I have two aunts in The Laurels. One has been there for a couple of years the other moving in March this year.
The care they receive is excellent and the staff really helpful.

I would have no hesitation in recommending The Laurels as an excellent care home.

Very poor management that lacks empathy and understanding. Poor communication with resident's family over a difficult time and using the word ‘fine’ on enquiring about a relative.

The care staff were brilliant and my mum was cared for and loved by them, although all the staff have now moved on to other jobs.

The Laurels is the second care home that my husband has been a resident of. I was lucky to be able to move him to The Laurels that is in Wickford a couple of years ago from a previous care home. I live in Wickford, so moving him here made it easier for me to see him. I was worried about moving him, but I am so glad I did, as The Laurels have proved to be very well run and the staff are extremely caring. Although like most care homes, they could do with more staff. My husband has settled in well and seems content. Unfortunately, he doesn’t speak, so I can’t find out from him how he feels, I can only go with what I have observed. Sadly Covid did stop me from being able to see him, but now the home has sorted the procedures and sourced the necessary personal protective equipment, I can see him now, but because of all the palaver of getting Covid tested and having to book an appointment, I only see him once a week. Although I could see him more than this. More staff would equal better person care.

Following our Mum's admission to hospital in October, my sister and I were given 2 days to make long term care arrangements for our 92-year-old mother as she was not able to return to her sheltered accommodation. Having visited The Laurels we were left with no doubt that it would be the right place for her - a decision which in the fortnight she has been there has been confirmed to us countless times as the correct one. We have been extremely impressed with the care that Mum is receiving thanks to the staff who are, without exception, kind, patient, respectful and above all, caring. It is a huge weight off our minds that when we are not with her, Mum is being well cared for at all times and is content. The atmosphere is further enhanced by other relatives who are all very friendly; our young grandchildren are always made to feel very welcome. I have no hesitation in recommending The Laurels to anyone looking for a Care Home for their loved one.

My mum stayed at his home for respite for one week only. Had a lovely time there with very friendly and caring staff. It was a home from home experience. If the time comes for my mum to go into a care home permanently, I would love it to be The Laurels.

My mum was only in The Laurels for five weeks but in that short time, she was so well cared for by all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they responded quickly and efficiently to any request, whether it was from mum or a relative.

The staff were always cheerful and smiling. Mum was so happy there due to the wonderful staff.

I chose this care home for it's warm and caring atmosphere. The staff are exceptional, all long-standing, showing a high level of support to residents and also to families.
The home is bright and open to large beautiful gardens with freedom to wander in and out.
All the food is freshly prepared, plenty of drinks, ice creams when it's hot.
There is a full-time activities organiser - music and sing along times.
The home is always full of visitors, who also support each other.

Excellent choice.

Following on from your initial welcome meeting I have left the Laurels feeling my mum will be living in a better environment than she does already. The care from staff was never an issue but I believe her surroundings are going to improve. I want to thank you for this meeting and would be pleased if you are able to achieve what you set out to. Thank you.

We as a family, on the whole, were extremely happy and satisfied with the care our mother received whilst at The Laurels. She was a resident for 2 and 1/2 years (approximately). She was, in our eyes, loved by all who cared for her. She, in return, loved them all back in her own way. It showed in her happiness when we visited. Thank you to all involved. We would recommend The Laurels.

I would like to mention that the home has experienced and qualified senior staff and management who are dedicated to giving quality care to all clients in the home.

They have a wealth of knowledge between them that they hand down to all new and old members of staff ensuring safe working practice on all aspects of care. That is why l always find the home a safe and happy place to live in.

I am a regular visitor to The Laurels, every time I visit I am met with the security procedures of having to be authorised for access, I am always welcomed by staff and advised where the resident is located.
The Laurels always smells fresh and welcoming, I have been present when meals are served which I must comment looked very nice.

The staff are respectful whilst carrying out their duties by being both professional however with that very important personal touch.

Whenever I have cause to ask a question this is either answered by the staff or if required referred to a senior or manager, who have always attended to my query.

The Laurels is my mother's home, she really loved living there. I could sleep at night knowing my mum was safe, cared for, warm, well-fed and most of all loved.

The manager Christine sleet is an amazing lady and goes above and beyond for all the residents and families.

Dad was only at The Laurels around seven months but the care shown to him was excellent with staff getting to know his likes and dislikes.
When they knew he loved table tennis, they even got a net and bats and I would often find them having a game with him.

He was treated with compassion and dignity at all times. The manager goes above and beyond to ensure residents happiness. When he became very ill, nothing was too much trouble and the kindness and support staff showed to him and to us as a family helped us through a very difficult time. The manager and staff are not only brilliant but also very genuine. I have nothing but praise.
