I cannot thank Osborne Lodge enough for helping me to get my elderly mum out of hospital following a fall she had at our home on the 8th October 2020, and subsequently caring for her every need since. She fractured her kneecap and dislocated her hip resulting in two operations leaving her immobile and in need of 24-hour care and rehabilitation mobilisation. The managers liaised with the hospital team and coordinated her discharge within two days. Since then they have organised absolutely everything including outpatient visits (with a carer going with her as I’m not allowed due to Lockdown) every fortnight to see her surgeon, working with the community occupational therapists ensuring Mum is safe and progressing according to plan; they have literally organised, arranged and done everything for her (and me). The care and attention to detail is faultless, from personal care to her dietary needs. This experience has completely opened my eyes, Mum and I are so grateful.

I have found the staff at Osborne Lodge to be communicative, polite and reasonably attentive. The home is clean and today, and as far as I can tell, is managed well. From what I have seen, food quality is good and is routinely served on time. The position of Osborne Lodge is very good being a very short distance from the shopping centre, and there is street parking directly outside where I have never failed to park. The cost of being a resident is very fair by comparison to other care homes that claim 5* treatment but may not achieve it.

Mum was very poorly when she came out of hospital and the home gave her extraordinary care. Wonderful care by a dedicated team.

The welcome and friendliness of all the staff members that I met immediately put me and my mum at ease at a very difficult time for both of us.
Her room was very clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated in pale grey and lemon, with patio doors onto a courtyard garden. Mum had her own little area with a bistro table and chairs and spent a lot of her time chatting in the garden.
She has early onset dementia and was quite anxious and tearful for a day or so but soon settled in and joined in various activities on offer. In the main lounge area, she was joining in with indoor croquet, chatting to several other ladies and cuddling the tiny resident puppy! Osborne Lodge has a lovely atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

The standard of care and cleanliness was excellent and mum said the food was very good indeed. I was very happy to entrust the care of my mum to Osborne Lodge and would highly recommend it.

My mother went to Osborne Lodge Rest Home for one week whilst we were on holiday. She was well looked after, had a lovely room upstairs in the new wing, she didn't join in with any activities but would have if stayed longer. We took her there as my mother-in-law lives there as well and is happy. My mother was impressed with the standards of the place, so maybe in the future could be a permanent thing for her.

My mother went into Osborne Lodge March 2018 for a 2-week "holiday" within the 2 weeks she decided to stay. It took her 2-3 months to settle properly, she is happy there and only a 5-minute drive from us. She gets on well with all the staff. She doesn't always join in with activities she has a lovely room on the ground floor with a nice outlook, seeing people come and go.

With all the bad media regarding care homes, I was nervous about my mother moving into one. I can honestly say my mind is at peace now as I have found the perfect home for her at Osbourne Lodge. Being a small home, it feels very warm and friendly. She loves all the home-cooked food and I enjoy their fresh cakes when I visit her. The staff treat her with dignity and respect and are a cheerful bunch.

My grandmother went in for daycare and is now a resident. She was initially reluctant to go in but now she loves it because she says the staff are all lovely and she has fun, they make her laugh. She likes the company. She is even eating better!

I looked after my mother but due to travelling a great deal she needed to settle her into a caring and comfortable home.

She loves it at Osborne Lodge and seems to have gained a new lease of life. Her room is extremely comfortable, the food excellent, and the staff caring and friendly. I would recommend it to anyone.

Both my parents came to live at Osborne Lodge in June 2016 as a result of my father having dementia. My mother needs very little help as she is mobile enough to do her own personal care, but does need help in and out of a bath.
My father needed twenty-four-hour supervision which he received at Osborne Lodge 100%. He was sometimes difficult to deal with but the staff handled it well.
Sadly, he suffered a stroke which was to end his life of ninety-seven years. He was discharged from hospital back into Osborne Lodge's care. He was then given end of life palliative care where nature took its course.

This care was excellent and I will never be able to thank them enough.

Osborne Lodge has been an absolute find we needed somewhere near home and somewhere we would be welcomed for a place for my husband. He needs day care to stimulate him all of which he gets with the activities and days out they provide. In the future as he has settled in so well, extra days and overnight will be booked for respite for me. What a find clean, homely, superb staff always happy.

We bought my mother to Osborne Lodge on April 1st after a four hour ambulance journey from Stoke-on-Trent. We were given a great welcome. Mum took a while to settle in but she was treated with great care and friendliness as was I. I visit mum regularly and am always amazed at the patience and jolly attitude of the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and the level of care is excellent. Osborne Lodge is more like a five star hotel than a care home. Mum has a wonderful place to spend to the rest of her life.

Lisa Shorey
Lisa ShoreyJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2006

My name is Lisa, and I have worked at Osborne Lodge for the past 17 years. I started as a cleaner and enjoyed working in the home so much that I began to train and progress to become a carer, then a senior carer, head of care and then to deputy manager, making care my career.

I have loved every moment of my career, especially interacting with the residents and ensuring they are safe, happy and content. With every story and life history of our residents, I became more passionate and wanted to give the residents the best that I could. Passing on knowledge to new staff is another passion. Every day, I learn more than I thought possible.

My nan was my inspiration for my choice of career. She was a fantastic lady who taught me how to respect others, and I believe she is the reason for my caring nature. My nan passed on some lovely quotes, and this one always stuck in my mind: "enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realise they were the biggest" This is how I feel about care, even the smallest thing you can do for someone is the biggest thing for them.

I enjoy attending every training session and am working my way through level 5 in care management.

Outside work, I enjoy beach walks, spending time with my friends, good food and going to the gym.
