My mother has been a resident at Nightingale House since August 2024 and has now become a permanent resident. We have been extremely happy with the staff and the care my mother has received. The staff are exceptional and my mother has engaged very well with everyone. During visits we have been very
pleased to see that my mother has settled in very well and is very happy within herself. The communication from management and the team is brilliant, they keep us informed and up to date with anything relating to my mother's care.
I am extremely grateful and satisfied with the care my mother receives. It's very reassuring to know my mother is happy and safe.
Thank you!

My mother has been in Nightingale House about a year now as she suffers from dementia. From the start we have noticed that all the staff, without exception, are extremely caring and proficient. This has given me great comfort knowing that my mother is taken care of and is treated with dignity. It was
initially a trial for 8 weeks and it was not what we had initially selected. However, we are so happy that events have turned out as they have and that she is a permanent placement at Nightingale House. Thank you once again to the whole Nightingale House team!

from Malcolm T (Son of Resident) published on 24 June 2025

Mum continues to receive excellent care and the following updates my previous review (Nov. 2022).
Earlier this year Mum underwent a DOLS assessment. In later discussion with the assessor, who's been performing the role for many years, it was good to hear he too believes Mum is receiving a high standard
of care.
I usually visit on weekends but when I've been on a weekday there is always some activity for residents ongoing in the main lounge.
On my last visit the lounge was undergoing improvement work and I know how hard the Manager has been trying to make that happen. It's not the only area as a few months ago Mum had the opportunity to be moved downstairs to a garden room. She is now quite frail and spends her time in her room, so it has brought the garden to her and we now enjoy watching local wildlife. A small feeder on a windows sees many recently fledged birds stopping by for food.
I'm very grateful to all of the staff for making Mum's life as comfortable as possible.

The staff are very committed and do their very best to care for my brother with respect and sensitivity. This is not an easy job and your dedication is appreciated. The new manager is a great asset. Mum lived with me in a busy household for over 7 years. After breaking her hip and a month in hospital her dementia escalated. It was with a heavy heart that I realised it was not the best choice to keep her at home. She was no longer able to manage stairs, was sleeping most of the day and unable to
be left alone. Having visited 3 other care homes I entered Nightingale House and knew within 10 minutes that it was the right place for mum. The staff are all so lovely and care so much about each and every resident. Mum is thriving and doing so much more than she was at home. The food is very good and she's starting to put on a much needed bit of weight. She hasn't once asked to 'come home'. She is very content and settled. I have no concerns about her living with her lovely new family, she's in the best care home and we were so lucky that they were able to accommodate her. Our family is a close one and we all visit regularly and we feel very welcome by everyone. Thank you.

My grandmother became a resident of Nightingale House in January 2025 after living with my mum for eight years. We were so worried she would be sad to leave home, but we could not have been happier with how she has settled in at Nightingale House. The staff are exceptional, so kind, friendly and have
us feeling so confident that Grandma is in the best place. She literally looks like a new woman. After spending days alone at home while everyone is at work, she is now surrounded by the most attentive staff, all day, every day. Thank you so much.

Meera House

from A L (Niece of Resident) published on 22 January 2025

My aunt has been in the nursing home for several years. Although some selected staff are carrying out great care, others are very questionable. There has been multiple issues with quality of care actually been given in the home. My aunt has had her belongings taken almost every day, staff have always
blamed laundry service. Everything we have taken for my aunt to keep in her room has gone missing, even down to her undergarments.
I have made several complaints but all that gets said is 'we will check with laundry'.
We have labelled the clothing with permanent ink, clothing labels and markers. Yet all her clothes have gone missing.
We go to visit her and she is always in someone else's clothes and shoes. Staff are told and their attitude is 'I don't know check with manager', ask manager and she always replies with 'it's a problem with laundry'. Ongoing issue for three years and no solution has been found. It's very sad to see her identity being lost whilst she has been there.

Dapplemere is not smart but it provided the most wonderful care for my mother in her final months. With its modest size (22 beds) and many very special members of staff, it has a truly 'family' feeling. Excellent nursing care, supported by good local GP practice, is enhanced by amazing, dedicated carers
and completed by home-cooked and friendly, personal ancillary cleaning and laundry service. A great team and huge support to our family.

My dad stayed at Nightingale House for three months and I cannot recommend them enough. All the staff are so caring and friendly. It was so amazing to see Dad, who suffered with dementia, interact with the staff and smile so much when he saw them. They were very tentative about his needs and made sure
he had everything he needed. They also made me feel very welcome when I went to visit. He had a lovely day when they did a bank holiday BBQ and put on an amazing spread of food, with a singer and everyone was dancing.
If anyone is looking for a care home for a loved one I would highly recommend Nightingale House. I couldn't fault them at all.
