Westcliff Lodge has provided wonderful, compassionate and professional care for my mother. She has been at the care home for almost a year now and has settled in far better than I could ever have hoped for. The staff are always vigilant and attentive to her needs, all of which has given me peace of mind that she's comfortable, well looked after and most importantly, happy and safe.

WL has most certainly made a massive effort to improve services , food , activities. To their credit. It is a family like environment with dedicated staff who know the residents really well, The food is prepared and cooked there by an experienced chef, the menu is varied , accommodating all religious and personal choices. The nursing care is good when all the actual home staff are there .. agency staff are sometimes required .
The manager is easily contacted for any questions or queries ,and is extremely helpful .
Family is contacted immediately should there be any issues.
Family and friends can visit at any time and may make use of a communal room for family celebrations etc .
Medical assistance is called for immediately should it be required .
A nurse practitioner visits every week .
As does the hairdresser.
A chiropodist is also available
Activities are also included such as music , bingo drawing etc .

Nobody wants their loved one in care but WL helped us all accept the situation

When mums independence declined, she required increasing support at home. Following a recent hospital admission, being discharged home with a care package and had limited opportunities to regain independence/ communication. Mum's life changed when she moved to Westcliff lodge, Nikki and her team provided essential support following an unplanned, urgent move became necessary. Staff supported Mum in bringing personal items and memories, as a family we have been made to feel genuinely welcome. All staff encourage mum with choice,, respect and dignity. Mum is supported with personal care, regular conversation, social opportunities with other residents, and the option to eat in the café. The team consistently accommodates her preferences and they goes out of their way to support her needs. I am always made to feel welcome during visits, and when I am not there, Nikki and staff provide regular updates, advice, and reassurance. Their support makes a significant impact :)

It's just been over 1 year that the care home have been looking after a friend. After the stresses of losing a leg and suffering with short term memory , the home has always put his need 1st which was welcoming. My friend has recovered very well too well. As well as my friends needs have always made me welcome and provided a meal even when I have visited during meal time. A well placed team that will look after you're friends or relatives I'm sure.

The care home always gave my mum excellent personal attentive care at all times day or night and offering her great companionship.
She was always treated with respect and her needs were always accommodated with dignity.
As her son I was always informed of any changes day or night if any circumstances that I needed to be made aware of occurred as I do not live in the UK.

The staff were always cheerful and professional and always made us feel welcome when we visited .

My mother was in Westcliff Lodge for 1 weeks respite care. She has dementia and end stage renal failure. I found all of the staff caring, helpful and any requests we made were adhered to.
Food and drink was plentiful and residents always had a glass of juice beside them.
I didn't see any activities being carried out but I may have missed them.

Overall, I was pleased with her care and would use the home again.

All the carers were attentive, experienced and sensitive to my father's needs. All concerns were acted on speedily and explanations were given readily. The care staff were most kind, helpful, friendly and generous with their times and duties. The manager of the rest home always replied to my emails and the deputy manager led his staff extremely well. Meals were made from fresh vegetables and other food by a very good chef who adapted my father's meals to his needs. We were very happy with the service provided by all and knew Dad's requirements were in good hands which was comforting.

My father was admitted in to Westcliff Lodge from Brentwood hospital as an end of life resident and obviously we thought a couple of days but my god being in their care seemed to bring him back to life. The care he was given was second to none. What a fantastic team of carers. Sadly Dad passed peacefully in their care but couldn't ask for his last few weeks to be any better.

Thank you to the manager and all the team at Westcliff Lodge.

I first came upon Westcliff Lodge back in August 2020 when I had to put my father into a care home. I felt very guilty about doing this so did some research into various residences in the local area. After speaking to one of the staff at Westcliff Lodge I felt this was the right place for my father to go. It was during the height of Covid and government rules were very strict but the management and staff did their best to ensure we got to visit Dad as often and as safely as possible. All the staff showed a lot of kindness and patience towards my dad and he even said he really liked it at the lodge and if he didn't live there already he would go there on holiday. That says it all really!

My father was a resident in Westcliff Lodge for several years and passed away in their care in 2021.
His care throughout was caring and diligent. Towards the end, we were blessed with several younger carers who ‘adopted’ Dad and would spend time with him resulting in special connections.
The home may lack some of the glitz that you see elsewhere but this is compensated for by the personality of the staff. This meant a lot to my dad and to us as a family.

I’ve always felt an improvement could be made to the outside environment as it seemed a shame that residents couldn’t get more time in the fresh air during Spring through Summer.

My father arrived at Westcliff Lodge from the hospital, very frail, weak and confused. The care he received was fantastic. Over five years, until his death, he became more like the man he once was due to the care and attention he received from everyone at Westcliff Lodge.

My mum entered Westcliff Lodge after a long spell in hospital and ended up living here for 2 and a half years until recently when she sadly passed away. I have nothing but praise for all the staff who looked after her, they always treated her with care and compassion. It's an excellent care home where the staff really get to know the residents and treat them like family. The food produced by their in house chef is always a great standard, the rooms are a good size and it has a lovely garden area which my mum used to enjoy in the summer. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better place for my mum to spend her last few years, she was always very happy here.

Our mum recently became a resident at Westcliff Lodge after a lengthy spell in hospital. In the few weeks that she has been here the family are amazed at the progress she has made. In spite of her dementia, she has regained her appetite, her strength and is interested in her new surroundings. The fact that she has settled in so well is, without doubt, thanks to the wonderful staff who care for her, nothing is too much trouble for them. The care they provide is genuine, they clearly love their residents and it shows. We have nothing but praise and gratitude for them all.

My mother has been in the care of Westcliff Lodge for over 2 years now and even through the challenging times of Covid, the team - under the manager's leadership have provided the highest level of care.
Not only are they professional, perceptive and highly skilled, they also manage to combine their duties with consideration and friendship towards the residents.

Placing my mother into residential care was a difficult decision to make, but this was made so much easier by the warm welcome the staff provided.

From the very outset when we were advised to consider residential care for our mum, my siblings and I were unsure of how to start looking and just felt very upset by the process and the fact our mum was so unwell. The manager and deputy manager could not do enough to help support us through a very difficult time, they did everything possible to provide reassurance. Their response to us, their help and reassurance, taken together with the fact that we had a family friend who had resided here for so many years previously, all meant that Westcliff Lodge was the very best option for our mum.

Now that Mum has been in the Lodge for some weeks now, we have all been so impressed by the level of care and warmth all the staff show my mum. She is now eating much more (my mum was really struggling with her appetite for a long time), she is moving around much more and she generally presents as much happier within a very short space of time. I cannot commend Westcliff Lodge enough.
