At Alexandra Rose, carers work under the principle of - "This home is your home" and aim to provide a high standard of care in a homely, relaxed atmosphere, whilst all rooms are en-suite.

Residential care should never be regarded as a last resort. It can be a new beginning, which provides comfort and security in the latter years. It can eliminate the problems of day-to-day living and should be a most effective way of overcoming loneliness.

Alexandra Rose is proud to welcome residents into their extended family. The home encourages all residents to become involved in daily activities which include musical movements, memory quizzes, reminiscence therapy and reading periods. This encourages interaction and enables blind residents to be included in group activities.

The home is proud to outline the excellent cooking and presentation skills of the qualified cook, who has many years' experience of home cooking. The cook caters for the dietary and nutritional needs of all individuals, taking into consideration their individual choices.

Alexandra Rose has daily entertainment and many other therapeutic interactions, performances from entertainers such as musicians, singers and actors. As well as daily activities, the activity coordinator provides other interesting pursuits and entertainment.

My mum has been a resident at Alexandra Rose for 6 months now. I cannot fault the care and attention she receives from the staff who are both friendly and efficient communication between the team and the family is first-rate. Mum says that she now has peace of mind and I know that she is in good hands.
Choosing a care home for a loved one can both be daunting and distressing but both Mum and family are pleased with our choice.

My sister and I have always been happy with the care my mother has received. We are always informed about any changes to my mother's health.
There is always a nice atmosphere, and the home is always kept very clean.
All the staff seem very caring, and they are always friendly and welcoming.

My mother has been in the care home for six years now. We have been extremely impressed with the standard of care given to her. She is always treated with affection and dignity, especially now she is bedbound. The food is well planned and cooked. The management team is very committed and caring.

My mum was a resident at Alexandra Rose Care Home for over two years, her care has been exemplary during this whole time. Sending my mum to a care home was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I looked at lots of homes but I liked this one as it was small and had a really homely feel. My mum
settled quickly, she made new friends and benefited from the social interaction and activities run by the home. Every step of her journey was explained, photos were shared and we were always made to feel very welcome when we visited. I am truly thankful for the strong leadership team which keep everyone safe during the pandemic and ensured regular communication and opportunities to see mum 'through the window'. Mum passed away at the home, it was what she wanted, to be at home surrounded by people who cared for her. I want to thank all the staff and management team for taking care of my mum so well, I am so glad I trusted her into your care.

Prior to entering the home, my mum had numerous falls. The management kindly allowed her to stay on a monthly basis initially in order that she was sure of her decision. The staff and management are all very kind and friendly towards her and us as visitors too. Mum is very happy at the home.

My mother was a resident at Alexandra Rose for two and a half years. Until the lockdown, I had an overwhelmingly positive opinion of the care home and the care that my mother received there, although the manager was very defensive when challenged about anything. This culminated in him being verbally
abusive to me over the telephone on two separate occasions during the lockdown period. The second incident resulted in my 91-year-old mother being asked to leave her 'home' after the management decided to invoke the 'manager's discretion' clause in the contract. (To add insult to injury they then tried to withhold 50% of her deposit which was only returned upon threat of legal action). When I made an official complaint to the owner about the way I was spoken to by the manager, he didn't even have the courtesy to pick up the phone and speak to me, preferring to hide behind a keyboard instead. I did eventually receive a written apology from the manager, however, I doubt the sincerity of it.

Mum spent her last 3 months at the Alexandra Rose and we felt the need to tell you about the experience to recognise your standard of care, humanity and professionalism.
It’s been frustrating to know that due to current COVID regulations, only one family member could visit her once a week. But you
have been fantastic!
As her condition steadily worsened - she was in need of 24-hour care. We have been kept informed every day with updates of; her general state, doctors’ visits and how you are looking after her. You've provided sensory stimulations of essential oil hand massages, soft music, colour lighting, etc.
I think you all became very fond of Mum – and she of you all.


It was definitely the best place for Mum to spend her last days and we would wholeheartedly recommend you.

I visit my friend at Alexandra Rose every week, and I am always greeted with such friendly faces at the door. Before I even get to my friends room, I am given a nice cup of tea and made to feel welcome by all the lovely staff. My friend wasn't coping at home for a very long time, and since being at
the care home, her whole wellbeing and mood has improved - she has put on some much-needed weight (the food looks lovely), and she has even started knitting again; thanks to the activity staff encouraging her too. I cannot fault this home, the residents all seem so happy there, and it is so lovely to see such wonderful staff. Thank you for looking after my friend.

I have been heavily involved with my aunt's care prior to her admission, and we searched high and low for the right home. The moment we stepped into Alexandra Rose, we knew this was the place for her!
The home is spotless with no 'typical care home smells'. There's such a great feel to the home and
its staff. The carers all seem kind, and that they actually want to be there and show a real interest in my aunt and all the other residents. There are always activities going on, my aunt is even supported to go out once a week - she tells me she has been 'all over the place' with the activity staff, which is just so amazing to hear she has this new lease of life! Cannot fault this place.

The home is very well run, cannot fault staff and management. The manager is first class at his job nothing is too much trouble and the assistant manager is amazing. They all work well as a team. Sadly, my dad died three months after moving into Alexandra Rose. However, he was lovingly cared for by all of the staff.
Despite Dad wanting to stay in his room, he was never forgotten and staff would make the extra effort to visit him and spend time with him.
No one could have done any more than
they did for him.

My mother in law has spent 8 weeks respite care in Alexandra Rose. She lost her husband back in November and with her dementia was not in a good place. My wife and family would like to thank all staff in the home for their patience and professionalism in dealing with her. She has had the odd blip but
we are all agreed that she has calmed and has regained big parts of her humour which is down to the care given to her. We will miss visiting the home and wish everyone the very best for the future.

Mum has been enabled to settle in well and seems to have good relationships with all the staff. She has never complained about any of them. Her room is of a good size, very pleasant and clean. She is getting good care in regard to bathing, hair, nails etc and enjoys the entertainment. The only downsides:
being on a hill, necessitates the use of a stairlift to get too and from her room; the evening meals are a bit uninspiring.

Overall mum is quite happy here. The cleanliness is very good throughout the home. Entertainment has been excellent but now the lady has left so I don't know what's in place.
I feel management need to engage with residents more as they seem to be a bit light on carers. A management presence on the
'floor' would be helpful to all concerned.

That now means Alexandra Rose provide over 80 hours per week solely for our activities staff which covers 7 days a week and I am sure you will agree that is fantastic!
