The Grove Residential Home in Maidstone offers long-term residential care as well as respite care.

The bedrooms are light and spacious and are over two floors with stairs and a lift giving access to the second floor.

All of the rooms are furnished but you can bring your own furniture so the room has a familiar feel. They also all have telephone, TV and internet points. There is a nurse-call system in all the rooms.

Dad moved into The Grove in April 2022 after mum suffered a stroke and could no longer look after him. He has always been active but can be stubborn and difficult to look after. He is now 91, but would rather use the stairs than submit to using the lift! We are so grateful The Grove was recommended
to us. The building is light, clean and well-maintained. Dad's room is bright and has a view of the gardens. The staff are friendly and helpful and keep me well informed about his health, the activities he joins in with and the trips out he takes. They ensure he showers and changes his clothes regularly. He says the food is excellent and his only complaint is that there is nothing to complain about! Dad is able to decide whether he wants to join in any of the daily activities or not; to stay in his room or to join other residents in the dining/common room to eat his meals or drink his regular mugs of tea. I feel welcome when I visit, especially if accompanied by one of our dogs!

I cannot recommend The Grove highly enough. My mother suddenly became very unwell in July and was hospitalised for over a month. She was unable to return to her home due to her health/mobility needs. After visiting a number of homes, we looked around The Grove and instantly knew it was the right place
for mum. Staff were warm, knowledgeable and passionate. The building is clean, spacious, beautifully furnished and the gardens are wonderful! Our (rather stubborn!) mum was initially reluctant to move into a home but accepted that we had no other option. I was worried about how she would settle into a new way of life after living on her own for so long. I needn’t have worried. From the moment she arrived, she has been made to feel welcome and valued. Our initial plan for a few weeks of respite care has changed - mum now feels so happy there that she wants to stay longer! Her words were “this place is good for me!” Mum is making amazing progress, both physically and emotionally.

My dad was placed at The Grove for his continuing health care assessment. He had spent many weeks in hospital and then at a cottage hospital. My dad was sadly in a poor physical state and an even worse psychological place. He and my mum had lived together and supported each other for over fifty years
and now they had become separated due to Mum sadly having dementia.
We cannot thank the staff at The Grove enough for the care and support they have given my dad. The staff are very caring and attentive. He is supported with all his needs. He has been encouraged to walk again, using a frame. Dad is encouraged to take part in the activities that are held each day with the other clients.
The Grove is a very sociable home, we have always been made to feel very welcomed, even our dog was greeted with smiles and attention.
It is wonderful to see my dad find his sense of humour again, to be relaxed and content once more. For myself, I see he is well looked after, even spoilt at times!

My mother has been happy at the Grove Residential Home and we have found the management takes formal steps to ensure that she and her family are completely content with her care and that all her needs are met. If at any time we have contacted the manager we have found her to be receptive. During Lockdown
we were able to see mum in a booth that was built to comply with the rules. On her birthday her great-grandchildren were able to sing to her as staff provided a room where she could sit behind the window whilst we, her family, sat on the patio outside that window. We consider we were so lucky to be able to maintain our contact during the pandemic without compromising the rules, unlike many other families in the UK. We have recommended the Grove to other families seeking care for their relatives without reservation and have no regrets about our choice. The ownership has changed whilst mum has been there but the caring ethos remains.

The Grove has been caring for Mum following a hospital visit in November 2022. The care she has received has been absolutely wonderful; she has now made friends with many of her fellow residents. They are kept entertained with games and sing-a-longs, and the food is excellent too. The staff, both carers
and management, are very easy to talk to and caring. I was initially concerned about how she would take to a residential care home, but I couldn’t be happier with where she is. I know Mum feels the same, and it’s a weight off our minds to know she is safe, being looked after and, of course, happy.

I cannot recommend The Grove Residential Home enough. The whole ethos, environment and care my grandmother received here was incredible. Every member of staff was approachable, kind, and caring and nothing was ever too much trouble. My grandmother's best interests were always The Groves' top priority.
We were always really well communicated with and for any changes or concerns we were immediately informed. My grandmother loved every member of staff and she felt she was part of their family. As a family, we will be forever grateful to the manager and all the staff for how much they did for our Grandma.

The Grove Residential Home is a fabulous care home - my mum loves being here and the level of care is exceptional. Making the decision to move any family member into residential care is always hard but Mum chose this location herself and is very happy. There are activities during the day that Mum enjoys
and also trips out. Back in October 2022, Mum caught Covid and it was touch and go, the love and care shown by the staff was lovely and they are now part of our family too. We 100% recommend The Grove!

If it wasn’t for the caring, wonderful management and staff at the Grove my mother-in-law wouldn’t be here today. She entered the Grove 6 years ago being in a very dark place, losing her beloved husband suddenly. Her mental health was extremely fragile, however, with the patience and caring loving nature
of everyone at the Grove she now lives life to the full with a smile on her face, a bouncy 91-year-old! She participates in all of the daily activities (there’s always plenty going on), trips out and socialising with other residents. The facilities are lovely, all rooms are cleaned on a daily basis as is the laundry. A hairdresser visits twice a week and my mother-in-law loves having her hair done. Her dietary needs are fully respected and adhered to (she’s diabetic) as are all of her religious and medication requirements. If she had any questions or issues, the management office door is always open. We can’t thank the Grove ‘family’ enough for what they do for her. Thank you.

My Mum lived at the Grove many years ago and she had outstanding care until her death in 2014.
8 years later I found myself needing care for my older cousin who was struggling. I’m pleased to say that The Grove came up trumps again in providing support.
Many of the same carers still worked there,
the standard of care was just as outstanding and the day activities were just what my cousin, who had been isolated for some time, needed.
She loves the food, her room is perfect for her and decorated to make it bright and airy.
The cleaning, laundry and facilities are at a high standard throughout the home and there is a beautiful, easy-to-access garden with hanging baskets and shady areas for residents and families to sit.
The GP surgery is very local and provides good support.
The Grove will ensure the hairdresser, chiropodist, optician etc visits regularly.
I honestly, could not be happier with the care and was not surprised to find them awarded a place in the Top 20 Care homes.

My father started as just 2 weeks respite care on 22nd December after several spells in hospital the last one took it out of him to say the least he looked frail and worn out barely able to walk BUT what a difference a day makes as the song goes.
I saw him less than 24 hours later and the improvement
was fantastic to the point that my father said could I stay an extra week and see how I feel about going back home toward the second week much to my surprise he said you know what boy (boy! I am 68) I think I would like to stay here I feel safe plus I know that you do not have to worry about me.
In the months that followed he went from strength to strength from walking frame to sticks. I know he is looked after which is priceless to be honest I don't worry about getting a phone call saying I need you boy help me.
All the staff are great I know it's their job BUT you can see that it's a passion that they have nothing but nothing is too much trouble Would I go there if I had to in a flash.

My mum moved into The Grove Residential Home, after losing my dad and a series of nasty falls. The care at this home is exemplary. The staff, both management and carers are all very accommodating and make family members feel very welcome. As a family, we couldn't ask for a better place for our mum
to live. Nothing is too much trouble and mum's needs are well catered for on all levels. I would highly recommend The Grove.

My mother has been a resident at The Grove in Maidstone for just over a year.
I cannot fault the care that is provided for her. The staff are extremely professional, efficient, helpful, and above all, kind. They are always readily available to assist with any queries or concerns that I may have.
They
show respect to family members as well as residents.
I am impressed with the various activities provided and assisted visits to garden centres and restaurants.
The variety of menus is outstanding, my mother has never eaten so well or so much!
The premises are always clean and tidy and there is a spacious, well-maintained garden for all to enjoy.
This care home comes highly recommended by myself and my family members who all visit regularly.

Our aunt has lived in the Grove for over two years and during that time, we have found the staff to be approachable friendly and very helpful. Our aunt has been treated with respect and she always says she is very happy. She enjoys the very good choice of food and the daily activities provided, which
are excellent. Her care is reviewed regularly with herself, a carer and us. She always looks smart and a hairdresser visits regularly. It’s such a relief to see her taken care of so well. The Grove itself is immaculate and there is a beautiful garden with lovely seating areas, which brings great delight to my aunt as she loves being outside in the sun! I especially want to commend the care taken during the pandemic to keep the residents safe and well. And there was always good communication from the manager to keep us up to date. Since visiting has been allowed, there is a very efficient booking service running. We can thoroughly recommend the Grove. It's a really special place.

My Nan has been a resident at The Grove for 3 years and we have been extremely impressed. Not only are the premises kept in excellent condition, but there are also facilities to accommodate activities and events all year round. The entertainment and activities which included family (pre-pandemic) provide
such comfort and opportunities to have fun together and the measures put in place to keep the residents and their families safe, has been exemplary - locked down a short while ahead of Government decisions and dynamic decisions on an ongoing basis, directly related to covid in the local area. Nan has improved in her health and physical well-being since arriving at the Grove and her room is well furnished and reflects her personal preferences with her home comforts. The residents have plenty of activities that they can join in with if they like. Would strongly recommend the Grove as a warm, safe, immaculate environment for relatives who will benefit from a warm and professional team around them.

The Grove has been Mum's (aged 96) home since April 2019, having lived alone for 16 years. Mum had coped well until she had falls which resulted in 6 weeks in hospital after which it became obvious that she needed more care than we could give. We knew the manager and she had said if we needed any information
she would be happy to help. Mum had 2 weeks' respite care whilst we assessed the situation. How fortunate we were, it was clear from the start that Mum felt 'at home' and was keen to remain there beyond the 2 weeks. It has been perfect. The Management and staff have been wonderful, both to Mum and to family and friends. Mum has always been a sociable person and enjoys the company of the other residents and staff. The activities are well organised and varied. The manager and the staff have, and continue to successfully steer the home through the pandemic. It has been of great comfort to know that Mum has been in safe hands. The whole team genuinely care about the loved ones entrusted to them.

My mum has been a resident at The Grove Residential Home for 3 years and is extremely happy and looked after very well in all aspects of her care during this time.
Quality of care is outstanding, each member of staff are friendly and make time for each resident and family alike, and no problem is too
small. Pre-covid 19 the home offered a variety of entertainment and activities for all to enjoy if they choose to be involved. During Covid their strict infectious control, testing and precautions have meant all residence at the home have stayed Covid free throughout the pandemic which is a credit to how well the home is run.
My mum's health has deteriorated during the 3 years however her level of care has been adapted to suit her needs, and regular reviews are held with my mum and myself to go through any queries, care and questions.
The home provides excellent home-cooked food, colourful maintained gardens in a homely environment and would not hesitate to recommend this residential home.

The people who run this home are brilliant they care for every individual, nothing is too much. Everything is catered for nothing too much trouble. My mother in law has been in there several years now and is very happy there and her health has improved since she entered the home. All through Covid it’s
been as safe as houses. They went into lockdown as soon as the news hit in early March and visiting through perspex has been very easy and stress-free. They have done everything they could to keep the virus out and to keep the residents safe and motivated.

My 100-year-old mother-in-law fell during the lockdown, in her own home. She was taken into hospital and then sent to a care home for an assessment. When her time came to move on, we were recommended The Grove by a friend whose own mother had been a resident and he was extremely complimentary. We viewed
the home, were impressed and my mother-in-law said she would like to live there - close to us, so we could visit easily and very aware she couldn't go back to her own home. She arrived on the 1st September 2020 and since then, has been treated with great care and respect. It hasn't been easy during the Covid Pandemic for anyone, but The Grove, its Manager and staff have kept her safe and well and we couldn't imagine a better place for her to be. They also treat us, as a family, very well. We thoroughly recommend this home.

It is hard to put into words how professional, loving and simply wonderful the Manager and all her team are in caring for my Mum. I looked at several care homes before choosing The Grove. I chose The Grove for its homely and particularly good atmosphere shared between the staff and residents. The manager
is passionate about her job with a good knowledge of residents’ needs and is always looking at ways to improve things. Mum is looked after impeccably, by all members of staff. Always clean, dressed and never once left in her room. From day one, Mum was engaged in the activities which are available for all residents, no matter how immobile. Mum enjoys her food which is always freshly cooked. I have never felt bad about leaving Mum as the staff work hard and go the extra mile to make her feel comfortable. Throughout the Covid pandemic, the staff worked tirelessly and were able to keep all residents and their colleagues safe. True superstars - all of them.

My mum has been at the Grove since Jan 20. The manager is outstanding and has ensured Mum is settled and has everything she needs. If ever there are things we need or questions to ask, I will email and it is sorted within a day. The really great thing is that they seem to have very little turnover of
staff, something which I know my mum and myself really like as we know all the faces and names. My mum says it feels like the closest thing to home that it could have been, if she couldn't manage in her own home anymore. She enjoys her visits from the manager and always talks about them. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone who has to make the difficult decision about leaving their own home - a decision that is very difficult for everyone.
