At Alexandra Rose, carers work under the principle of - "This home is your home" and aim to provide a high standard of care in a homely, relaxed atmosphere, whilst all rooms are en-suite.

Residential care should never be regarded as a last resort. It can be a new beginning, which provides comfort and security in the latter years. It can eliminate the problems of day-to-day living and should be a most effective way of overcoming loneliness.

Alexandra Rose is proud to welcome residents into their extended family. The home encourages all residents to become involved in daily activities which include musical movements, memory quizzes, reminiscence therapy and reading periods. This encourages interaction and enables blind residents to be included in group activities.

The home is proud to outline the excellent cooking and presentation skills of the qualified cook, who has many years' experience of home cooking. The cook caters for the dietary and nutritional needs of all individuals, taking into consideration their individual choices.

Alexandra Rose has daily entertainment and many other therapeutic interactions, performances from entertainers such as musicians, singers and actors. As well as daily activities, the activity coordinator provides other interesting pursuits and entertainment.

Living at a distance can be a 'problem' when choosing a home for a parent who needs care. Alexandra Rose has made that choice far easier to make. My mother receives care and support from all of the amazing staff who have got to know her over the past months. Her physical needs are met with care and
dignity and emotional needs are monitored and tended to. I feel that I am kept informed, can call at any time and am made to feel welcome whenever I travel to visit. Mum lives in a beautiful, clean room and feels safe secure and valued. I couldn't ask for more.

The home is always clean and fresh smelling. The staff are friendly to visitors and helpful and supportive to residents. There always seems to be plenty of activities to keep the residents entertained, some purely for entertainment, some more participative to keep them active in body and mind.

My great Aunt has been a resident for around five years now. The care she receives just gets better and better. She was quite poorly recently, I was contacted and kept informed of her condition when I wasn't there. The staff are always friendly and caring.
They are attentive to my needs as well as
all the residents. It is always a happy place. We are very lucky she is there.

Overall as you can see, we are very happy with the home. There was a misunderstanding with a member of staff which should have been handled more professionally. But apart from that, we are happy with my mother's care.

Mother's care at Alexandra Rose is exemplary. We have been impressed by the genuine care and indeed affection with which she is treated by every member of staff. She is very happy there and frequently tells us that we made a good choice. Visitors too are always made welcome.

We live a long way away and can only visit every few months though we maintain contact through regular telephone calls and correspondence. The resident is our last relative in the area and so we are unlikely to be in a position to recommend anyone else.
Costs for care in our area are considerably less
(approximately a third less) than what our relative is paying and so we are unclear whether she is getting full value for money.
A concern is that the home does not often inform us of incidents such as a fall or hospital appointments and she has short-term memory loss and so can't always recall any details. As her closest relatives, it would be helpful to be told about such events.

Such a lovely atmosphere every time we visit. Always made to feel welcome by staff, cups of tea and coffee as soon as you walk in the door. Our great aunt has been a resident for some years and that is down to the attentive and loving care she receives from all the wonderful carers. It is difficult
to always get to Portsmouth to visit her, but when we do, it is very clear to see how happy and content she is at the home.

Mother is very happy and contented in the home and is particularly pleased with the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the meals. Facilities are good and the medical response, when needed, has been excellent.

Care is excellent. Staff are very helpful and caring. Food is good too. Every effort is made to make sure that the residents are happy. The rooms are clean and warm. There is always some form of entertainment eg. Music, bingo, cards etc etc which keeps residents active and that in turn, makes them happy.

This is a superb care home. My mum is so happy and settled now. She eats well, sleeps well and is mentally stimulated now and the improvement in her mental and physical welfare is enormous. I cannot praise this care home enough and it and its staff are heaven sent.


All mum's needs are met and she

is calm and content. I know she is safe and well looked after by staff who really care. This care home is clean, bright and uplifting - fabulous!
It is so very well run and you won't find a better place to live.

The home is clean and smart. We visit the rooms where the visitors sit and they all seem happy and like to see our dog Jake (P.A.T. Pets As Therapy). Sometimes we go into private bedrooms (on request) and they are very nice.

My mother has been a resident for 4 years and throughout that period I have been extremely happy with all aspects of her care. The home has also undergone improvements which have added to the extremely good standard of care and environment in which she resides. The staff are friendly, helpful and extremely
responsive to residents needs, which provides a very relaxed homely atmosphere.
The activities in particular provide excellent entertainment to add interest to the residents day. Management are responsive and very committed to the needs of the residents and myself as a relative my mothers behalf. Highly commended as a care home from my point of view.

I feel mum is very well looked after. The home is always lovely and clean. It never smells anything but fresh.
The staff are always friendly and helpful. I never have a worry to speak to anyone. The menu for the day is always displayed and looks good. The aroma from the kitchen is always lovely. I

My mother moved in March 2016 we can find no fault with her care she has settled in very well. There is plenty of entertainment plus hairdressing and chiropody. All the staff go out of their way to make mum as comfortable and as happy as she can be. The home is immaculate and everybody is made welcome.

This is a lovely care home. My mum has been there three months and is now happy, they have lovely home cooked food, good entertainment, lovely rooms and furnishing and absolutely excellent carers, who really care for the elderly and are on the ball with everything!!! from medication to people who are
not feeling themselves. They really can't do enough for the patients and their families Wonderful Place!!

I am extremely satisfied with the care provided for my mum. The staff are always helpful and my mum is very happy here. Her room was all brand new when she moved here and she is able to have all her own personal trinkets, photos etc. around for her. This makes it feel more like being at home.
Entertainment
is provided every day for those that want to join in. My mum is very reluctant to join in, but if she feels she needs extra company it is there to be enjoyed. There are always cleaners on site and the rooms are kept spotless and bathrooms sparkling. I have never witnessed any unpleasant smells associated with care and as I visit nearly every day this proves that's standards are always kept high.
