Broadmead Resthome is a Newbury-based care home, ideal for individuals with a variety of care needs from general and personal care, to specialist mental health or dementia care. It provides a comfortable lifestyle with access to a team of professional, caring and skilled carers with specialist training, who are available for residents at all hours of the day and night.

The team is well trained and qualified in delivering person-centred care. They have built up a strong community reputation for delivering a friendly and professional service that welcomes loved ones and remains up-to-date with key sector developments.

I have found Broadmead to be excellent in every area and my father is very well cared for. He has very complicated communication issues and all the staff are very kind and patient. We are very welcomed when we visit and it feels very much like the residents home.

Welcoming staff and a lot of interaction with residents. Varied menu providing a balanced selection of food and drinks. Good overall decoration and cleanliness of the property. The one real concern is the difficulty in understanding one or two key members of the care staff I.e.use of the English language, particularly in relation to phone calls between them and myself in relation to care updates for my very elderly father in law. He cannot understand or hear what they say

What a wonderful resthome we found for Mum. The staff are simply wonderful, full of smiles and always ready to help. Our friend has been at Broadmead Resthome since November 2024 and is gradually settling in. We have been so impressed with the care given by all members of staff, encouraging her to join in when she feels able but equally happy for her to spend time in her room bringing meals to her if necessary. It's
great to follow Broadmead on social media and see all the activities that the staff organise for the residents. The home is spotlessly clean, the food served is excellent and the birthday cake made for our friend was superb and much appreciated, especially as it was the Christmas party day so a lot going on for the staff.
The management is very good at keeping us informed regarding her medical care. Walking through the front door, one immediately senses a very happy and relaxed atmosphere.
I can highly recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a home for their loved one.

Mum has been at Broadmead Resthome for just over three months and has settled in extremely well. The staff are so kind, caring and always appear so jolly! Mum's participation in the numerous activities has increased significantly due to the encouragement of the fabulous staff. Whenever I visit mum,
always tells me that all the staff are so lovely and she is very happy. I am very impressed with all aspects of Broadmead. I always get a warm and friendly welcome whenever I visit and always informed on mum's welfare. I feel very reassured that Broadmead are caring for mum in a kind, compassionate manner and I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend it.

Dad was a resident for around two years and was looked after amazingly - when he passed away last December, not only did they treat him with the respect and dignity he deserved, they were so caring toward myself and my siblings, giving us as much time alone with Dad as we needed.
Dad was admitted to
the care home towards the end of lockdown, it was very rarely we were told we couldn't visit and they made sure that all their residents were kept safe.
The carers are all fantastic, very empathetic towards residents' needs and would let us know as soon as possible if there were any medical concerns or problems.
The food was good quality and there was always lots of activities and entertainment.

My father is looked after extremely well. Whilst frail, he likes to walk, and the staff are always provide a steady hand if needed. The carers are all wonderful and let us know immediately if there is a medical concern or issue so we are always informed. Whenever we ask him if he is happy the answer

Went to visit my mum on the 7th of July 2024. My sister and I were both blown away by the attention they gave my mum and us as relatives. My father was a resident at Broadmead Resthome for around three years. From the day I visited when searching for a care home, the place felt like a home, not a business. The staff throughout his time their were compassionate, caring and helpful. In three years, our family had some real ups and downs
with Covid and various issues with Dad's deteriorating health. At all times we were informed and updated of what was happening. The food was of good quality, lots of interactive entertainment (just check the social media page for a view) and a smile when you were arriving and leaving. With all the challenges the staff have to deal with in a care home, they have always done a great job in my opinion.

Broadmead Resthome is excellent in every aspect of cleanliness and care.
My mum has been with them for two years this month, l feel she is getting the best care from the staff who are kind, caring and compassionate and treat Mum as they are their family member.
There is always something going on at
Broadmead, whether it's singing and dancing dog visits or the local vicar.
As a family, we are always treated with a wave and a smile from the staff.
The staff encourage everyone to get involved with day-to-day activities.
They have the paper read to them, they get involved in the village and local celebrations. (They are always celebrating something, they like a good party).
I feel Mum is in the best place as Broadmead meets all Mum's care needs with compassion and kindness.

Dad has been at Broadmead Resthome for two years now. He settled in quickly and it has been a huge relief to have the confidence that he is safe and well looked after. At times, his behaviour has been challenging due to his dementia but the carers are unfailingly patient and kind. I am so impressed

Mum has been a resident at Broadmead Rest Home for two years this month, my family and I feel very secure in the knowledge that Mum is being cared for to a very high standard, she is safe and all her needs are met, the staff are all extremely kind and caring, they are always very encouraging and very
often put a song to all Mums needs. The Broadmead offers a wide range of daily activities and very often has visiting acts the staff encourage all residents to participate, it's so lovely to see pictures via the social media which are kept up to date. My mum is very well cared for at Broadmead Rest Home and I feel very reassured she is safeguarded in a lovely environment. All the managers and staff I have encountered and interacted with are very welcoming and helpful. I am kept informed and updated if there are any changes or situations that arise.
I am also able to call and speak to Mum easily. I feel safe in the knowledge that I can call or email the management team and they get back to me very quickly. Broadmead seems to me to be a modern, bright spacious accommodation with plenty of room to roam for the residents. The staff are very attentive and have a good rapport with the residents but are also good with us as family members too. All in all, I would highly recommend Broadmead Rest Home to anyone.

Mum has resided at Broadmead Resthome for just over a year now, and I have nothing but praise for how she been treated and looked after during this time. Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2013

I have dedicated over twenty years to working within the healthcare sector, beginning my journey as a trainee Healthcare Assistant in a neuro-rehabilitation hospital in Wiltshire. From the very start, I knew that supporting others was my calling. As I progressed through roles in both nursing and residential homes, I gained invaluable experience caring for residents living with dementia and learned the importance of patience, empathy, and truly person-centred care.


In 2013, I joined Broadmead Resthome as a part-time Healthcare Assistant while raising my two young children. Over the years, I grew within the organisation, becoming a Senior Carer and later Head of Care. Each step allowed me to take on more responsibility and deepen my understanding of how to provide compassionate, dignified support to those who rely on us.


While at Broadmead Resthome, I achieved my LMC Level 5 qualification and was promoted to Deputy Manager. In March 2024, I was honoured to be appointed as the Registered Manager.


I am incredibly proud of my journey, the people I have supported, and the team I am privileged to lead. I believe wholeheartedly in creating a warm, safe, and respectful environment where residents feel valued and cared for. Using the knowledge and experience I’ve gained, I am committed to guiding my team so that together we can continue to provide the very best care for every individual who calls Broadmead Resthome their home.

Trudy Farley

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2017

I have worked within the healthcare sector for over twenty years. I began my career as a Healthcare Assistant and have since gained extensive experience across a range of settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and community care.


I later spent many years supporting adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs, progressing into roles within supported living and community services. During this time, I developed strong leadership skills and advanced to Team Leader before serving as a Deputy Manager for six years.


I hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification and remain committed to continuous professional development.


In 2017, I joined Broadmead Resthome as a Healthcare Assistant, seeking to broaden my knowledge and experience within a different area of care. Over the past three years, I have progressed to Senior Carer and then Head of Care, roles that allowed me to take on greater responsibility while working closely with HCA and SHCA colleagues to support and develop their practice. In March 2024, I was delighted to be promoted to Deputy Manager of Broadmead Resthome.


I am also proud to serve as Broadmead’s safeguarding Champion, attending specialist training and sharing best practice with the team to enhance the quality of care we provide.


Like everyone at Broadmead Resthome, I remain dedicated to ensuring our residents receive the highest standard of compassionate, person-centred care.

Job Title: Maintenance Joined: 2017

I joined Broadmead in 2017 as a part-time driver, a role that allowed me to balance work with caring for my then young children. Before joining Broadmead, I gained many years of experience as a HGV driver, developing strong practical skills, resilience, and a disciplined approach to safety and responsibility. These qualities have continued to support me in my career within the care home sector.


In 2019, I transitioned into the Maintenance role at Broadmead, where I now take responsibility for ensuring the building, equipment, and grounds are safe, well-maintained, and comfortable for residents, staff, and visitors. I carry out both planned and reactive maintenance, conduct safety checks, and handle a wide range of repairs to keep the home running smoothly and efficiently.


Working in a care home has deepened my appreciation for the importance of a secure, well-kept environment, especially for older and vulnerable residents. I approach every task with patience, respect, and clear communication, always ensuring minimal disruption and a reassuring presence for residents.


I work closely with management and external contractors, maintain accurate compliance records, and uphold high health and safety standards at all times. With a strong work ethic, practical skill set, and a commitment to creating a safe and homely environment, I take pride in contributing to the wellbeing and comfort of everyone at Broadmead.

Job Title: Residents Service Manager (RSM) Joined: 2024

I joined Broadmead in November 2024 as head of activities and wellbeing, I had a promotion in April 2025 as Resident service manager.
I returned to the healthcare sector after a 15 year period of retraining within educational settings and horticulture.
I worked across local authority funded projects within schools, day centres, charities and care homes executing various programmes and during this time developing a greater understanding of dementia specific activities.
I gained both teacher training and dementia training qualifications and combined my knowledge of floristry and creative artistries to develop my role as the head of activities and wellbeing.
I have a passion for care and the ability to engage others with my enthusiasm for learning and positive wellbeing. it gives me immense pleasure to see others enjoy a meaningful life through engaging daily activities.
I am eager to continue to learn and grow my knowledge and skills to bring the best possible care I can to our residents. Everything we do is aimed at ensuring residents at Broadmead Resthome have an enriched, comfortable and enjoyable stay with us.

I joined Broadmead in August 2025 as the Head of Activities and Wellbeing.
My career began in the Army, where I first learned the fundamentals of welding and gained the leadership and life skills that set the foundation for my professional journey. I went on to build a 15-year career in the welding industry, progressing through the ranks.


After many successful years in that field, I felt ready for a new direction—one that offered deeper meaning, personal connection, and the opportunity to make a lasting, positive difference in people’s lives. This led me to the care sector, where I have discovered a genuine passion for enhancing the well-being of our residents.


I strive to create meaningful, engaging activities that bring joy, purpose, and comfort to those in our care. Alongside this, I am committed to supporting residents emotionally—being someone they can rely on, talk to, and trust. I also enjoy raising funds to further enrich our activity programmes and ensure we always offer something special.


I bring together all the skills I’ve developed throughout my working life—leadership, teamwork, communication, creativity, and resilience—to thrive in this role. I joined Broadmead in 2025, bringing with me over 40 years of experience in the catering industry. My background spans a wide range of establishments, including casinos, military catering, pubs, hotels, restaurants, and care homes. This diverse experience has given me a deep understanding of food service at every level, from high-volume operations to personalised, resident-focused dining.


Throughout my career, I have developed a strong passion for delivering high-quality meals that are both nutritious and enjoyable. I thrive on the challenges that catering brings—adapting menus, meeting dietary needs, managing kitchen operations, and continuously improving the dining experience. For me, a clean, empty plate is the best reward, as it shows that the food I prepare brings comfort and satisfaction to the people I serve.

I am a dedicated and compassionate professional with 25 years of experience in housekeeping and customer service, supported by 15 years of child care experience with the U.S. Military, where I developed a strong sense of responsibility, structure, and care for individuals of all ages. My background allows me to bring both high-quality housekeeping standards and a warm, person centred approach to a care home environment.


With extensive experience in maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety, I am committed to creating comfortable and dignified living spaces for residents.
