A small, independent home owned and run by the same managers for over 10 years and set in over an acre of grounds, Highland House is passionate about its service.

Visitors most often describe the home as 'light and airy' and Staff and Residents 'cheerful'. Highland House provides a high standard of accommodation and daily activities to allow the 27 residents the best of care.

Because the service is small and the owners are highly attentive to the needs of Residents, families and staff, the team at Highland House is very flexible in how they care for Residents. Personalised service is at the core of the service. Over the years they have accommodated many special requests - pets, a raised patio and late night dinners to name a few. Staffing levels are very high because they prioritise smooth, consistent care for Residents - as well as visiting experiences for friends and family!

Please get in touch with the team if you are thinking about care for your loved ones for a no-obligation discussion. They'd be more than happy to help.

The Highland House team have provided excellent care for my Nan. I know at times this can be challenging, however they all seem to take it in their stride.
Also making you feel welcome when visiting, this makes it a nicer experience all round.

My parents have been residents at Highland House for the past two years, and we are extremely satisfied with their care. When we first visited, we were warmly welcomed by Susan, the proprietor, whose kindness, compassion, and genuine interest in our parents' well-being immediately stood out.The home
is bright, spacious, and welcoming, and the staff are consistently caring, friendly, and attentive-nothing is too much trouble, they are so kind. Communication is excellent. We receive regular updates, have access to an online app for daily care information, and are always involved in care planning. The team is approachable and responsive, especially during medical emergencies, when we are informed immediately. Residents' well-being is prioritised through daily activities, a varied menu, and access to a garden. Feedback is encouraged, and the resident council ensures voices are heard. Highland House provides high quality, compassionate, respectful care, giving us real peace of mind.

I couldn't be happier with the care my auntie and uncle have received at Highland House over the past two years. The facilities are truly first-class, and the residents' rooms are exceptionally comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and always well maintained.

What really sets Highland House apart,

however, is the staff. They consistently go above and beyond, showing not only a high level of training and professionalism but also genuine warmth and compassion. It's clear they truly care about every resident, and their kindness has made such a difference to our family.

There is a real sense of community within the home - it feels far more like an extended family than a care facility. I have complete peace of mind knowing our loved ones are in such capable and caring hands. I would highly recommend Highland House to anyone looking for outstanding care.

Highland House is excellent. The staff look after my Grandad very well, and are always very respectful and caring towards him. He is very happy and content. He enjoys the social side, the garden, the lounge, the hairdresser and the entertainment and he definitely enjoys the excellent food. I can not
fault Highland House at all

Highland House took all my relatives needs into consideration at all times and gave here everything they could to make it feel like home for her. There was always daily activities and entertainment for her to enjoy.
They celebrated her birthday and allowed her visitors whenever they wanted to come.
There were never any nasty smells in the home or in my relatives room which was kept clean and tidy. I can highly recommend Highland House.

My husband has been in this care home since August 2025. Since then I have been very content and satisfied with the level of care he has received from both the day team and the night team. They have shown nothing but respect, patience and kindness to him and the whole staff are very responsive to his
needs. I also feel that I have received excellent support from the staff. There is never any delay with calling in the relevant external professional teams which I have found most impressive. I feel that we are very lucky that they had a room for him.

Excellent care home, it feels like a warm, caring family environment where everyone wants the very best for my dad. The team provides excellent, high quality, responsive and expert care, delivered with compassion, that enables his autonomy and dignity. And they coordinate expertly with external health
and care teams. The daily activities are great - bringing enjoyment and making every day count. And the food is also excellent. The team is also very kind and thoughtful to my mum and me, and other family members, when we visit. He couldn't be in a better place, we are delighted that he is being so well looked-after in Highland House.

Both my uncle and mother have moved into this Care Home at different times in the last seven months and they have different care needs.

I have been impressed equally by the management team and the dedication from all of the Carers.

The Carers are all very professional in their role. Communications

are good with staff at the Home, there is an App available where you can read about your loved one's day. If there is a concern a member of staff will call you.

The Home has direct contact with a GP service and every fortnight a doctor visits the Home to review residents as required.

The Home is spotlessly clean and the meals are healthy and there is a choice.

Extras the Home provides are a hair dressing service, podiatrist and making arrangements for hospital visits.

All in all the Home is the sort of place you can feel assured that your family member or friend will be cared for in their time of need.

My mother has lived at Highland House for nearly three years. In this time her dementia has gradually been getting worse. All the staff are so very patient, kind and caring. They know how to get the best out of her and are so attentive. She has sadly recently had a fall and the understanding, care and
rehabilitation has been amazing. My mum is extremely happy in the home and we as a family are very grateful for the tenderness they show to her and indeed all our family. The doors are open at any time and all are welcome inside.

Highland House looked after my grandmother for four years. As well as being charming, gregarious and fun, she could often be challenging and they handled her with utmost patience and professionalism. They've also been a huge support during her death. Thank you.

A care home succeeds or fails in the quality of its staff and in my view the staff here are top drawer and I have total faith that when I or other members of my family are not there, my father is receiving the highest quality care from attentive, happy and experienced carers.

My father has been a resident for just over 12 months, moving to Highland House after suffering a severe stroke. Since day one I cannot fault the care he has been given and the kindness he has been shown by every staff member. He has improved tremendously, far more than we had hoped and I feel this
is all due to the 24 hour care he has received. He thoroughly enjoys all his meals (and has put on weight) together with the daily activities in the lounge. Exercises with organised by staff have enabled him to get his strength back and be mobile again.

We couldn’t have asked for anything more from Highland House for the care they gave. The first year was difficult for everyone, as we still faced Covid restrictions, though the staff did everything they could to manage the situation. As my father’s health deteriorated over the last 12 months, the home
was excellent in supporting us through this with kindness and empathy.

For five years, my father was very happy and well cared for at Highland House. Now, my mother-in-law is lovingly cared for. The home's atmosphere from the moment you walk in is so warm and welcoming. Carers are so attentive and professional- they know Mum and our entire family so well.
Mum had a stroke
last year and since coming to Highland House she has gained so much of her independence back- all thanks to the supportive staff. (The hospital physio said she would never walk again- they were wrong!)
The husband/wife managers feel like an old family. They are there every day and their attention to the home is what makes it stand out. The ground and rooms are excellent. It is so fresh light and airy.
Mum's room has a patio outside her door so there is natural light and the birds squirrels and rabbits keep us all entertained. We love visiting and are so grateful she is here.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.874)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.874) out of 10 for Highland House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.924 for Highland House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (196 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 210 Ratings = 4.924
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highland House Care Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
