Avon Park Rest Home is located in Park Gate, on the south coast of Hampshire. This well established privately owned residential home is purpose built and provides accommodation for up to 38 elderly residents.

Avon Park provides residents with a warm, relaxed, informal and homely atmosphere where well-being, care and comfort are of paramount importance. All staff strive to preserve dignity, privacy and individuality in a caring atmosphere.

Accommodation at Avon Park is provided in 38 single bedrooms and one double bedroom, all of which have en-suite facilities. All rooms are individually designed, bright, airy and beautifully decorated. All rooms have 24 hour nurse call bell system, individual central heating control, private telephone line and colour TV. Some bedrooms have patio doors and extensive views of the garden or surrounding area. Residents are welcome to bring their own personal effects.

Meals are taken in the spacious dining room that overlooks the front of the property and its beautiful gardens. All meals are freshly cooked and a nutritious and varied menu is offered. Fresh and local produce is used whenever possible. Menu examples are available on their website.

Avon Park has a private landscaped garden of 3/4 of an acre with well maintained flower beds, shrubbed borders and beautiful trees. Perfect for relaxing during summer months and socialising with family on sunny days.

  • Our Admissions Policy Policy Statement This policy sets out: • how the home handles referrals of prospective residents • to make sure that everyone is satisfied that the home will meet their needs • to organise the admission in ways which give the new resident the best possible start to their life in the home. Our home considers that much of the success of a period of residence lies in making the correct decisions and taking appropriate action at the time of a resident’s referral and admission. It therefore works in its admission and referral policies to achieve the requirements of Regulation 14: Suitability of Service of the Regulated Services (Service Providers and Responsible Individuals) Regulations 2017. Regulation 14 requires the care home to have an “admissions and commencement of the service policy and procedure”, which includes reference to: • arrangements for confirming that the service can or cannot provide a suitable service • details about the consultation process involved and the information to be considered • the assessment processes (including for emergency admissions), including who will undertake the assessment • the circumstances where a service will not be provided • opportunities to visit a care home which is under consideration • the arrangements for start of service. Our home has a suite of policies that meet these requirements, including Needs Assessment in Care Homes, Information Provision for Prospective Service Users, Trial Visits, Residents Bringing Private Property Into the Home, Service Users’ Contracts and Key Workers. The home will also follow all government guidance in respect of applications for admission during the COVID-19 emergency situation, including those referred through hospital discharge arrangements. It might be necessary to modify some of the procedures that are described below to ensure compliance. After visiting 4 care homes, I finally decided on Avon Park based on the level of carers to residents nd a very warm welcome by the manager and the staff, including the chef, the maintenance man was helping settle residents and getting them a cuppa. The staff seem to pull together to create a lovely
environment for the residents. The residents look happy and engaged since my mum has been in the home; she has been well cared for, she engages with the staff and is happy with the level of care she receives. She loves her room, which overlooks the gardens. She has joined with some of the activities that the home offers on a weekly basis. One staff member in particular is so kind and spends time with Mum to alleviate any worries. The person who owns the home is also very present.

The experience for my mother & myself has been without a doubt fabulous. The staff are without exception brilliant with their care and help to the residents. Overall I would without exception recommend the Avon Park to any future residents/families.

Mum loves living at Avon Park. She moved in nine years ago and has been happy ever since. She has her own hobbies - such as playing her piano and looking after her pot plants - but also likes joining some of the many activities on offer. She says it's lovely having her own space, but with smiling faces
popping by asking what she'd like for lunch or if she'd like to come to Exercise class or whatever. The staff are lovely, and very capable too, coping extremely well with her various health issues. Many of the staff have been there for many years - which I think says a lot. They're skilled, full of warmth, and work very hard to give every resident as full and happy life as possible, so I thoroughly recommend Avon Park.

My mother is beign looked after very well. She moved to the care home in December 2024. My father died unexpectedly in January 2025. The staff have been very kind and caring. My mother is happy and settled.

They've been looking after Mum very well for the past 6 months or so and encouraged up following her hip fracture.
The staff are kind and patient and listen to her (she speaks very slowly and quietly). She has peace and quiet there. Also, her meds are slightly complicated and this is handled impeccably

Mum recently had a four-week respite stay.
Avon Park is a wonderful family-run home with fantastic staff and facilities. The staff/management were so kind and approachable paying particular attention to individual needs in an empathetic and respectful manner. Mum stayed in one of the newly built rooms
which was 5*, en suite, garden view and access, warm, bright everything you could wish for. Throughout the home, everything is clean and well presented, with the common areas both cheerful and calming. Residents are encouraged to join in with the activities including bingo, church services and quiz morning. The meals were excellent with tea, coffee, juice and snacks always available both for residents and visitors. Mum's stay has come to an end now but she will return to have lunch with the staff and friends she made during her time there.

My cousin was made to feel welcome and at home as soon as she stepped into Avon Park, so much so that a two-week respite visit has turned into a possible permanent stay. Every member of staff (of which there are plenty) has been kind, respectful, welcoming and has treated her with the dignity she deserves.
The home is immaculately clean and nothing seems to be too much trouble. Rooms are spacious, bright and homely. Activities are available AM and PM during the week, including quizzes, arts/crafts, games and fitness. This is a very impressive care home which I would highly recommend to friends and family. Well done to all the amazing staff.

I have my Auntie as a resident. She is very happy in the home. My cousin, her nephew came to visit from the USA today. Myself, my wife, my sister, and my cousin were offered lunch so my cousin could spend more time with his auntie and as he lives in the USA he probably will not get to see her again.
The staff were warm and made us welcome. The lunch was first class and the chef came out so we could say thank you for a great lunch.

My uncle was only at Avon Park for a short period, but I will say that this time was the happiest I have seen him in a long time. The staff showed nothing but pure care for his every need. They actively worked to get him used to his new surroundings and enjoy his new life. There was an instant understanding
and respect for the man as a person, they tailored his care and the attention they gave him to make him feel involved in the decisions that were made. During his healthy days with Avon Park, he enjoyed nice meals, more than the odd glass of wine and time outside to enjoy the spring weather. His room benefitted from a door to the outside courtyard, and as a previous architect, he took a great deal of pleasure in, and overseeing the expansion works. My distance from him meant that social media calls were necessary and these were always welcome, with help to get the most out of them. I also was updated with a newsletter with photos, which was very comforting. Highly recommended home.

My father (95) has just spent the last few months in Avon Park. The care and kindness he received in my opinion was excellent. His physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs were met with care and dignity. After visiting him I would leave with our worry as I knew he was being well cared for. He
had the choice to spend time in his own room or engage with the other residents. Moving my father to this home was one of the best decisions. Many of the rooms have outside doors to a courtyard. The home is very homely and friendly, with an excellent manager who kept me well informed of any changes. No dementia and stay for end of life.

I visit Avon Park and have done so weekly for nearly 2 years now.
I am impressed with the kindness of all staff and the service they provide to their residents. The facilities are always clean and tidy with a homely, welcoming feel for both residents and guests alike.

My mother spent five very happy years at the care home where not only did she appreciate the care and support that was provided but considered many of the care team to be friends. Warm, welcoming and on top of their game, they are a great advert for how to provide care in what is a very demanding sector.
Would not hesitate to move into the care home were the need to arise. Currently increasing their capacity, I wish them ongoing success.

Mum made the decision to find a care home she was finding it increasingly difficult to manage at home. Having visited several homes, Mum decided on Avon Park as it had a 'homely feel'. All staff are kind and caring and they have helped her settle in. Mum enjoys the activities and entertainment provided
and as she has sight loss there is always someone to help her if necessary. There is also always someone to talk to at the home if the family need to discuss anything with them.

Mum has been at Avon Park for several years and has been very happy there. After a short illness in hospital, she could not wait to get back. The team have been amazing in welcoming her back and are now working very hard to get her back to her old self. I really appreciate the help and support they

Mum has been at Avon Park since last October (2022) and was immediately made to feel at home by Amy and her team. The care and kindness shown to Mum has been amazing. Mum has had some health issues which have been dealt with promptly and effectively. The food is nutritious and home cooked and the team
work hard to maintain high levels of care and cleanliness, It has been such a relief for our family to know she is in such good hands - we would like to give a big thank you to Amy and her team for everything they do.

My mother has been a resident at Avon Park for over a year now. She settled in quickly, largely I think because of the individual approach to care depending on each person's specific requirements and preferences. The food is varied and homemade which is much appreciated. Activities are organised most
days (which are optional) and special efforts are made to celebrate both personal occasions and national events such as Christmas, Easter etc. All the staff are always very helpful and the fact that it is a family run establishment contributes to a more homely feel. Avon Park was recommended to us at a difficult time and we are so glad that we chose to come here.

Having visited friends in Avon Park Residential Home, this was my choice for residential care when it became necessary for me. I have not been disappointed, my room is comfortable, the staff are considerate and caring and I enjoy the choice of menu.
The garden has a courtyard for seating and the other
outside areas are decorated with pots of flowers and shrubs.
