My 91-year-old stepfather has been bed-bound since December 2024 and the staff have been so thoughtful and kind in making him as comfortable and as happy as possible.
He enjoys chatting to them and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I've noticed there is a gentle understanding between the carers and
the patients, and I've witnessed how quickly they respond to everyone's needs; their experience shows in every way. I am truly grateful to them all.

My father is currently a resident at Morven house. I chose Morven as previously my mother was a resident there. The staff and management are what makes this care home special I feel.
They have got to know my father and his likes and dislikes really quickly and are always super kind to him. The staff
get to know the relations of the residents also and always have time to discuss anything that's on your mind, which is really helpful if you're worried about your relative. Whenever I visit there's always a good atmosphere and there's also lots of genuine kindness and compassion for all the residents.

Some residents can be very awkward but I have only ever seen residents looked after incredibly well and with great patience and understanding. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
There are some lovely rooms here and staff are willing to help you make your relatives room feel homely and personal.

The staff have always been very friendly and have greeted us with open arms. We are treated like one of the family. We have seen recently, especially a vast improvement in our friend. The staff try to get her to interact as much as possible. We know that an entertainment lady used to come to the home
doing games such as Bingo etc. This would be a good idea to bring back. A big thank you to staff as they do a very difficult job and seem to do it with such ease. One other big positive is that the setting the home is in is idyllic and beautiful. We do not find any fault with this care home.

My sister has only been at Morven House for 3 weeks but I am highly impressed by the care she is receiving. When viewing care homes, Morven House was by far the best one we saw.
The staff, at all levels, are incredibly friendly and helpful in all matters. My sister seems really comfortable and happy
at Morven House and I can see a really positive change in her since she’s been there. She is settling in well and it feels like she’s been there much longer than 3 weeks as it feels like home. I’m so happy my sister is there.

Mum has been at Morven House for well over a year now. I am happy that Mum is looked after well and that her needs are met. I genuinely feel that the staff care about her and her wellbeing. Morven House is kept clean and Mum's room is always tidy and has a fresh feel about it.
The care home has started
to feel much more homely with pictures and photos around the place. The summer and Christmas parties are a lovely way for families to get together.

I find the staff friendly, supportive and caring.
Morven House Care Home used to have an entertainment lady who played games with the residents, e.g. bingo, card games, and I would like to see this reinstated.

The staff at the facility consistently treats all residents with the utmost respect and kindness, demonstrating their warmth and professionalism from the moment one arrives. Since my aunt moved in, her happiness and sense of belonging have never been greater. The care and individual attention she has
received exceed my expectations and the staff's unwavering empathy and patience are truly remarkable.
The rooms are meticulously maintained, clothing is regularly laundered and a diverse selection of nutritious meals are provided daily. Additionally, residents enjoy a variety of scheduled activities such as singing, music and film screenings. Special occasions are also celebrated to create a homely atmosphere. The management's communication with relatives is exceptional.

My wife and I are 78 years old and our return car journey to Kenley is always 6-7 hours, so our visits are limited and we are unable to give some ratings.
On this visit, my sister-in-law looked well and was bright and cheerful and well cared for. The staff were all very helpful and considerate and
she was treated kindly. She was being involved in a number of social activities including a much-appreciated outing to the shops. The facilities were clean and neat, the residents seemed calm and settled and the staff were organised and competent which must reflect positively on the management of the facility. Our thanks for the care my sister-in-law is obviously receiving.

All carers are extremely conscientious, helpful and courteous. They are attentive to the needs of residents and create a welcoming and positive environment.
We greatly appreciate the support they have given to grandma and the communication which they consistently give to the family.
Even small details
such as answering the phone immediately every single day go such a long way and show the work ethic of the staff as a collective.
Thank you for everything you do!

The carers are such wonderful, warm and loving people. The team leader, along with all the carers (I would name all of them if I had the space), looks after Grandma and all the residents so well.
We are so grateful as Grandma loves all the carers.
The care home is more like a home and is clean and
comfortable. They do their best to treat everyone with respect. They always communicate and give honest feedback regarding Grandma to us as a family, and for that, we are very thankful!
Thank you to the Morven team for continuing to be great.

Just wanted to say I think the staff are doing an amazing job. They treat patients with kindness and dignity.

Two female and one of the male care assistants (I cannot remember his name) were helping to care for our friend. They were so caring and patient.

Thanks so much to every staff member.

The house is situated in a rural area. A plush environment with lots of greenery and nature. The house itself, although large, is somewhat dilapidated. Just outside (parking area and towards the rear) there are at times strewn garbage, bird poo and broken stuff e.g. shed. The inside seems fairly clean
but furniture (tables/chairs in the dining area) are dilapidated and sometimes broken. The TV's in both spots (public areas) do not work properly - the connection is shaky and one is unable to watch a show decently. Carers on the surface seem nice (one or two are exemplary) but on a last trip, we noticed one or two made fun of residents with dementia (namely my mother) - innocuous probably, but still dementia patients may not understand the funny side, while one or two don't like to be inconvenienced with questions and assistance of being connected to my relative. Management appears aloof to the issues but we have made them aware of some of the issues.
Reply from Shaun Surendran, Director at Morven House

Thank you for your review. The management is working extremely hard to ensure the renovation of Morven House, work has already started on the gardens and the inside of the property and there is a huge improvement, we also have a new maintenance team. We can assure you that all tables and chairs are not broken and are used daily by all our residents. Both televisions are also in working order. We would like to take the opportunity to ask that if you have concerns about any care staff please bring this to our attention immediately. We have a new manager who we appointed in May who has made significant improvements already.

I believe that a yearly review with staff, relatives and the resident invited to the meeting would be helpful. I think that a key worker system would be helpful. A staff member who can be involved in a particular resident's care including clothing requirements, activities etc. Staff are generally very
professional and helpful, but they don't always know about a particular resident.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.625)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.625) out of 10 for Morven House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.725 for Morven House is calculated as follows: ( (78 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 102 Ratings = 4.725
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Morven House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
