is to much trouble for the staff. Mum settled very quickly and soon referred it to her home and has lots of new friends, activities that she can join in.

There is a lot of happiness in Cedar House.
