My husband (who is here with me) and myself has been made very welcome. We have various medical problems, which have been well cared for. We feel settled and happy.

My father was a resident in his last few months and was treated with respect and dignity. A fantastic care setting that employs staff who really do go the extra mile to ensure the comfort and well being of their residents.

My oldest and dearest friend has been a resident at St Vincent House since the start of 2020. I cannot imagine a better environment for him, and I cannot imagine a more genuine, kinder or more understanding staff. Their incredible hard work was evident from day one, but their dedication throughout the long ordeal of Covid has been nothing short of remarkable. They have always been prompt to respond to phone calls and emails, and on visits, they always make time to talk face to face. As my old chum gradually and inevitably embraces his next phase of dreaming and peace, it's wonderful to know that he is happy and treated so well. And did I mention the food? It's brilliant. Thank you.

Very caring and conscientious staff, not to mention hard working. Mum is happy, and I have no worries about her at all. The staff are always friendly and accommodating when we visit, and we are looking forward to things getting back to normal and spending more time at St Vincent's.

Overall Experience

As a family, we were apprehensive about choosing a home that would care for my mother as we would like, that she deserved, and that would meet her needs. Our concerns were soon dispelled. Mum always looked clean and enjoyed her food. She enjoyed having her hair done regularly, and the photos in the newsletter proved that she enjoyed joining in the activities provided. We were always made to feel welcome on visits, and phone calls daily never seemed too much trouble. We were supported by all the staff during Mum's last days, and she was treated with care and respect, and for that, I will be forever grateful. I would highly recommend St Vincent. Thank you to the manager and all your staff.

My mother was only a resident for six months before she died, but she was always treated with kindness and care. She enjoyed the food and joining in with the entertainment. Her last few days were made as comfortable as possible with her family around her. She was treated with respect and dignity, and all the staff were very caring to her and us. I couldn't be more pleased with the care Mum received.

St Vincent's is more like a home than a 'home'. It has a very happy atmosphere and staff always smile greeting as you enter. They were jolly with my husband and he liked that, as well as caring. The food is excellent and it is a very pleasant place to be. I would thoroughly recommend it.

My aunt stayed after coming out of hospital. The consideration and care were always excellent and very caring.

She, unfortunately, died in December 2019, however, everything was handled efficiently and solicitously. Thank you, St Vincent House, for the care in her last days. Very impressed.

With over 20 years of experience in adult health and social care, I have built a strong and rewarding career dedicated to supporting others. I hold an NVQ Level 3 in Adult Care and an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Adult Care, reflecting my commitment to continuous professional development and high-quality care.

During my career, I took time away from working in care homes to focus on raising my four children, while continuing to contribute to adult social care within a safeguarding team. This experience further strengthened my passion for protecting and enhancing the well-being of vulnerable individuals.

I am delighted to be part of the St Vincent family, where I am committed to supporting people in their daily lives through person-centred care and meaningful, enriching activities. I feel incredibly privileged to do the work I love and to make a positive difference every day.

At St Vincent House, I pride myself on being approachable—my door is always open for a coffee and a chat. I look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and support residents, their families, and the dedicated staff team. It’s an exciting time to be part of such a supportive and caring environment, and I am eager to contribute to the next chapter of this wonderful home.

Neil Le Clercq
Neil Le ClercqJob Title:AdministratorJoined: 2007

Neil has worked at St Vincent House for 16 years and looks forward to many more.

Neil is 61 years old and uses his life experiences to reminisce with people and be an excellent companion for those who live at St Vincent House, often supporting people to maintain contact with overseas and long-distance family members and friends and going out for walks and for coffee's on a 1:1 basis to ensure people feel valued.

He is Portsmouth Football Club Fanatic and always happy to chat football with those who will listen.

Neil's main responsibilities are admin based but he always states that the most rewarding part of his job is interacting with the residents and trying to make their days better in whatever way he can.

Neil has what has often been termed a Dad sense of humour and he doesn't mind that sometimes (more often than not) he is the only one laughing at his own jokes.

The three things Neil would like people to associate him with are kindness, happiness and sarcasm - the sarcasm just comes naturally and most people especially enjoy this part of his personality.

I have worked in the care sector for 30 years, 22 of these years at St Vincent House Southsea.
I joined as part of the care team, going on to complete NVQ level 2 and 3.
This enabled me to become a more senior member of staff and support the Deputy and the Manger in the day to day running of the home, a job I very much enjoyed.
I had always shown a keen interest and taken part in the activities in the home and loved how it made a difference to the resident’s day.
When the position for activities coordinator became available some 14 years ago, I knew this was for me, I was supported by the company to make this transaction and have never looked back.
I can honestly say I love my job.
Making a difference to my resident’s day, booking, planning activities and events that will make them happy, getting to know them and having time to listen and chat with them is what it’s all about.
When I am not working, I enjoy time with my husband, we have travelled a lot and enjoy our holidays.

We spend a lot of time with our daughter, granddaughter and our family dog, we all love going for long walks in the countryside together.
