We continue to feel that Cedar House is "home from home" for Dad. The level of care and support continues to be excellent whilst maintaining a sense of family, which includes the residents' families. The Home is kept clean and well maintained, staff are friendly and there is usually something going
on, or someone around for Dad to talk with. If I could, I would book a place for myself for when I'm unable to manage at home - but hopefully that's a good few years off yet!

Cedar House is a great place for my Mother to live. There are activities and entertainment planned for each day of the week and trips out to the theatre, great central railway, canal boats and the like.
The food and catering is excellent with three choices available on most menus. Food is freshly prepared
on site.
Major cultural festivals such as Christmas and Easter are celebrated with special activities, menus and the like.
Most importantly, the staff are wonderful and so caring; nothing is too much trouble for them. My Mother recently suffered an illness and the staff pulled out all the stops to get her the appropriate care and ensure a speedy recovery.

My Mum initially went to The Cedars for respite care following an illness. When I first viewed the home I was really overwhelmed by the kindness and caring of The Managers ... who really understood that I needed somewhere for Mum very quickly and worked hard to make it happen in a short time frame.
Mum
is now a permanent resident and is really well settled. She's recently been poorly again and all of the staff have been amazing in the care of Mum. Prompt response from the GP and medication supplied same day.
The Cedars has a real family feel about it. I love visiting Mum as its a lovely community of older people who enjoy their time together.
All of the staff are so caring and respectful.
The foods always looks and smells delicious.
And the home is beautifully cared for and spotlessly clean ... it also smells lovely!
I can't speak highly enough of The Cedars Team as they are looking after Mum beautifully and I get to spend quality time with Mum instead of being the carer.

Six months on, mum is very happy at The Cedars and it really is her home. She feels cared for by staff - and 'known' by them personally. The balance and range of activities is great and really enjoyed and looked forward to. And the whole home is cheerful, spotlessly clean and like a very comfy hotel.
Mum has made lovely friends with other residents and is anything but lonely!
This has of course, taken a huge burden off me, her daughter and even when I can't visit (as I live away from the area) I have complete confidence that she is well cared for.
The Christmas activities were absolutely brilliant - such a lot of trouble was clearly gone too to make it a very happy Christmas for residents. Mum was absolutely thrilled.
Thank you all...and to top it all, I feel very cared for when I visit. You can't believe what a tonic this is!

Mum has settled in really well and is enjoying the company and all the activities. All the staff are friendly and caring and very professional. Cedar house is lovely and warm and has a very comfortable and homely atmosphere, which suits her very well. The level of care if there are any medical issues
is excellent.

My mum has only been in the home a few months however she has been made to feel very welcome and has settled in extremely well. All the staff are extremely kind and friendly always making time for a chat with both family and resident. The home itself is spotlessly clean and has a very homely feel. Unfortunately
my mum was taken ill at the home however their prompt action ensured that she received quick treatment. The level of care is excellent and it very much feels like home to all.

Cedar House Care Home is a wonderful place, welcoming, warm, clean, and furnished to a very high standard. The staff and management are amazing!!!! They are caring, patient and always keep me well informed of any changes in mums health, happiness and wellbeing. The food always looks tasty and well presented.
The activities on offer are plentiful and varied. Mum has now been in Cedar House over 3 years and in that time the staff members have been consistent which is reassuring as I feel that is just as important for the family visiting as well as the resident. Knowing mum is so well cared for is of great comfort to us all. Thank you Cedar House.

An exceptional Care Home, always a friendly welcome. The staff are caring & professional at all times, they treat the residents with respect & dignity.
The food always looks good & well presented. The residents are encouraged to join in on endless activities throughout the weeks, it's amazing what
is offered in the way of entertainment & socialising.
The environment is homely & always kept clean & tidy. There is never that 'care home smell'. The care home is in a lovely location with a good car park.
Never had cause to complain.

Unlike the more modern and large care homes in this part of Leicestershire, Cedar House is a well established medium sized care home based on what appears to have been at one time a large detached house on a substantial corner plot.Consequently it has a very domestic home based atmosphere with the
extensions sympathetically in keeping with the original house.
Mum is of a generation that easily finds fault. She reluctantly accepts that she can no longer live independently and that for family peace of mind she is safe and despite the odd gripe is in fact well cared for.
Management are quick to respond when issues are raised and they and all the staff are caring.
Noteworthy, in a field where given the nature of the work and pressures involved care jobs are challenging, is the fact that staff turnover during the 3 years plus mum has been at Cedar House has been low.

It has a very happy, caring, friendly atmosphere, nothing is to much trouble for the staff. Mum settled very quickly and soon referred it to her home and has lots of new friends, activities that she can join in.
There is a lot of happiness in Cedar House.

The Team at Cedar are amazing. They look after Mum's needs extremely well. She has regular doctor reviews and her medications are well managed on a daily basis. There are regular, varied activities for the residents managed by a very friendly, hands on activities team. All the carers know my Mum by
name and know her likes and dislikes. The food is great and the residents look forward to meal times. The accommodation is a very high standard with most rooms have direct access to a garden and of great importance the central heating is ALWAYS on!

Cedar House is a professionally run care home with outstanding staff who are caring, respectful, compassionate, well equipped to deal with difficult situations, knowledgeable, and who all work to provide a home with a wonderful, warm atmosphere. My mum is as happy as she could be giving up her independence
and appreciates this is the best place for her as the home constantly updates her care plan to facilitate her condition.

For the last five years the staff of Cedar House have provided excellent care for my mother. As she approaches 94 her health has naturally deteriorated but I know mum is in safe, compassionate hands.
Over many visits to the home, I have seen staff at all levels give professional care but also genuine
affection too.
The management team are always helpful and keep us informed of issues as they arise.
It is a huge comfort to my siblings and I to know that our mother is in such good hands.

Care is excellent. There is a choice of food, with varied menus. Cleanliness is always first class. Rooms are very comfortable, with attention to detail. There are planned activities, and entertainment, with occasional theatre trips. All staff and management at Cedar House are very professional, kind,
thoughtful and caring. The only minor issue I've experienced is attention to detail with laundry.

My dad has been a Cedar House resident since the Summer. He has always been fiercely independent but has adjusted well particularly with the empathy shown by the management team. They, along with their staff, although busy, offer time for a chat about any concerns, keep us informed of any issues, are
kind, caring and smiley.
The carers are quick to get medical help if needed, again informing the family and discussing with my dad.
The maintenance team are visual and will help in any way to accommodate items from home.
The home is welcoming, clean, smells nice - is warm and friendly and I feel at home there too.
The dining room is fabulously arranged and there is a lovely small cafe available.
The residents are offered a decent choice of food and amount is varied per residents wishes. They are encouraged to eat in the dining room or if preferred can remain in their room.
We have weekly updates of the many activities if you wish to participate.
We are all happy, as dad is too, with Cedar House.

relatives if needed.

Our family is very happy with the care which Cedar House are providing for my Mum. The home keeps us informed of any medical issues eg chest or urine infections. Telephone contact via Cedar House's mobile phone system works well. My Mum often comments that the staff in Cedar House are very kind to her.
Cedar House staff have helped us with an attendance allowance application and have helped us with options relating to funding my Mum's care. We are impressed with the range and regularity of activities which Cedar House provides for all residents.

The quality of the home starts at the top and the leaders on a day-to-day basis are excellent. The staff treat the residents with the greatest respect and whilst they are busy they take the time to get to know the residents, it is like a family.
My Mother took some time to settle, especially as she
joined when isolation was required due to COVID. I couldn't have asked for a more supportive team at a time that was difficult for all of us.
The home is extremely clean, well looked after, and has beautiful gardens. The maintenance team works hard to keep everything functioning and they make such a difference (including when my Mum asked one of them to ensure they cut the lawn near her room - which they did!).

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.836)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.836) out of 10 for Cedar House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.836 for Cedar House is calculated as follows: ( (210 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 250 Ratings = 4.836
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar House is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
