Fantastic day care, run by an excellent team with humour, compassion and care.
My Mum has attended over the past year and it has been such a supportive and safe environment.
Mum said she loved "Great home cooked food, regular activities, music, dancing, crafting and quizzes' !
Staff go over and
above to support and befriend all the day care ladies and gents.
Thank you so much for making the past year so much easier for my family.

Friends of the Elderly Wallington Day Care

My grandmother, who is living with Alzheimer's, attended Friends of the Elderly Wallington Day Care for just a few weeks - but in that short time, the difference it made to her (and to us as a family) was truly remarkable.
From the very first day, the staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly understanding
of her needs. They created a safe, stimulating, and compassionate environment where she felt not just cared for, but genuinely valued. Every time she returned home, she was smiling, engaged, and eager to share little moments from her day - something we hadn't seen in a long time. Even though her time there was brief, she absolutely loved it, and we felt a huge sense of comfort knowing she was in such capable, kind hands. The team clearly go above and beyond for every person who walks through the door.

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. It was a pleasure to know your grandmother, even for the short time she was here. She was a lovely lady, and we wish you all well for the future.

The Manager and staff at the Day Centre are very welcoming, friendly, caring & helpful. They took very good care of my mum when she attended the day centre and made sure she was comfortable and happy. My mum enjoyed all the activities run by the day centre & there was always a happy & friendly atmosphere
at the centre. Thank you Friends of the Elderly for ensuring my mum had an enjoyable time when she attended the Day Centre.

My mum was a resident for 7 years. We couldn't have hoped for her to receive better care ,time and attention from fantastic carers and staff. The home is comfortable,in a fabulous setting and in addition to care provides for a wide range of play and social activities. Often said and quoted ' if only
other Care Homes were like this'

My mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and as a family we needed some support with mum during the day, to ensure she still has entertainment and activities, as I work full time. Wallington day centre was able to provide this experience for mum, mum really enjoyed going to the day centre and the staff
were so lovely. Unfortunately mum's illness progressed fast so we had to move her to a full time care home, but we know mum was super happy to stay at the day centre if she could. I would recommend the day centre for anyone that wants to ensure there loved one is looked after well and provides stimulation, other than just TV. The day centre staff are all wonderful and we miss them very much.

Mum, 96, has been attending Friends of the Elderly Wallington Day Care twice a week for nearly 2 years. Those two days a week became part of our routine and I know mum looked forward to her visits. Staff welcoming, kind, friendly, attentive, always made her feel welcome. Lovely, tasty food. Lots of
warmth and chats. Sadly, mum has had to go into a care home because her legs are failing her. I want to thank the manager and the team for their unfailing support and kindness to mum. It was much appreciated.

My mother has been with Friends of the Elderly for some years and is now very frail. I cannot fault the care she receives. She has needed everything done for her, including feeding, for quite some time. I am impressed with the presentation of her food and the time taken to ensure she eats all she needs.
Although Mum enjoys her own company, attention is paid to giving her stimulation. The surroundings always appear clean and tidy. During Covid, so much attention seems to have been paid to the safety of the group of residents, and agile thinking, such as visits through the windows, was welcome. I am so very grateful to all the staff who care so kindly.

It is difficult to rate all aspects of Orford House accurately due to the exceptional circumstances over the last 2 years, ie. Covid 19. As a family member, I have always had limited access (and, for significant periods, no access at all) within the home. I cannot comment on the food, what the activities
are really like (as we still cannot be involved in these or meet the other residents) and how all the carers treat the residents. Most of the carers I have met have seemed fine, (and some excellent) although rather overstretched. The setting of the home is beautiful.
Regardless of the effects of the pandemic, my family and I have several significant concerns about how the home has been managed during the last two years (2020-2022). I have made complaints about this. Improvements are definitely needed, notably in safety, overall organisation, communication between staff and with residents' families.
Reply from Jessica Stone, Head of Communications at Orford House Residential Care Home

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review for Orford House. We pride ourselves on delivering the best quality of care for residents at Orford House, so I would be keen to discuss your concerns with you if you are happy to. I would also like to reassure you that Friends of the Elderly has adhered to all government guidance related to Covid-19, which included the restrictions of visits over some periods of the pandemic. We appreciate how difficult this was for our residents and their families and we were delighted when government guidance allowed us to open our homes to visitors again. I hope that you have been able to enjoy time with your relative since the restrictions were relaxed. We endeavour to respond to complaints as quickly as possible and I would be keen to discuss your experience further so we can look into this for you. Should you wish to discuss I can be reached at Comms@fote.org.uk.
