Blair Park Care Home is located in Sittingbourne and was formerly used as a doctor's surgery before it was sympathetically converted into a care home for older people.

The home provides residential, dementia and respite care for up to 43 residents and are able to accommodate funded as well as private clients.

Blair Park Care Home has an extensive variation of accommodation from a standard bedroom to a large en-suite bedroom, as well as large double rooms for married couples.

The home benefits from a lovely, bright conservatory which overlooks the back gardens and a spacious dining room where meals are an important social aspect.

Professional bodies across a variety of areas visit the home, including the district nurse and chiropodist. A hairdresser also makes use of the well-equipped salon to meet individual needs on a regular basis.

Since my mother went into Blair Park all the family have been impressed with the care she has received. We are particularly impressed with the level of care given by all the staff. We are impressed with the staff involving the residents in many activities. Our queries and questions are always attended
to and acted on where needed. The family feel totally confident that Blair Park will look after mother to a high standard which is such a comfort to us all. Mother likes her room, the food, activities and above all, the staff.
We have recommended Blair Park to others and will continue to do so.
Reply from Cem Osman, PA to HV at Blair Park Care HomeRooms: Bedrooms are predominantly single, some en-suite. We have a only a few shared to accommodate married couples, sisters or indeed those that choose to have company. Clients are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their families support. All rooms have nice furniture and bright curtains, tv's if they choose as well.

Facilities: We have a lovely open plan ground floor socialising area which consists of 2 large lounges both with televisions and music facilities. Very bright and spacious. There is a large open plan dining room between these 2 lounges and the communal areas gives a spacious feel through out allowing our clients to walk around independently. Plenty of toilet and wet room facilities. We have a large enclosed back garden and a smaller courtyard garden off one of our lounges. This is a popular area for having afternoon teas and ice creams and often activities outside in the fresh air for those that choose to participate. We have 2 activities coordinators that undertake activities of various options.

Cleanliness: We have a full crew of house keeping team on every day. They undertake cleaning every day and have weekly and monthly deep cleans to all areas. the home audits regularly as well to ensure all clean and to the standard we expect from our staff for a nice clean environment.

Value for money: The clients are asked in residents circle meetings and on one to ones about their thoughts with regards to meals, living environment, activities.

Before Mum needed more care than I could give, I had a bad image of care homes in my head. Then I learnt what a good care home is like. Blair Park gave mum the care and attention all of us need. She was happy there and for that, I am so grateful. The staff treat the residents with respect. The atmosphere
is one of happiness and comfort. The staff are cheerful and ensure that everyone is cared for properly. I could not have found a better place for Mum to end her days.

The staff at this care home are always welcoming and approachable. They always have time for the residents and chat to them by name. The residents here enjoy the activities that are set out for them and there is generally plenty going on but obviously, there is down time too.

Whenever I have visited staff have been very welcoming. My aunt is clean and tidy sitting in her favourite place if this is what she wants. Drinks food and snacks are given regularly and offered to residents. This includes fruit and sweets as a treat between meals. They provide activities weekly. Also,
a hairdresser and chiropodist visit regularly. They also have visiting singers- musicians- acts over the year. There is a garden area and patio area used in good weather and also used for activities.

After researching other local facilities with both my parents they decided to apply to Blair Park. Since arriving they have both been cared for extremely well. They have a lovely double room which is always very clean and warm. All the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I feel my
parents have been very lucky to have a place at Blair Park as it's now become a place they call home.

Staff are very good. Residents are kept active where possible with regular things on to keep them entertained using music and singing, professional entertainers used regularly. Ladies have their hair and nails done and males are kept smart with hair and nails kept neat - a very important thing to me.
Relatives are encouraged to visit and get involved with everything. A very happy home.

My mother has been at Blair Park for seven months. I have been very impressed with the care mum receives. The staff (all) are very kind and caring including the managers. The residents are treated with dignity and respect, all look very clean in their appearance. The food and choice looks appetising
and they get extras of bananas, choc bars in the afternoons. There is regular entertainment, nails painted, bingo etc. The home is always warm, clean, also toilets. My mother commented that staff were very kind, They also pay good attention to their needs. We feel confident we have chosen the right care home which gives us peace of mind and would recommend it to friends and neighbours.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.710)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.710) out of 10 for Blair Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.910 for Blair Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (131 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 144 Ratings = 4.91
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Blair Park Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
