I would like to take this opportunity to thank the manager and carers for making the last few years of my dad's life so happy. As I live far away, I relied on the posts on social media to keep me informed. I enjoyed looking at the photos of my dad doing activities I had never seen him do before. He
enjoyed visits from the nursery school, an assortment of animals, and spending time in the garden. My dad also participated in the exercises, arranged flowers, played games and completed art projects. During his time here, his "cheeky" personality came out more. This is something my siblings and I didn't witness very often when we were growing up. I am so happy that my dad felt so comfortable and cared for. When I was able to come back for a visit, the staff offered me coffee or tea and made me feel very welcome, too. A HUGE thank you to you all.
Reply from Mohamed Gulamhussein, Director at Fairholme HouseDear Fiona,

Thank you for your kind words and lovely review.

Dad was a true gentleman and a much-loved member of our Fairholme House family. It was a privilege to care for him and get to know him. He was greatly valued by residents and staff alike and will be fondly remembered by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He will be greatly missed by us all.

I have visited a couple of care homes and I have never been anything but impressed with this one. The staff are friendly and welcoming. They are always interacting with residents, making them feel included and stimulated. They offer a wide range of activities to cater for all interests. My Dad liked
to play chess and one of the care assistants learned how to play it so she could play with him. I was really touched by that. The nursing home itself is always clean and well-kept. My Dad really enjoyed his time in this nursing home. I will miss everyone very much.

I would like to confirm that (Sybil) is being looked after to a high standard. When I visit her (Approx once a fortnight) she always looks clean and smartly dressed. She has a very spacious bedroom with all necessary safety fittings. She has the chose of many downstairs rooms to relax in. Eg lounges,
TV room and an airy dining area. She has 3 well varied meals per day and is escorted down there by the very helpful staff members. It's difficult for her to join in with the social activities, because of her limited hearing. She has been in your care home since June 2022 and now seems very settled there.
Reply from Asgherali Gulamhussein, Owner at Fairholme HouseDear Peter,

Many thanks for taking the time to give us a review.

Sybil is a joy to have at Fairholme house and we are extremely glad that she has settled in so well.

My mother started a two week period of respite at Fairholme on 2/3/26. I was not confident that she would settle and want to make her stay permanent.
On arrival on the first day the staff took time out to introduce themselves and from that point on the care to Mum and the family has been wonderful.
Nothing is too much trouble and Mum is now getting the round the clock care she needs. She's been cared for in her home for the last five year but at aged 96 she was frightened of falling especially in the dark and early hours. The ability to buzz carers, no matter what time, and have them assist brings much comfort and security. It's more pleasurable to visit Mum at Fairholme, more than at her home. The rest areas are warm and inviting and the conservatory is especially a great place to sit with family and old neighbours. Mum said she is being well fed ("they keep feeding me" and she can choose to eat in her room or the dining room. Choice and control compared with four care home visits.
Reply from Mohamed Gulamhussein, Director at Fairholme HouseDear Kevin,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a kind and thoughtful review. It truly means a great deal to us.

We are delighted to hear that Mum has settled so well and that both she and your family have felt supported from the very beginning. We understand how important this transition can be, and we remain committed to making Fairholme a true "home from home" where residents feel safe, comfortable and well cared for.

Your kind words about our team are greatly appreciated. They take real pride in providing compassionate, person-centred care, and we will continue to ensure Mum receives the same high standard of support every day.

Thank you again for your trust in us. It is a privilege to care for Mum.

My mother has been resident here for nearly 5 years. She absolutely loves being here. She's been very well cared for . I've never had any concerns over her care, safety or welfare. Her medical needs have always been a priority. The members of staff have not only cared for her but made her feel very
much at home. Many of the staff have been here as long as she has. Some even longer. Which makes for a stable familiar environment giving her and me confidence in her continuity of care. The home itself is comfortable and clean . It has seen improvements over these years and is continuing to improve. It remains a homely environment which she feels comfortable in. The food is excellent and home cooked. numerous activities everyday which she joins in and enjoys participating. From exercises, quizzes to crafting , music and pre school children's visits. Above all the staff have time to engage with mum. I can recommend Fair Holme house to anyone who needs a caring safe environment .

My mum has been a resident at Fairholme for over 4 years and I can't recommend it highly enough.
I can visit whenever it suits me so I know that mum is always cared for. There is no great show or performance, the interaction between the staff and mum is perfectly natural. I often arrive to find a
carer helping mum with her tea or sitting beside her for a chat or just holding her hand. They engage her in conversation whenever possible and show incredible patience. Mum is always clean and well 'turned out' with brushed hair and clean coordinated clothes. Her medications are managed efficiently and a doctor visits regularly so mum can be seen easily if necessary.
Fairholme has a family-home atmosphere. There are good home cooked meals which I know mum would love. She is certainly very happy.
After a visit I always feel so thankful that we found Fairholme.

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. It truly means a great deal to all of us at Fairholme House.

We are especially grateful for your trust over the past four years and for highlighting the natural, everyday moments of care that mean so much - the conversations, the patience, the reassurance and companionship. Those small interactions are at the heart of what we believe good care should look like.

We are pleased you feel able to visit freely and see the home as it truly is. Openness and transparency are very important to us. It is also wonderful to hear that you feel your mum is well cared for, comfortable, and happy - that is always our priority.

Thank you again for your continued support and for taking the time to share your experience.

The management & care teams are extremely caring helpful supportive friendly attentive & patient. All meals & snacks are very well prepared & varied offering 3 courses every main meal session plus the home are always prepared to give their residents something of their personal choice
that may not be on the menu & ensure a variety of drinks are available all day to the residents. Medical care is a priority & administered correctly & in the event of a doctor/ambulance being required the staff ensure this is actioned immediately. The home is very clean & tidy & residents are encouraged where possible to meet & socialise together.

My father was at Fairholme house for 2 years and in this time I found the staff and Management to be friendly and very competent. They exude a very homely atmosphere, which my father commented on. The staff were always very happy to engage with my Father. I always found them helpful and nothing was
too much trouble. If my father wanted something it would appear without fuss. An example of this was that the TV in his room started to play up, and within 2 days a brand new one appeared. I would fully recommend Fairholme House to my friends and family.

My mum has been a resident at Fairholme House for over three years. Throughout this time, she has been extremely well cared for. Staff are welcoming and I enjoy the fact that they sit and spend time chatting with the residents. Staff know their residents well and it's obvious they're fond of them. The
home is warm and welcoming. Mum is always dressed well, and her hair neat. They provide lovely home cooked meals, and options in the evening meal. It has a homely atmosphere, not a corporate one, which was important to me, when searching. I sought the 'home from home' aspect of care approach.

There is a great range of activities for them each day, including visits from local nursery children and armchair exercise classes. It's lovely to see the interaction between the generations. I'm reassured that mum receives safe care and is happy. I have no hesitation in recommending Fairholme House. I always feel welcome there, and enjoy seeing everyone.

We are very pleased with Fairholme House. For the last 9 months they have provided excellent care for my cousin, who has dementia as well as mobility problems. She is better fed than she ever has been in her life! She was lonely when she got housebound, and now much enjoys the company and the many
activities. She (and the home) are always meticulously clean and her hair nicely done. We are always welcome to visit and staff are so helpful.

This care home is very unique. It’s more like a home than normal care homes. An old building set in a lovely village.
It’s a family owned business which means a closer relationship with family and residents.
The staff are very helpful and caring and give the care which suits personnel. My mum was
in there for two weeks and the staff were lovely to her.
My mum can be demanding at times so always a worry when she goes to respite.
She left happy and willing to go back.

Fairholme kindly looked after my husband whilst I had surgery. The care and kindness he received were exemplary. The food was delicious and was always available throughout the day. His room was also very comfortable.
Three years earlier my very elderly mother was well cared for at Fairholme which
is why I felt happy having my husband spend his two weeks’ respite at the home.

My experience with Fairholme House has been nothing but positive. The team at the home are kind and caring and communicative. It has been a tough time for the carers at the home due to COVID restrictions and the challenges it has brought but the staff have never let the challenges affect the care of
the residents. I would highly recommend Fairholme House and the team who work there, my friend feels safe and secure and is very happy.

When I could no longer provide the care needed for Mum, who has Dementia, I chose Fairholme House. From my first visit, I knew it was the right place, as it was small and very homely. The care and attention given is absolutely brilliant. They appear to have good communication with the doctors and health
care team, which is crucial. Mum has been at Fairholme for 6-months and has settled in well and is very happy.

My mother has only been a resident for the past few weeks but with credit to the staff, she has settled and is happy. She has a lovely room overlooking the garden with a en suite that is kept clean and although small, this means she can use it safely and independently day and night. She enjoys the entertainment
and the company of other residents which is nice to see. Food is freshly prepared and frequent and I am pleased to know she has gained weight. As well as the dedicated staff, the management and owners are easily approachable and can answer any questions or concerns you may have. As this is a smaller home with a wonderful homely atmosphere, visitors are always welcomed. It is so beneficial to know that your relative is safe and happy and well cared for, making difficult decisions much easier.

My other has been a resident at Fairholme House for the last six-plus years. To summarise:

The manager and her team of carers are second to none. They have during my mother's time at Fairholme showed compassion, dedication, skill, good humour, respect, understanding and kindness - doing a job that

must be quite stressful, especially during the pandemic.

The food is of the highest quality - served on beautifully laid tables - and homemade cakes and hot drinks are available to residents (and visitors!) between meals.

Communication between relatives and the manager/staff and the owners is extremely easy and questions and suggestions are always welcomed and carefully listened to. As a visitor, I have always been made to feel very welcome.

Entertainment - of high quality - is frequently arranged.

We simply could not have found a better residential care home.

My mother has been a resident since September 2021. On visiting the home before my mother moved in, the Manager and owners were so welcoming, kind and understanding and I immediately felt that my mother would like it there. All of the staff are always friendly and respectful. My mother seems to have
settled in well and is enjoying having company and the people around her. She had a short period after moving in when she was very poorly and I cannot commend the Manager and staff for all they did to assist with her recovery.

My mother loves her room which is bright, clean and airy. The home and communal areas always look clean and tidy. My mother enjoys being in her room watching TV but also enjoys group activities in the lounge. There is regular entertainment such as a singer coming in which my mother thoroughly enjoys. I feel at ease knowing she is somewhere safe and is looked after by such caring staff.

My mother has recently relocated to Fairholme House from a much larger (and more expensive) care home in Somerset. From minute one the staff have been both efficient and friendly, immediately putting mum at ease and welcoming her to the new environment. After her first three weeks, mum is very happy
in her placement and in particular makes frequent reference to the quality, style and choice of food on offer which she thoroughly enjoys. She also comments on the friendly nature and consistency of staff, both factors standing at odds with her previous home.

From a personal standpoint, I have found the management team easy to deal with and very accessible. They have speedily reacted to one or two minor requirements to enhance mum’s comfort. I believe that whilst Fairholme is operating within an older property, which does bring its own issues, service provision appears excellent and to be commended.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.665) out of 10 for Fairholme House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.915 for Fairholme House is calculated as follows: ( (108 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 118 Ratings = 4.915
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairholme House is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4, which has been reached with 10 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
