My wife finds everything very good. The staff will go to any lengths to make her content and safe. Any food choice is found when her appetite is not good. Her room is rightly dressed - even a bird feeder is stuck to the outside of her window so she can watch them feed. I am always welcomed cheerily and offered lunch every day but settle for a cup of tea.
Thank you for your lovely words and feedback. We appreciate feedback for the home and continue to strive to ensure out residents needs are met.
We cannot express enough how grateful we are for the care my mother received at Dapplemere. The staff were so well trained in dementia care, not just professionally but showing genuine compassion. They understood my mother's needs and went above + beyond to ensure her comfort. She had a lovely room overlooking their beautiful gardens and everything was always clean and tidy. The activities were run so well, tailored to her declining abilities, keeping her engaged. We even saw her smile. The plistos meant so much. Communication from the staff were excellent. I cannot recommend Dapplemere highly enough. Thank you to the management and entire team for their dedication.
My mother-in-law is being looked after extremely well. Thank you all at Dapplemere.
Thank you very much for your feedback , we really appreciate you taking time out. Trisha
My mum is well looked after, the staff are very friendly nothing is too much trouble. Very helpful, my mum is well cared for.
Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback and continued support.
However, this is my final review. Mum passed peacefully away at Dapplemere in mid-August at the age of 91.
So, I must add that since her passing the support from everyone there has been exemplary.
I was given all the time I needed to say a private goodbye to Mum. On a subsequent visit, and with welcome assistance, I was able to collect personal things from her room and, again, with no time pressures.
Other reviews refer to the 'Dapplemere family'. As a regular visitor I've felt very much a part of that and I'll miss seeing those people with whom I've shared time during my visits.
Finally, I'd like to take the opportunity, on behalf of Mum's family and friends, to express our thanks for the care and love given by the staff over the last four and a half years.
Hi Malcolm, you will always be welcome at Dapplemere, pop in any time. Mum was a joy to look after and she will be missed by us all.
My husband and I have found Dapplemere to be a friendly, caring place for his mother, who has been there since October 2020, and is happy there.
Thank you J for the review, your feedback is most welcome.Thank you again
We love Activities Coordinator, she is so kind to the residents, she is calming when needs be and up beat when the residents are partaking in activities. The whole atmosphere is completely different and positive when she is working! Just a shame she can't be there every day. What a difference she has made to all the residents.
Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated. I will pass on your comments to our activity coordinator. We strive to improve our service and I will take on board your comments.
Dapplemere is not smart but it provided the most wonderful care for my mother in her final months. With its modest size (22 beds) and many very special members of staff, it has a truly 'family' feeling. Excellent nursing care, supported by good local GP practice, is enhanced by amazing, dedicated carers and completed by home-cooked and friendly, personal ancillary cleaning and laundry service. A great team and huge support to our family.
Thank you for your lovely comments. I will pass this onto the team.
My mum needed to move from a residential setting for more 1:1 nursing. The staff were very kind and caring from the day of her transfer. Although Mum passed away only a few weeks later as was very frail, the staff were amazing and we were very happy with the care she received. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words and support during this difficult time for your family.
Dapplemere has now become a home away from home for my husband and myself. My husband is well cared for by caring and compassionate staff. As his wife, I also feel well-supported by the staff and the Home Manager. We really feel like we are part of the Dapplemere family. My favourite quote from Dapplemere by the Home Manager is "this is your home and you can go to bed whenever you like and eat when you like". Now that is really like home.
I am visiting from Western Australia and have either worked and visited many care homes over the years (including my mother) and I have never been so impressed as I have observed the care and support of my long-term friend (and other residents) whilst sitting in the communal lounge area. It is truly a home-like environment with individual needs and preferences catered for, including meals or socialising. I must say I thought how much a similar facility would be appreciated at home for both my family, or indeed myself when I am in need of such care. Thank you for such lovely care of my dear friend.
Dear Jill, Thank you so much for your kind words and awesome review. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We work hard to meet all individual needs. We'd love to continue providing great service at Dapplemere nursing home.
My mother has been a resident for nearly 7 years. She has dementia and is in a wheelchair. She has been looked after extremely well and seems happy. She is always very well-dressed and groomed. The home seems to do well in retaining staff who are friendly and caring although, like many care homes, there is a shortage of staff it seems to me sometimes. While it is not the smartest of buildings, it is very homely and has a beautiful garden.
Thank you.
My dad went into Dapplemere after a long stay in hospital. As I live abroad, I didn't see him for a few weeks, but when I did, I couldn't believe the change in him. He was so much happier, far less confused and enjoying eating again. It was like getting my dad back. Everyone was very kind to him and I was touched that someone made his memory box for him and it was perfect. He always looked clean, neat and comfortable. He died peacefully in his sleep and it meant a lot to me that they had been checking on him during the night and notified the family within an hour of him passing away. They didn't hurry us to clear his room. At all times I felt he was cared for and treated with respect and I'm grateful his last weeks were comfortable and peaceful.
Thank you for you review. Your father was a pleasure to look after and we all have fond memories. Our thoughts are with you.
Lovely nursing home. My husband has the best care. Food is excellent. All people are treated with care and compassion, could not ask for more. Staff are the best, nothing is too much trouble.
Thank you for your kind words and review. Your husband is a pleasure to care for and always lovely to see the family. Thank you, Manager.
A tranquil home where our father is well cared for by staff sympathetic to his dementia needs. Food preferences are well catered for. Excellent key worker.
Thank you.
Visiting Brother-in-law (resident) from Australia. Reassuring to know the resident is cared for with respect, kindness and love. All the resident's needs are met. If you can't be in your own home, you are the next best thing.
Thank you again.
My experience at Dapplemere was the staff were so very friendly, kind and considerate and the care home itself was clean, tidy, bright and very welcoming. It's somewhere I am very proud that my father has come to for care and I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs care.
Thank you.
We came to visit Dapplemere on Monday 12th June with regards to my dad coming to stay as a resident. We were met by the manageress whose is very lovely and treated us with the utmost respect. We are very impressed with this care home and the kind and very knowledgeable staff. The residents all seem very happy. The rooms were lovely, nice and spacious with big windows looking out over the very pretty garden. We met the chef, who has been there for over 25 years and her menu sounded amazing. We’d have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
All the staff were very kind and patient with my husband. Bedrooms were adequate, bedding was changed regularly. Overall, the care home was clean and reasonably well furnished although it could do with a refurbishment. Having said that it is well worn and has a homely feel suiting most of the occupants. Not having tried the food, I think it was ok.
Thank you for your feedback, very much appreciated. I will pass this on to the team.
Although Dapplemere is out of the way, small and quirky. It needs some tender loving care regarding decoration. Clean and tidy. Most of the cares have excellent skills in looking after residents. However, it is really necessary to put your caring skills onto residents and take their needs into consideration, their way and not yours. Management needs to improve their listening skills and not poo-hoo what the residents are saying. Unfortunately, you cannot run a care home on a shoestring budget.
We are in the process of redecoration schedule to improve the home.
I am more than happy to discuss any concerns that you may have.
