Old Charlton House

Old Charlton has a nice welcome feel to it, and I wouldn't want Mum to be anywhere else.

Always a pleasant place to visit. Staff are always aware of my mother's needs, likes and dislikes etc. Mum is generally happy there. She likes to go for a wander now and then, and it's no problem. Staff are always amenable and helpful when asked about things. All in all, it's a very nice care home.

Always smells clean and fresh. Easy to park, take my dog to visit, a cup of tea and cake at times, beautiful garden in the summer and a lovely area to sit.

Overall, I'm very happy with the care that my dad receives.

We are grateful to the staff who care for my father-in-law on a day-to-day basis and provide for all his dementia needs, physical needs and foibles. We feel we are very blessed to have been offered the place for him and hope that his place will become a permanent one.

From the initial contact with Old Charlton House till now, we know we made the right choice of care for our dad. The fact that he settled so well and continues to thrive is a testament to the care they provide in ensuring his needs are met. Staff are welcoming, caring, and kind both to Dad and us, his family. They demonstrate compassion and patience in challenging times. The management is friendly and professional in their approach, keeping us informed of all aspects of his care. grandmother always loves the food and I have always been impressed at how flexible the kitchen are to meet the needs of our family as well as my grandmother. The way everyone from management to carer has dealt with the COVID situation has been absolutely outstanding with regular updates and great care taken for all involved. As a result, the family have recommended Old Charlton on many occasions.

The treatment Mum received at Old Charlton House was beyond exceptional. We live in America and could only visit Mum a few times a year. I’m not sure what we would have done without Charlton House. They took care of her with compassion that always went above and beyond. She was there for five years, and in the last three years, she was bed bound. Each and every staff member was wonderful, tending to all of her needs, both emotional and physical with unflagging love and care. They sang to her and with her, shared tears with us, and celebrated her birthday with cake and candles when we could not be there. There is no way to describe how thankful we are to the entire staff for giving us such peace of mind knowing that she was being taken care of with such heartfelt compassion. They became like family to us. Since we could not be there at the end, they made sure she was not alone and held her hand to the end. We are and will be forever grateful for the love and support they showed.

This care home is exceptionally well run. It is spotless. The food is excellent. Facilities lovely and the carers, caterers, and cleaners are all compassionate, friendly, hardworking and professional. I am always kept informed of any concerns and consulted on decisions. The management is outstanding, with an accessible and professional approach. Excellence in people management, communication, leadership, and teamwork is widely evident in this home.

I am contact for my friend who has been a resident in Old Charlton House for 2 years. I make regular visits and have never had cause to doubt the quality of care he receives, especially as his Dementia has increased. The staff are well trained, caring and friendly. Food is very good and all areas very clean. A lovely place for the elderly.

When we could no longer look after Dad at home, it is a relief to know that he is safe and being well cared for at Old Charlton House.

It's never nice to have to put your parents into care, but Old Charlton House really puts my mind at ease with the care they give my father. The staff are very patient with him as he can be a bit difficult at times. The staff are all very friendly and always at hand and helpful to discuss any issues that arise.

Very welcoming staff whenever we attend, regular meals and high standard (mum's weight now being monitored) and I am always aware of maintenance issues being addressed promptly (unlike previous care home) with the well-meaning owner. Mum would like to go home, however, while at this home, my sisters and I are very pleased with mum's care and we don't have to worry about the care she is receiving. Thank you very much.

Old Charlton House is primarily a residential home, however, at a time when my mum has become incapacitated by Alzheimer's disease they have beyond a residential home. They truly care for my mym and will not be asking me to mover her. I am truly grateful for the amazing care they give her.

Without a doubt, this is due to the excellent physical care she has received from the wonderful staff team. Care is delivered with extraordinary kindness and cheerfulness. As a result of the high standard of care, the family now have peace of mind for which I thank the team.

I don’t know the full criteria for these and how they are established but from both mine and my late father’s perspective, I believe the home is OUTSTANDING and would fully recommend it to take care of their loved ones.

My father has been a resident of Old Charlton House, for over 3 years. During this time his dementia has worsened considerably and he has developed several medical problems, The care and attention he has received from the staff has been wonderful. The carers are kind, gentle and respectful and the management team has been superb in advising and helping us through difficult times, My husband and I would not hesitate to recommend Old Charlton House to anyone.
