I have found as a resident of Springview Care Home, very caring, loving and professional. The staff have done their very best to welcome me and they look after the other residents so very well. The food here is magnificent too.

My mother went to Springview for a respite stay earlier this year. Although she was only there for two weeks, her family were all very impressed with the care she received, particularly in view of the fact that Covid was still making things difficult for everybody.

Her room was spacious and comfortable and she ate well throughout her stay. The staff were all respectful and considerate and we know that, should my mother need care in the future, we would have no hesitation in returning to Springview.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, it was our pleasure to care for your mother, and we look forward to welcoming her back to Springview again. Your kind review will be shared with all the staff at Springview.

Mum arrived at Springview after a week in the hospital as a respite resident. She was distressed and depressed, refusing to leave her room and unable to walk unaided. A month later, she is walking with the aid of a frame, chatting with staff and enjoying lunch in the lounge with other residents. She has decided that she wants to be a long-term resident, and I am delighted. The staff have been kind and encouraging to her, supporting her to become more mobile and to participate in the activities and life at Springview - and equally supportive and helpful to me. There has always been someone I can talk to if I have concerns, and any concerns I have had, have been heard and addressed. I am very grateful for the care and professionalism of the staff who have transformed my mum's life, and I feel hugely relieved to know she is safe and happy with them.

My father stayed at Springview for two weeks' respite care while I went on holiday. The staff were kind and welcoming and were always available to help when he had continence difficulties during the night. My father was happy with his room and the facilities. He said the food was excellent. Sometimes he didn't know how things worked, but he "did not want to bother the busy staff". Some were misunderstandings on his part, so could staff please ensure that residents, especially those only staying for a short time, understand how things work; eg there was a bath in his room that he could not climb into, but no one told him there was a well-equipped shower room with seat, grab handles, etc, where staff could help him shower. He also waited each morning, once dressed, for someone to tell him to go down to breakfast, but he didn't know he could just go when he was ready. Generally, a very nice, clean, comfortable and well-equipped home, and I would be happy if my father had to stay there again.

We are pleased that your father enjoyed his stay at Springview. It can be very daunting for people coming into a care home for the very first time and during the initial few weeks of your stay we try to get to know one another. We acknowledge your feedback, and will share with the team at...

Springview has been amazing during Covid. The measures that have been implemented have been amazing, and as family members, we have been reassured that our relative has been kept safe. The home staff have always been polite, courteous and helpful.

This review takes into consideration that for the majority of the time that Dad has been resident visiting has been severely restricted, for obvious reasons. The family are grateful to Springview and the staff for making visits possible, especially the use of the gazebo, whenever it was deemed safe. Whether visiting Dad in person or talking via Skype, he has never had a bad word to stay about Springview or the staff. He is very complimentary about the care given and the quality of the food. Dad always looks well cared for and happy in himself, and we thank the staff concerned for making this happen. We have been pleased with the ease and level of communication between ourselves and the home. We have been happy with the way we have been updated about how Coronavirus has affected Springview, although we would strongly encourage any staff members who are not yet vaccinated to have the jab as this would ease our concerns, particularly when we are on the verge of a third wave.

Reply from Michael Williams, Associate CEO at Springview

Thank you for your kind words, and we are delighted that you are satisfied with the care given, the level of communication, and the food. Please rest assured that it is now government policy that all care home staff should have the jab and all our staff will be complying.

Wonderful care for my mum. She entered Springview at the height of Covid in August 2020 and has been extremely well cared for since then. Big call out to one lady and her team on the 1st floor. Mum has settled in well, and so pleased I chose Springview for Mum. Would highly recommend Springview.

My mother was discharged from the hospital after having COVID. It was a very stressful time for us as we were unable to visit any homes because of the pandemic and had to choose a home for her without visiting.
The staff at Springview did everything they could to help us with this choice. They have spent time on the phone explaining the procedures, and when my mother arrived, they kept us updated with how she was settling in.

They have helped her feel at home, ensuring she has home comforts around her, and also assisting her to gain her strength back and become more mobile again after her 6-weeks stay in hospital. They have sorted out her medication requests, and when she broke her tooth, took her to her own dentist. She often says to me, "when I got back to the hotel" after these visits! I know that she has trained carers looking after her, and yet, she feels she is in a hotel. The carers are so patient and friendly and are always available to talk to me if I am concerned in any way.

The home itself is very nice, the rooms are modern and comfortable, most of the staff seem very nice and friendly and helpful although the exceptions are to the extreme of this i.e. rude, unhelpful, dismissive and uncaring. Basic requirements have not always been carried out (i.e. dietary requirements, assistance with daily tasks such as eating, drinking, going to the toilet), personal hygiene, understanding my mother's actual needs and the appropriate care plan being put in place for her needs. The food seems to be, on the whole, very nice, and the menus have good choices. I have had to complain on several occasions and I find the Manager quite aggressive and feel he is not fully taking on board the problems brought to his attention. Objective criticism should be helpful and a learning curve, not taken as a personal attack which I have found to be very unprofessional.

Reply from Michael Williams, Chairman at Springview

Our home is highly regarded by residents and families alike and is rated 'good' by the Care Quality Commission. Critical comments are extremely rare, but we are happy to work with the family to understand and resolve the issues that are raised.

During my nurse training, I worked regular shifts as a care assistant in various care homes to both enhance my skills and support my family.

In 2008, I finally qualified as a registered nurse and worked on an acute medical ward, completed my preceptorship and built on my nursing skills and knowledge.
