The Grove has been Mum's (aged 96) home since April 2019, having lived alone for 16 years. Mum had coped well until she had falls which resulted in 6 weeks in hospital after which it became obvious that she needed more care than we could give. We knew the manager and she had said if we needed any information
she would be happy to help. Mum had 2 weeks' respite care whilst we assessed the situation. How fortunate we were, it was clear from the start that Mum felt 'at home' and was keen to remain there beyond the 2 weeks. It has been perfect. The Management and staff have been wonderful, both to Mum and to family and friends. Mum has always been a sociable person and enjoys the company of the other residents and staff. The activities are well organised and varied. The manager and the staff have, and continue to successfully steer the home through the pandemic. It has been of great comfort to know that Mum has been in safe hands. The whole team genuinely care about the loved ones entrusted to them.

My mum has been a resident at The Grove Residential Home for 3 years and is extremely happy and looked after very well in all aspects of her care during this time.
Quality of care is outstanding, each member of staff are friendly and make time for each resident and family alike, and no problem is too
small. Pre-covid 19 the home offered a variety of entertainment and activities for all to enjoy if they choose to be involved. During Covid their strict infectious control, testing and precautions have meant all residence at the home have stayed Covid free throughout the pandemic which is a credit to how well the home is run.
My mum's health has deteriorated during the 3 years however her level of care has been adapted to suit her needs, and regular reviews are held with my mum and myself to go through any queries, care and questions.
The home provides excellent home-cooked food, colourful maintained gardens in a homely environment and would not hesitate to recommend this residential home.

The people who run this home are brilliant they care for every individual, nothing is too much. Everything is catered for nothing too much trouble. My mother in law has been in there several years now and is very happy there and her health has improved since she entered the home. All through Covid it’s
been as safe as houses. They went into lockdown as soon as the news hit in early March and visiting through perspex has been very easy and stress-free. They have done everything they could to keep the virus out and to keep the residents safe and motivated.

My 100-year-old mother-in-law fell during the lockdown, in her own home. She was taken into hospital and then sent to a care home for an assessment. When her time came to move on, we were recommended The Grove by a friend whose own mother had been a resident and he was extremely complimentary. We viewed
the home, were impressed and my mother-in-law said she would like to live there - close to us, so we could visit easily and very aware she couldn't go back to her own home. She arrived on the 1st September 2020 and since then, has been treated with great care and respect. It hasn't been easy during the Covid Pandemic for anyone, but The Grove, its Manager and staff have kept her safe and well and we couldn't imagine a better place for her to be. They also treat us, as a family, very well. We thoroughly recommend this home.

It is hard to put into words how professional, loving and simply wonderful the Manager and all her team are in caring for my Mum. I looked at several care homes before choosing The Grove. I chose The Grove for its homely and particularly good atmosphere shared between the staff and residents. The manager
is passionate about her job with a good knowledge of residents’ needs and is always looking at ways to improve things. Mum is looked after impeccably, by all members of staff. Always clean, dressed and never once left in her room. From day one, Mum was engaged in the activities which are available for all residents, no matter how immobile. Mum enjoys her food which is always freshly cooked. I have never felt bad about leaving Mum as the staff work hard and go the extra mile to make her feel comfortable. Throughout the Covid pandemic, the staff worked tirelessly and were able to keep all residents and their colleagues safe. True superstars - all of them.

My mum has been at the Grove since Jan 20. The manager is outstanding and has ensured Mum is settled and has everything she needs. If ever there are things we need or questions to ask, I will email and it is sorted within a day. The really great thing is that they seem to have very little turnover of
staff, something which I know my mum and myself really like as we know all the faces and names. My mum says it feels like the closest thing to home that it could have been, if she couldn't manage in her own home anymore. She enjoys her visits from the manager and always talks about them. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone who has to make the difficult decision about leaving their own home - a decision that is very difficult for everyone.

Father has been in The Grove for over four years and without exception, the care and attention he has received has been exemplary. The home is well managed and this efficiency is reflected at all staffing levels. The Grove has been proactive in managing Dad's care, suggesting and making changes, as
appropriate. On a day-to-day basis, he is well looked after with his flexible needs fully catered for and respected. The staff are friendly, well trained and attentive. The food is of a high standard and there are many additional activities provided throughout each week. The Grove rose to the challenges set by Covid and we had full confidence in the measures it put in place. Regular video calls were offered at an early stage giving us a much-needed link. They work closely with the local surgery which means immediate health needs are looked after quickly. In addition, this meant that all residents got vaccinated as soon as possible. I have no hesitation in fully recommending The Grove.

My mother has been at The Grove for just 16-days.
This is such a well run home, without exception, all the staff are lovely, cheerful and always willing to help. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone. There is so much attention to detail, and the food is imaginative and very tasty.
Because of the
attention to detail, her room felt like home within a week as personal effects-filled it exactly to her liking.
She feels safe and very happy and has only been here a couple of weeks. She never thought this was possible.
My mother has not made any negative comments since her arrival, which means I have peace of mind too!
Win-win!

I really cannot fault this home. All the staff, without exception are friendly and cannot do enough for residents and visitors. It has been a new lease of life for my mother-in-law. Good food, clean, comfortable rooms and a great welcome. Entertainment is arranged morning and afternoon on weekdays and
there are regular trips out all at no extra charge.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to the management and staff of The Grove in the care of my mother. They have supported myself and family members in some tough times, my mother experienced very low mood and trauma when her husband died and with the care, love and patience of the management and
staff she is now positive and very happy. Both her and myself and family cannot praise and thank them enough. It is a very happy and welcoming place to live, the staff are always approachable and nothing is too much bother for them. It is very clean, the food is excellent. I would have no problem recommending this care home to anybody. We are very lucky that my mother is a resident there.

Where to start?
We can not find any fault, whatsoever! Amenities, care, staff, entertainment, activity, healthcare, personal hygiene for residents, individuals rooms, communication are all exceptional. This residential home is a hotel for the elderly, a real home from home. Every resident is treated
with the utmost respect and dignity. The staff are always on hand to lend support, advice, guidance and indeed love when required.
In conclusion, I’ll say this; I’m a fussy person, I like things to be in place, correct, neat and tidy, well run and organised. When and indeed if the time comes for me to live in a residential home, there’s only one place I’m going to, The Grove.

My mother was at The Grove Residential Home for nearly four years until august 2016. In that time she was treated as an individual with dignity and respect. The care was excellent and the staff were always kind, considering her needs as well as mine. I can't imagine a better environment for mum to have
spent her final years and would highly recommend.

My sister lived at The Grove for just over 3 years and we have no hesitation in recommending this lovely care home as we were very impressed with the care that she received.

The home has excellent, friendly and patient staff who have a good relationship with their residents within a relaxed and caring

environment. They built up a very good rapport with my sister and were always attentive and caring.

The home is very inviting, very clean, warm, and very comfortable, well decorated and very well maintained. We were always made to feel welcome when visiting and were regularly invited to discuss her care plan.

Importantly for my sister the meals were of a very high standard with plenty of choice. She was very happy there and enjoyed the attention she received from all the staff.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.965) out of 10 for The Grove Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.965 for The Grove Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (300 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 310 Ratings = 4.965
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Grove Residential Home is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
