Care Homes Owned by Friends of the Elderly

We moved our mum into Redcot when it became clear she was unable to stay at home. From the initial visit and throughout her short stay (despite her stubborn resistance to any form of help!), the staff were always kind, caring and very patient. We were well informed about any changes to her condition or medication and found everyone happy to answer our questions. I will always be profoundly grateful for the care and compassion she (and I) received during her final days which made a difficult situation so much more bearable.

If things had been different I believe mum would have been happy to live at Redcot. It has a happy and homely atmosphere, the garden and views are lovely, there's a variety of activities for residents and the staff form a caring and professional team.

My husband went into respite care for two weeks. He was well looked after and cared for, in a safe and pleasant surroundings. He enjoyed lovely food and care whilst in the care home.

What a wonderful place to be for the elderly to be in touch with the outside world from there home. A safe, bright happy place. the staff really care and involve everyone in the activities of the day. Mum always loved going over to the coffee shop for a hot chocolate and doing the word search. Thank you for your careing ways with mum. She always felt special.

I would take her every day if I could afford it the staff obliging & welcoming in everything they do.

Thelma enjoys the lunches and talks about the friends she has made, and in particular anything musical as an activity. Jeanetter in particular has very good understanding, excellent knowledge in respect of Dementia, and some of Thelma's presenting behaviours, so can offer support and advice. I have peace of mind when Thelma is at the centre knowing she is safe and well cared for, it is excellent value for money.

He is non verbal and his understanding is very limited but the staff cope very well with him

My father in law had been a resident of New Copford Place Care Home for the last 2 years and I can not praise them enough. Other care homes that I've visited may look fantastic but looks can be deceiving. What makes New Copford Place stand out is the dedication and care they showed towards my father in law. As well as caring for the resident's physical needs you will often see staff engaged in activities with the residents or just chatting to them. Many care homes just don't have sufficient staff to provide the level of care that my father in law received. When my father had to visit the hospital a member of staff insisted on staying with him until my wife arrived. I can not recommend then enough.

When I have stayed for lunch the food has always been extremely good and the chefs all very attentive. When the home holds events for relatives to attend the catering and entertainment/activities are incredibly well organised and the food always delicious! The staff work very hard and are all extremely caring.

Very well managed and caring home. From the moment we were shown around we felt at ease. The level of care from the staff was truly wonderful and we could easily see they genuinely cared about their residents. The food served was excellent, and there was a good variety of activities offered.

Mu husband received end of life care in The Bernard Surley. The staff were phenomenal and compassionate and dedicated, nothing was too much trouble. The home felt friendly and was a welcoming place for visitors in the final days.

Dad was previously in another care home nearer to us, but both dad and ourselves had concerns about his care at this location. This care home was part of a larger care company. Upon entering New Copford Place, both my wife and myself felt this warmth and the special touches around the home (my wife was a senior carer) before she retired. New Copford Place is a smaller, single level home with most of the staff having been there many years. We know dad has the very best of care now, both physically and emotionally. The food is also great, the dining room is like a restaurant.

This home has a dedicated experienced team. Every person is made is given individual care and attention. The staff always go the extra mile. An effort is made to have varied activities each day. The food is fresh and high quality

Mum has been in NCP for eight months now and it is clear she is settled and happy. This is down to the care and support she receives from EVERYONE at NCP. The regular updates from the Senior Carers which has just started is really useful, especially as my brother lives in the US, this update gives him a good perspective.

Dad enjoys his food which is always a good sign

My Mother-in-law isn't very sociable, she is taken down to lunch each day which she enjoys but will not participate in any of the numerous activities put on for the residents. I know that we made the right choice by choosing Redcot which is our nearest Care Home.

Mum (92) has been visiting the Bradbury Day Centre 4 days a week for over a year and I have nothing but the utmost praise for all the happy, friendly staff and for the support they have given her. I have visited several times, unexpected, and have found staff holding bingo, quizzes or singalongs. The atmosphere is friendly, supportive and totally uplifting. The staff have so much energy and they project so much happiness it's hard not to get involved with them.

My mum is Italian and, with her Dementia/Alzheimer's, has reverted to speaking in her original language - although she understands and speaks English! This did not diminish her enjoyment of being at the day centre at all. On the days she does not attend, she always asks when she is next going which is a really good indication to me that she enjoys her time there.

This day centre is absolutely wonderful. I would not hesitate in recommending to my friends and family.

Friends Place is outstanding in every way. After an impressive visit when it first opened, my husband and I spent two wonderful nights there. We were well looked after in lovely surroundings. He then began to go for day care and short respite periods. When it became impossible for me to meet his needs at home, we didn't have to start looking for somewhere suitable. He went to Friends Place for a month's respite, followed by a review. He is now a permanent resident and the staff are doing their utmost to give him personalised care, including creating a growing area for him outside his patio door. He is very well fed and encouraged to join in all the activities. The atmosphere is vibrant, with lots of laughter. Well-trained staff - such a caring team.

My Mum has been living at Friends Place for 4 months and we are delighted with the wonderful care and respect shown to her (and her fellow residents) on a daily basis by the staff. All staff are kind, patient and deeply committed to the wellbeing of each resident through the provision of highly personalised support. I have visited frequently and in all visits I see first hand exceptional care provision.

In addition, the facilities are superb. The rooms are spacious and modern providing plenty of storage and shelves to display photos, books, etc which means the rooms can be personalised for each resident. The open plan dining room/lounge on each floor provides a lovely social/dining area which is superbly used for meals, events, entertainment and activities. Residents are well supported to participate in activities whilst also having the freedom to choose how much/little they engage depending on how they feel each day.

Mum describes Friends Place as a big family. We are delighted.

Such friendly staff a beautiful setting nice bright spacious rooms decorated lovely throughout really a cosy nice environment lots of activities and staff always on hand to go the extra mile would recommend to everyone my nan absolutely loves it here
