My mother has been a resident at Forest View for three years. She now has advanced dementia but throughout her stay she has always been cared for with compassion and kindness. As her needs have changed, the management and staff have adjusted things to help her live as comfortably as possible and to
keep her occupied when she could no longer join in with the communal activities. The family who own Forest View are very hands on with the day to day care and running of the home and I think their caring attitude runs right through to all the wonderful members of staff. The home itself is very well kept, always clean and airy, with nicely furnished rooms. The garden has a mix of flower beds, seats and wheelchair friendly paths, and is a lovely place to spend some time outdoors. We are so glad we found Forest View when we needed it, and we could not have found a better home for Mum

Absolutely have no hesitation in recommending the care home. My mother has been here for 2 1/2 years. Mum thrived in the first month of residing at Forest View. The care home is inviting and warm and the staff truly care. My mum is very happy and comfortable there, obviously in the beginning, she
wanted to come home. Mum was only meant to be there for respite but when I saw the level of care and the proximity to my home I thought this was the best place for Mum. if there are issues communicate with the staff to resolve which they do efficiently. I truly hope Mum will stay here until her end to earthly life ends

My dad has been a resident here since early 2022. Prior to this he spent a year in a home that he was clearly not happy in and where his family struggled to gain access to visit him. This place is so different from the previous one and I am still so incredibly grateful that we waited to get him in here.
I'll be honest and say he didn't initially settle well, and more honestly, I was asked to find him somewhere else ASAP. Not the best first impression for both parties. However through a difficult period a strong relationship between our family and the home was formed. My dad settled down and was allowed to stay. From that point I can only lavish praise on the owners for their dedication to improving the facilities, maintaining a consistent team of very caring staff, and bringing activities in from outside to engage the residents where they can.
The door is always open, staff are always on hand and happy to help.
Thank you Forest View, my dad is very much at home with you.

My relative has been a resident for over three years now. During this time I have pleasantly observed how management has been taking and implementing decisions to improve the environment of the residents thereby making them more comfortable. I also wish to commend the staff for the caring and dedicated
manner in which they discharge their duties. I also find it comfortable to communicate with management and staff with regards to the welfare of my relative. From my observation, my relative has been cared for in a manner I am pleased with and would recommend this service to anyone who is looking for the same.

Mum spent a few years at Forest View before passing at the Home in November 2024. We felt blessed to have found this home. The staff are lovely, very patient, kind and caring. The home is small so it receives the best hands-on management. The chef cooks lovely meals, mum was on pureed food and these
were made with care. Mum's room was always clean and the same applies to the rest of the home. I witnessed (and participated!) in some activities, these were fun and fully inclusive. I would thoroughly recommend Forest View.

My 87 mum had been at Forest View Care Home since December 2019, she had a few admissions to hospital whilst she was at the home but sadly she passed away September 2024. Forest view was a lovely family run care home and the staff were also caring and lovely. In the time my mum was there it was like
being part of a family. If I did have any issues with the care of my mum they would deal with the issue and listen to my concerns. I couldn't have asked for a better home for my mum to spend her final years. The activities provided for the residents was always first class. In the time my mum was there the garden has been landscaped, and they have continued to add interior improvements to the home keeping the home clean and updated.

My mum was a resident for a year before her care needs changed and she required nursing care. Forest View was a proper 'home', small, very friendly where we knew all the staff and they knew Mum. They never employ an agency and the care is second to none. I will always be so glad Mum was able to live
there when she did and only wish all care homes were like Forest View.

Our experience of our loved one's care at Forest View was unfortunately, not at all positive and they are now residing at a care home that is able to provide an appropriate standard of care. Our loved one's health deteriorated rapidly and in addition to local authority safeguarding being involved our
complaint about their care was also followed up by the LGSCO. Many of the carers employed by Forest View are committed and show kindness and compassion towards the residents and the chef cooks some nice meals, so we have respect for a lot of the staff and the work that they do. We are very happy now that our loved one is able to live where their health has improved and we can see what a good care home looks like; it is worth paying a little more to make sure your loved one is well cared for.
Reply from Robert Heath, Director at Forest View

We are very proud of the service we offer at Forest View and agree with you that our carers are incredibly kind and caring. It is disappointing that you and your friend’s positive experiences are not reflected more in your comments. For the majority of their 9 month stay at Forest View, we felt that you were both incredibly happy with the service and you personally reiterated this to me on a number of occasions. We are completely assured and satisfied that after our own investigation, the safeguarding we supported and the LGSO enquiry that you chose to raise, the overwhelming majority of your allegations (as determined by the 3rd parties involved) were unfounded an unsubstantiated. The decision to move a resident on from our home is only ever taken in the best interest of the resident and/or if it is felt that they require more nursing care, as in your friend’s case.
We are pleased to hear that your friend has settled in their new setting and we all wish him the best for the future.

Forest View is a fairly small, family owned/run home, and this helps to give it a very cosy and personal feel. My mother enjoyed her time there, was well looked after, and was comfortable. Staff are friendly and often long-serving, which is reassuring when continuity is so helpful for most residents.
I was able to relax a bit, in the knowledge that my mum was safe, comfortable, happy and cared for.

My sister moved into Forest View in July 2022, although it was initially a challenging transition for our family, she settled in much quicker and better than we had imagined. Evidence of the care she is receiving from both management and staff. I witness regularly the genuinely compassionate relationship
the manager has with her. My prior experience with the wonderful care and assistance a previous family member received during their time at Forest view is one of the reasons I chose this facility again.

We trust Forest View's expert and consistent care, they are easily contactable. I received regular updates, and being a small family-run business it offers a rich personable home-from-home experience with great facilities; location and ease of access to nearby public transport parks

The communication with staff and management at the care home was good
Would recommend the home to future residents
Provides good clean value for money
I am unable to provide additional information since apart from a few visits my contact with the care home was mainly by telephone and email.

Am grateful for your review, best of luck for the future.

Mum moved to Forest View in mid-January 2022 and was instantly well supported by experienced carers to quickly settle. Despite mum having some significant health issues since moving in staff have remained reassuring, optimistic, patient and flexible in her care. Staff at the home have delivered a bespoke
personalised service to motivate, encourage and enable mum to remain as independent and content as she can be whilst ensuring she is safe.

Mum's room is clean and bright and overlooks the beautifully landscaped garden which is aesthetically pleasing, providing a fabulous outdoor visiting space. Dogs, grandchildren, family, friends and recently a new great-grandson have all been welcomed by friendly staff at Forest View. Having spoken with the home's owners and regularly with the home manager, it is clear to see how important their high level of care is and that they too want only the best for our elderly loved ones. Our family are truly impressed and hugely grateful mums home is now Forest View.

Good clean accommodation. Excellent food, very caring staff. Owners are 1st class, engaged, closely involved in the running, actively engaged in activities. Always looking for days to improve. Good at keeping family in touch. All in all, an excellent care home and very good value for money; could easily
up their rates.

Management is very involved with residents and family. Kept well informed of all details of my aunt's health and well being. When I had questions or observations, someone always spoke to me and to my comments on board. My aunt was well cared for with dignity, and most importantly, she felt at home and
safe. Her only minor complaint was sometimes she did not like food options, but they always cooked her something else, so no complaints there.

I would thoroughly recommend Forest View. My mother, a very quiet and independent lady, had been reluctant to leave her home of over 50 years but she spent her last five months very happily at Forest View. The owners and staff made my mother (and me) very welcome and showed great kindness and warmth
as well as detailed attention to the things that mattered to mum. She made friends over tea and homemade cakes, and has a room with a view of the garden as she loved the gardens and gardening.

My Dad has been here since January 2018 and in that time we have come to know the staff and residents very well. All the staff are the most helpful, understanding people you could wish to meet and the current manager, who unfortunately is about to retire, is unbelievably caring and has struck up a
good relationship with my Dad. The home is warm, clean, tidy and well kept and when my Mum visits every other day, they treat her as if she is one of the residents. They are very easy going and will try to cater for any request you have. My Daughter and I even visit with our dogs once in a while and they have no problem with this. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone who asked my advice and wouldn't think twice about sending my Mum here too if ever the need arose.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.263)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.263) out of 10 for Forest View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.463 for Forest View is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.463
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Forest View is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
