I have been visiting Osborne Lodge Rest Home for about 8 years. Firstly with my motehr in law living there and because she was so well looked after, when the time came for my own mother, there wa sonly one place she would end up going to. She's been in Osborne Lodge since June 2020. She does have dementia
and is bedbound, but is very well cared for. My mother in law died there 2022, she was 100 and 52 days old. My mother will be 100 in September this year.
Reply from Beverly Harris, Area Manager at Osborne Lodge Rest HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We are honored to be able to care for and support your Mother in Law and now your Mother, there is no greater reference than placing your own Mum with us following us caring for your Mother in law. It is a pleasure to care for Mum and we are so pleased you feel she is well looked after and cared for.

All staff at Osborne Lodge Rest Home are very professional, with obvious care & concern for the residents. The family is always advised of any changes in my mums condition & generally the family are involved in any of the homes activities. Staff are always busy but make time to address any concerns
or question from family or resident. We are extremely happy with Mum's care.
Reply from Beverly Harris, Area Manager at Osborne Lodge Rest HomeThank you so much for your lovely review, it is very much appreciated. Everyone works very hard to ensure that every resident and their nearest and dearest feel safe, secure and happy. We are happy to hear you feel so involved in the every day life of Osborne Lodge, this is part of the reason Mum and other residents feel so settled here, we are just part of the extended family, your love and care and input does not stop as they move into a care home, we work together to give the best possible care.

My mum has been a resident at Osborne Lodge Rest Home for almost three years now. The service and level of care since the initial enquiry up until now has been excellent. Every one from the manager, the carers, chef and cleaners always make you feel welcome and have time for you as a visitor, whilst
delivering first class care to the residents. The home operate an open door policy, they have nothing to die, you are always made welcome. It is down to that level of care that Mum is happy and still with us, thank you Osborne Lodge and all the staff.

My mum has been a resident of Osborne Lodge since April 2025 and is so happy there. The staff go above and beyond to care for her. Everyone of the staff are very friendly and helpful and are always available to chat if we have any concerns with mums health. The care home have a yearly summer party and
Christmas party for residents and everyone is welcome to attend. It is amazing! So much fun.The staff make sure everyone is having a good time and want for nothing.Food is fantastic and they always have a singer which everyone enjoys.Mum absolutely loves living at Osborne Lodge, she was always very independent and had her doubts about going into a care home after visiting residents in the past so this was a big step giving up her home. From day one we were made to feel so welcome. The staff made sure mums room was perfect even down to her favourite chair from home.We cannot thankyou enough for all the love and care you provide
Reply from Beverly Harris, Area Manager at Osborne Lodge Rest HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write a review and such a wonderful one at that! it really is appreciated and I will share it with all the staff. I must commend ALL the staff at Osborne Lodge for their kindness, empathy and constant care and attention towards my mother-in-law (mum). Everybody has made her feel welcome and part of the family...a true home from home.
The relief and confidence we have is all down to those wonderful care practitioners
and support staff who have mum's well being and care at the centre of all they do.
They also look after us, her family!! Organising events like Christmas Carols, Summer Events, WW2 Remembrance...in fact any excuse to put on a spread and entertainment for mum and her extended family and friends. We have asked them to put on a New Years Eve party :)
Words cannot express our thanks and appreciation for all those who care and support mum at this wonderful place!
Reply from Beverly Harris, Area Manager at Osborne Lodge Rest HomeWow! thank you so much for your wonderful review, it is truly appreciated. The staff work so hard to ensure the residents and their families are supported and cared for and a home from home is exactly what we hope to achieve. It is an absolute pleasure having Mum with us and caring for her. We will let all the staff know it is so important for them to hear this.
We will certainly look into the New Years Eve party suggestion :)

My mother has been cared for by the staff at Osbourne Lodge for a year now. They look after her so well. She was resistant to move to a care home but had to due to her not being able to be looked after at home. She loves it and is so much healthier. She participates in the group activities and the home
throws great summer and Christmas parties for residents and families. The staff are lovely and caring. The place has a very homely feel.
Reply from Beverly Harris, Area Manager at Osborne Lodge Rest HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write a review, it really does mean a lot to us. I will pass onto the staff your kind words.

My concern is after the residents have had lunch, as staff need their break, it leaves only one member of staff is on duty downstairs and one upstairs. I feel should a serious incident happen at this time there is not enough staff to help. Also my friend is close to being blind, and leaving her dinner
on her table which she cannot see, it is left to get cold. I have made to see that this is to be rectified.
Reply from Beverly Harris, Area Manager at Osborne Lodge Rest HomeThank you for taking the time to leave a review, positive and negative reviews are much appreciated as it enables us to consistently improve our service. Please let me reassure you around the lunch breaks, we have 6 staff on and 3 go for lunch at a time leaving 3 on the floor and the 3 left on the floor are supported by the head of care, deputy and manager. No staff leave the building at lunch so if an emergency situation occurred they would be there to attend and take their break after any incident. It is always a balance but one we feel we do achieve. We are sorry we did not get the meal service right immediately but hope we have now addressed these issues. Our door is always open if you wish to speak to us in regards to any other issues. Thank you.

I feel very disappointed with care at Osborne Lodge Rest Home, specifically end of life preparation, support and assistance in the final days of life. I regret my aunt being at Osborne Lodge for this reason alone. She did not wish to receive medical attention at end of life, which is fair enough, but
she was basically left to die alone without companionship. This is very different to the end of life care I have witnessed elsewhere. This is where Osborne Lodge needs to improve and treat residents with dignity in dying.
Reply from Beverly Harris, Area Manager at Osborne Lodge Rest HomeWe were so sorry to read how you feel around the care of your aunt at the end of her life. We are reaching out to you personally to discuss this, however, we would like to address what you have written as we do feel that our end of life care is not as described. Your aunt was seen by her GP, the frailty team, nurse and had an end of life care plan in place as well as anticipatory medication, if needed. As a family you were kept updated regularly and visited regularly, indeed family were with her until late in the evening just before she passed away. No treatment was withdrawn, food and fluid and care were offered and given regularly up until the end. You visited your aunt after receiving the call and personally thanked and hugged staff for their care and support. We feel we did appropriately care for your aunt at the end of her life, as her wishes depicted, she died peacefully in her home, with family visiting and staff supporting her throughout, with her pain controlled.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of our care home, we are very happy to hear you and your aunt are happy with everything, especially the staff, this is so important.
We were disappointed to learn that you found a table was not cleaned to the expected standard. We have a great domestic team who work very hard to keep the home clean at all times, but obviously, this was missed and we apologise for that. We will endeavour to not let this happen again.

We placed Mum at Osbourne Lodge as her Vascular Dementia has made it unsafe for her to be on her own. The management team and staff have all been very friendly and helpful in getting Mum to settle into her new surroundings. The atmosphere is bright and friendly compared to many other care homes which
is very important to us. This has been and continues to be a very positive experience and has taken a lot of the worry away from the family knowing that Mum is being properly looked after. As far as we can tell the food is prepared with fresh ingredients and served at regular times, certainly very few complaints from Mum. They take care to make sure Mum has the correct medication at the correct time and stays hydrated. The weekly visit to the home by a nurse is also reassuring. It is good to know that there are planned activities and a weekly bus trip for the residents. Overall we are very pleased with care Mum is receiving. Thank You.

I will share this with the team, it certainly is a boost to us all. My mum had to move into a care home after a stay in the hospital when it became clear she would no longer be able to cope in her own home. The manager of Osborne Lodge made me feel confident that the home would be ideal for her, and he worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition. His enthusiasm
and kindness, combined with the welcoming, friendly staff, have ensured that Mum has settled in well. She is joining in the many varied activities, encouraged by the carers and happily chats to me about what she had done. She enjoys the food and the changing menu and talks about her favourite meals. The home has a welcoming atmosphere and is kept clean, and I am delighted to see Mum so content. We can visit whenever we wish, and any queries are quickly responded to. Thank you to everyone at Osbourne Lodge.

The manager and his team have looked after my mother for the last year. They have become like family, very caring, friendly and considerate of both my mum and my needs, especially during a very difficult time for Covid. They cannot be faulted. His enthusiasm as manager is infectious, and all the team
are ready with a smile and do everything they can to help. My mother has been in three care homes for short visits previously, none compare to this lovely friendly family home.

I cannot thank Osborne Lodge enough for helping me to get my elderly mum out of hospital following a fall she had at our home on the 8th October 2020, and subsequently caring for her every need since. She fractured her kneecap and dislocated her hip resulting in two operations leaving her immobile and
in need of 24-hour care and rehabilitation mobilisation. The managers liaised with the hospital team and coordinated her discharge within two days. Since then they have organised absolutely everything including outpatient visits (with a carer going with her as I’m not allowed due to Lockdown) every fortnight to see her surgeon, working with the community occupational therapists ensuring Mum is safe and progressing according to plan; they have literally organised, arranged and done everything for her (and me). The care and attention to detail is faultless, from personal care to her dietary needs. This experience has completely opened my eyes, Mum and I are so grateful.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.086)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.086) out of 10 for Osborne Lodge Rest Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.386 for Osborne Lodge Rest Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (11 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.386
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Osborne Lodge Rest Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My name is Lisa, and I have worked at Osborne Lodge for the past 17 years. I started as a cleaner and enjoyed working in the home so much that I began to train and progress to become a carer, then a senior carer, head of care and then to deputy manager, making care my career.

I have loved every moment of my career, especially interacting with the residents and ensuring they are safe, happy and content. With every story and life history of our residents, I became more passionate and wanted to give the residents the best that I could. Passing on knowledge to new staff is another passion. Every day, I learn more than I thought possible.

My nan was my inspiration for my choice of career. She was a fantastic lady who taught me how to respect others, and I believe she is the reason for my caring nature. My nan passed on some lovely quotes, and this one always stuck in my mind: "enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realise they were the biggest" This is how I feel about care, even the smallest thing you can do for someone is the biggest thing for them.

I enjoy attending every training session and am working my way through level 5 in care management.

Outside work, I enjoy beach walks, spending time with my friends, good food and going to the gym.
