I always feel very welcomed when we visit my mum. I like the fact that there isn't a hierarchy of staff so all carers feel equal. There is always a lovely atmosphere and I know my mum feels safe and well cared for.

My mother, who has vascular dementia, has been a resident for just over two and a half years. On each of my visits, I have been extremely impressed by the high level of cleanliness throughout the building, not just in the general dining and lounge areas but also my mother’s room. I visit at random times/days and have found this to be the case consistently, which is very reassuring.

Over time, I have come into contact with most of the staff and management team and have always been made most welcome. They often share their personal updates with me regarding mum’s condition and talk about her in a very caring and compassionate manner. It is clear to me that they each make a genuine effort to ensure my mother is looked after in the best possible manner as her health gradually deteriorates. I have also noted on many occasions the strong teamwork ethic displayed by both the staff and management which, in my view, helps to ensure that this is very well-run and happy care home.

I was impressed with St Martin's from the first visit. My mother has been there now for seven months, and nothing has happened to alter my opinion! Everybody seems to care and nothing is too much trouble.

This would be my mum's first Christmas at St. Martins and we were invited to a wonderful Christmas party with a lovely singer who entertained us all. The mayor also attended and helped with the raffle and had a great sense of humour. All the staff were dressed up as Mother Christmas, snowman, elves etc. and made us feel very welcome.

The residents were given a gift each. There were lots of smiling faces and the atmosphere felt like a big family gathering. Then we had a fantastic buffet with a homemade coffee cake to die for!

All the hard work is appreciated and thank you to each and everyone that makes St. Martins' a very special place to be.

My uncle resides here. My husband and I were invited to attend the residents Christmas party. The party was brilliant. A wonderful singer who had everyone singing along. Every resident was personally given a Christmas present from a staff member. Also there was a very good buffet provided for residents and families. The homemade coffee cake was delicious.

It was a very relaxed and enjoyable evening. Lovely to see staff attending when not working. Lovely to have staff dressed up for this evening event as a snowman, Christmas tree, Mother Christmas etc.

After placing my uncle in the home I am so pleased he has settled. The staff have been brilliant with him and I cannot fault the home in any way. It really has made it an easy decision for me for him to be placed in the home knowing he is well looked after. The staff are brilliant in letting me know of any issues relating to my uncle.

Would highly recommend the home.

Overall Experience

This care home was undoubtedly the best that my mother had been in, out of three. It had many advantages for her. Firstly it was relatively small in number of residents, secondly she had a downstairs en-suite room, which was convenient and kept spotlessly clean. The home appeared to have an appropriate number of staff. The food appeared to be good and adequate amount given. My mother appeared content there and staff were genuinely caring, particularly in her last days. A doctor regularly attended the home and gave excellent service to residents. I believe this home is good value for money.
