Buttercup House has been transformed into a 20 single bed (17 en-suites) dementia friendly home. Each room has been uniquely designed to make them stylish and comfortable.
A newly constructed lounge opens out onto the landscaped and dementia friendly garden. In addition to a newly fitted kitchen and dining room the home now houses a beauty salon/well-being room.
All bedrooms have been modernised and refurbished. They are dementia friendly to help maintain resident’s independence, dignity, respect and choice. They are decorated to a very high standard and kept to a high standard of cleanliness. All rooms are fitted with a nurse call system, en-suite (toilet and hand basin) or hand basin, TV point, lockable cabinet, dementia friendly cupboard, comfortable chair and a standard bed. All residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their home comforts.
Activities are provided throughout the day on an individual basis by experienced staff to enable those with dementia to live well. External companies visit the home to provide group activities such as Bingo, Music and dance. Events and themed days are also organised throughout the year at Buttercup House. Events include a special performance from the pantomime theatre company, supporting The Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day, Dignity Day and many more.

The staff are very helpful and caring. They really do know what the residents and what the residents need. The accommodation is good, it's always clean and tidy. The staff are always aware of dietary needs and so as a resident you are always given the right kind of food for you. The staff are usually aware if a resident is unwell or upset. They establish good relationships. We have a programme of activities, for example, cheese tasting and making bird houses.

Because of Covid restrictions being in place since before the resident came to Buttercup House, I have not been inside the home, only the gardens and the wood chalet in the garden. Because of Covid restrictions being in place since before the resident came to Buttercup House, I have not been inside the home, only the gardens and the wood chalet in the garden. Therefore, my responses are only based on what I have seen through the windows or those related by the carer. I have had limited telephone and face-to-face contact with some staff members during the time of my visits, but I have not seen how staff interact with residents or provide care. The resident has told me she struggles to hear/understand what some of the staff say due to their accents. Activities currently rated as poor but this is due to covid restrictions.

We are grateful to you for assisting us in providing a review. Be it at a very restricted level. We contacted this lady, to better understand the review scores.We discussed the substantial activities our home had continued to provide (she was admittedly unaware of these). We will seek permission if she would like to join our relatives closed facebook page to keep her informed. We continued activities throughout the pandemic, thanks to our very experienced activities coordinator. We arrange person-centred activities reliant upon the needs of each resident. We continued to provide external musical events as well. The musicals were set up outside the garden patio giving clear sight and hearing to all our residents, indoors. She, was pleased in hearing this news. Will see her soon next visit.
A warm and friendly home that genuinely cares and loves its residents as well as providing huge support to the families trying to cope and adjust. I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation; I regard the staff there as family friends now.

Sadly Dad only spent a short time in Buttercup House before losing his battle against Alzheimer's and Dementia. Sadly Dad only spent a short time in Buttercup House before losing his battle against Alzheimer's and Dementia. However, the kindness and compassion shown towards Dad and the rest of the family during the final days of his life will always be remembered as perfect. The support that was given during this period and the days after, made the whole traumatic experience so much easier to handle. We will always be grateful to the staff and management for the way they handled everything. We are sure if Dad had been with us longer, he would have enjoyed his life in Buttercup House.

My mum was a resident at Buttercups from Dec 2019 till her passing in January 2021, She was extremely well cared for and loved the whole time she was there. The owners and all staff went over and above with their care for her. She was extremely happy there. I couldn't have asked for more.

The care my Brother-in-law received was of the highest order, everything was done in a professional and efficient manner but the staff went far beyond this standard they created a place where he felt totally at home and peaceful. The staff laughed and in the end cried with him, they could not do enough to make his stay with them a happy time. He was not the easiest person to deal with but all the staff managed to make him feel comfortable and safe. I saw a new person come to life under their care They can be very proud of the work they do its not just a job but a true vocation. Well done this home is a jewel.

Buttercup House Care Home - the staff are great, they are caring, supportive, friendly, helpful and will assist in any way. My Dad has been a resident at Buttercup House for nearly a year, the care, respect, given to him by the staff, management team and owners has been fantastic. As a family member, we are invited and included in all the home's celebrations, whether it be, Xmas Party, Bar-B-Q, Fete or just our dinner/tea there. You are always welcomed. Feels like a family home, not an institution. Carers are responsive to the needs of all residents and family members. I have full confidence in the care and support my father receives at all times. He enjoys the light, bright well decorated and furnished lounge.

CB has gone above and beyond for many years and is very dedicated to ensuring residents and staff are supported with their well-being. CB thoroughly enjoys organising activities within the home. Although CB has had a tough couple of months with their health but continued to ensure residents have activity and well-being days to look forward to. CB listens and appreciates person-centred care and provides one-to-one activities and group activities.
Armchair travelling has become one of the resident’s favourite activities-Africa was the highlight of our destinations with staff who were African natives who came to work with traditional African clothing. Residents made a stunning 3D African female silhouette with African fabric, jewellery and African hair. African staff performed a traditional African dance. It was an opportunity for all residents and staff to celebrate each other’s cultures and embrace diversity and inclusivity.
