Very happy with the care, staff and facilities. Uncomfortable as other residents mostly suffered from dementia at various levels, whilst I was there for just a weeks respite care.

Overall Experience

The care given was excellent and I was very reassured by attention given after a rather distressing time in hospital. Medication given particular atention. I had hoped for more interaction and activity. This may be rather unreasonable given that my husband has rather particular needs. He thoroughly enjoys his time and displays a degree of independence usual at home. THank you so much.

My aunt lived at The Lawn for more than five years. She made many friends among her fellow residents, staff and members of the very active Support Group. These were five of the happiest years of her later life. She was a very strong-minded person and the staff allowed her independence and dignity while giving her all the care and support that she needed.

Excellent caring staff at all levels but often were short staffed.
Could do with more activities.

Overall, I would recommend the Lawn.

My mother, who is 92 and has dementia and osteoporosis, has been at The Lawn for more than 2 years.
She is well cared for in a very safe environment.
The staff are always kind and spend time to ensure that my mother understands what is happening.
She is able to take part in a range of activities and outings which she enjoys.
The staff are generally knowledgeable and it is clear that they undertake regular training.

I have recommended The Lawn to friends and work colleagues.

My mother has been at The Lawn for over 7 years now and I have been very happy with her care. Everyone is always very attentive to her needs. When she has been ill, I feel that they all gave extra attention both to her and to me.
She is my only relative and I know that the staff are aware of this and they help me through any crisis.

I feel very lucky that she is in such a pleasant environment, although she is bed bound and does not come out of her room. I visit 2-3 times per week and always find the staff very friendly.

Lovely home. My mother-in-law is well cared for and enjoys the company and activities. Beautiful, well-kept grounds. Caring and friendly staff who treated residents as individuals - all staff, not just staff. Varied menu with good home cooked food served in a pleasant dining room. Wine and nibbles available before lunch and supper!

Steve Swift
Steve SwiftJob Title:Care Home ManagerJoined: 2025

"I have worked in the Care Sector for 27 years, including having helped set up and run a care agency for about eight and a half years; but my care career journey began following a career as a Sign Writer and Engraver.

I’d always wanted to work in the Care Industry as I had, and still do have, an inbuilt need to be able to have a positive impact on somebody’s daily life; it’s one of the most rewarding elements of my role.

At The Lawn, we have a caring, kind and devoted Care Team who are all dedicated to delivering individual, bespoke, great care to each resident and respite guest – I really couldn’t ask for a better team.

No two days are the same, but each day is totally fulfilling. I really enjoy making the residents smile and listening to their life experiences. My motivation is to support the older people we care for and show them the respect, compassion and empathy that they deserve.

Being able to support older people, having a positive impact on their day, offering reassurance so they know that I’m listening and will do everything within my power to help them is at the heart of what I love and am committed to doing, every day."
