Langley Haven is "home" to my mum. I trust the staff give my mum the care and dignity she deserves. The personal touch provided by both staff and management is second to none. Last Christmas my mum was on the verge of passing away, the support we received as a family will never be forgotten. After being
told she would pass away within a week when she would have her treatment stopped I was assured she would be cared for until the very last moment of her life in the care home, she now called "home" with her friends (the staff) around her.

Volunteering in Langley Haven is an excellent experience which lets you seek into the health care sector of work. The staff have caring and motivational personalities. The care home is neat and clean at all times and always follows the health and safety precautions. All service users are included in
all activities such as trips, shows, crafts. Seeing service users enjoying the activities is also rewarding for the staff.

I have found Langley Haven to be an outstanding care home. The residents are treated with the upmost dignity in a warm and family atmosphere. When one is faced with making the momentous decision to have to put the person you love into a care home after 46 years of married, it has to feel like "home
from home". I have always been made to feel part of the wider family of Langley Haven, enabling me to enjoy quality time with my husband taking part in the varied and stimulating activities. My husband is always clean, well fed and happy. Thank you Langley Haven for making this most difficult decision of my life so much easier.

As a family we have found Langley Haven as an excellent facility to provide care for our mum who is suffering from dementia. What sticks out as a real positive is the attitude and caring nature of the staff. Facilities are clean and my (our) opinion is that the home compares better than other homes
we viewed prior to mum being admitted to care. Opinion based on 11 months experience as mum admitted Jan 5th 2015.

Langley Haven put the "care" into "care home". Mum was very happy here, she needed stimulus and got lots of it with one on one attention with staff and residents. The staff try to accommodate every need (and succeed) nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and plentiful. We feel part of a
team and mum regularly took part in games, dancing and many other activities. It is sad reality that mums dementia prevented her ability to enjoy the memories she had at Langley Haven. With grateful thanks.

After keeping mum in her own home for as long as possible it was necessary for her health and safety to have 24/7 care and for social interaction. Langley Haven has wonderfully provided this. The staff are all so kind, caring and understanding. The social activities are amazing from singing to visiting
entertainers to outings, near and far. The food too appears to be excellent and care is taken over special diets, such as soft food.

Carers excellent - showing endless patience and kindness when assisting my husband who is very difficult. If a health problem arises such as infections, breathing difficulties etc. a GP is called to the home immediately. Any concerns I have are always listened to and resolved where possible. Regarding
activities there is nearly always something going on, such as exercises to music, craft work, entertainment from visiting singers/dancers. Finally I visit the home several times a week and am always made welcome.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.427)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.427) out of 10 for Langley Haven Dementia Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.727 for Langley Haven Dementia Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (57 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 77 Ratings = 4.727
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Langley Haven Dementia Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
