    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The staff always treat me with kindness and a smile, even though I am not a frequent visitor. Concerns about my Mum on this visit were treated sensitively as changes I had noticed are part of the progression of dementia. This was explained to me sensitively, but the nurse also made her own observations and health checks in my presence to confirm. A heartfelt thanks!

For the last 10 years, I have been involved with the Bernard Sunley Nursing, Residential and Dementia Care Home as they cared for both my Mum and Aunt. I have nothing but praise for the care and kindness shown to both my relatives and to myself over the years.
The facilities are good and plenty of activities are arranged for those residents who wish for it and the patience of the staff is commendable. Thank you.

My father was discharged from hospital 10 weeks after a serious fall, which fractured 2 vertebrae in his neck. He was 95 years, frail and in a dangerous and delicate state as the neck was unstable, supported by collars. My father only spent 4 weeks at the home but was given such good care, friendship and support in a happy environment. He was bedbound but all his needs were attended to with respect. He was kept comfortable and he enjoyed the food and was eating well. Staff supported him and our family to the end.

My mother was diagnosed 25/07/2016 with cancer of an unknown primary, she was given less than a year to live and at that point had cancer in her lungs, liver, lymph nodes, adrenal glands, bones. She lived with myself and my family until the end of Septemeber when she began to have care needs which we could not provide, after a short stay in aWoking Hospice she was granted a place at Bernard Sunley. From the very beginning myself and my siblings felt a warmth from the staff at the home. My mum was a difficult patient to take on as although ill she didnt want to be in a home as she was only 63, the care staff and the nurses did their upmost to make her at ease and took all the nonsense she tried to give them. When it came to her end of life care they ensured she was treated with dignity and helped her pain releif as best they could even though they had little support from the pallative care team. They faced all this and still made mums death peaceful and helped us through the process too.

I visited eight different homes in the Woking area before deciding on Bernard Sunley.
My mother spent the last six months of her life at this care home. Even as a 98-year-old with a level of dementia she was extremely reluctant to consider this an option. However, from the outset, she enjoyed being in a nursing environment realising how much of a relief it was to be properly cared for in a nice room with a view.

From my perspective, I found everyone in the home was genuinely caring and wanted to do everything to make Mum comfortable. She was encouraged to take part in many of the activities which she clearly enjoyed. Towards the end of her life, the level of palliative care was both sensitive and appropriate. The level of support both she and ourselves (family) was outstanding. As a result, she passed away peacefully with her family around her and with full support of the nursing staff.

The Home has a great welcoming atmosphere with excellent communication from the whole team.

The entire staff at Bernard Sunley - nurses, administrators, helpers, cleaners - were most kind and considerate during the six months my mother was there. I was out of the country and telephoned regularly and the nurses gave me detailed current information about my mother and went out of their way to give her the phone to speak with me if she could. During my mother's last days the nurses were so sensitive, respectful, careful, and kind to my mother and to me. They completely understand what relatives are going through when their parent is facing her last days. Without fail, they were totally responsive, always asking me if I needed anything, they were very quick to address any question I had about my mother and always demonstrated complete respect for her care. Their primary goal was to make her comfortable and make sure she was pain-free. As a result of their attention to her needs, and respect for her wishes, she was able to die in peace.
Thank you!
