I initially visited here with my sister looking for somewhere our Alzheimer's suffering mother could live. We are so glad we picked here, compared to others we visited it seemed streets ahead. It was difficult for mother and us but staff at the home were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble
for them. One stand out thing was the daily entertainment brilliantly organised by them. So inventive and creative with ideas to stimulate residents.

I am always greeted with a smile by the staff! The activity carer works very hard, creates a terrific atmosphere in whatever the residents are doing. I enjoy the activities whenever I am in attendance. The food looks appetising and I am always offered drinks. All the staff, in general, are aware of
each residents needs. They deal with them quietly and with a lot of patience. It is always a pleasure to come to Langley Haven.

My first visit to Langley Haven when I was selecting a care home for my father, was greeted by one of the duty nurses with a warm smile. Being sat down to talk to the manager at the home who came across extremely caring and listened to my concerns of letting dad "go" and have others look after him.
The manager made me feel completely relaxed and at ease with placing dad into their care home.

We moved my parents into Langley Haven just over a year ago as fathers dementia had worsened and he shares a twin room with my mother who is of sound mind.
The home have done a great job of looking after both their needs. We are especially pleased with the number and variety of activities the home
organises. They also look after both parents' medicines and hospital visits very well.

Over the months our mother has been here, we have felt glad that we chose Langley Haven. It helped what was a huge decision more acceptable.
Without the amazing activities lady, it would be a different story. The care is great, the carers are lovely but the activities make it a life, not just an existence.
More needs to be done when activity lady is not here.
Communication could be better, change in manager has made this worse. Big staff changes. Staff friendly and welcoming.

In the last month, my mother has been bed-ridden, following a head injury fall and several periods in hosptial. In her current state, staff attend to her regularly and with respect. All care about her and are patient and courteous. (No records are kept of visits and actions).
Prior to being bed-ridden,
she enjoyed varied activities and was immersed in day to day life.
All in all, level and standard of care is very good, with keen, attentive and understanding staff.
Little evidence of higher management (seen by me once in circa 25 visits).

Recently I have noticed the home smells of urine as you come in and the large lounge as well. It always used to smell nice but not recently.
I have mentioned this to the manager, especially as we have to pay £100 a week more, we don't want to see a drop in standard.

The staff are kind and caring and do their best to look after mum. She is safe and well-fed, the food is home-cooked and good. There are plenty of activities, visits from outsiders such as school children and occasional outings.

Staff are attentive and good-humoured despite the challenges. They are very hard working. Staff know mum's likes and dislikes and endeavour to provide what she needs - in the face of some physical resistance.
Activities are of a good standard, lots of variety indoors and out. Small and large groups.
Birthdays celebrated in style.

I visit an elderly friend here every two to three weeks and I can see such a difference in her well being and care. The staff are very attentive and helpful with her personal issues and I can always see such a good and happy demeanour every time I visit. The staff of all categories are excellent, the
living conditions are warm and comfortable and clean, and there is always so much activity with interaction going on. I'm so glad my friend is here at Langley Haven as I think she would have faded away by now.

When you arrive at Langley Haven you receive such a warm reception, there is always a smile on all the staff members faces. The home is exceptionally clean and tidy and a welcoming comfortable environment to visit my grandparents within. Nothing seems too much trouble and they go to great lengths to
entertain and occupy the residents. When I visited it was for a Christmas party that they had put on for the residents, my grandparents had a lovely time, especially as so much thought and planning had gone into it. To know that they are someone where so much thought has been put into providing the best care and stimulation for them is greatly comforting particularly when they are at a point in their lives of great vulnerability.

Over the course of my volunteering for nearly a year at Langley Haven, it has taught me new skills, such as organising, communicating with the staff (who are really friendly and extremely supportive) and also the elders. Langley Haven has amazing facilities such as it's main hall/room which is very
spacious.
The staff members are relentless in terms of commitment towards their work and I really recommend anyone visiting Langley Haven because it's just simply outstanding.

This is a truly fantastic care home. From the second you walk in you are in such a caring atmosphere! It really does feel like a big family!

The care staff are wonderful and very understanding of the residents' needs and wants. The entertainment co-ordinator is fantastic - she has such good ideas

on outings - always puts such effort into the residents' birthdays and makes them feel very special - so lucky to have her at Langley Haven!

The cleaning staff and maintenance work so hard as well!

When and if I need residential care, I hope the Langley Haven will have a room for me, as the Haven is run like home from home and has been for the past three years I have been coming (every week).
For the home to have an entertainment coordinator who has the ability to involve the residents in a wide
range of activities inside and outside the Haven is invaluable.

An excellent care home. Engaged, caring staff. Good food. High standards of cleanliness. Exceptionally good social/stimulation programme - particularly for residents suffering with dementia.
I was so pleased with the way the home looked after my father. We were happy for my mother to become a resident
there as well.

The staff are very welcoming and include you in mealtimes. We were invited to have Christmas dinner which was lovely. All meals are freshly prepared. Staff go beyond expectations and regular visits/trips out are arranged. Entertainment is very good. Cannot fault the staff.

Senior members of staff

were very helpful upon my grandmother's recent death. I will definitely be recommending the home to friends. I hope it is still around should I ever need it!

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.427)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.427) out of 10 for Langley Haven Dementia Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.727 for Langley Haven Dementia Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (57 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 77 Ratings = 4.727
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Langley Haven Dementia Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
