When visiting mum I have always found her to be treated with kindness and respect. I can say goodbye to her knowing that the staff will look after her with care and consideration and I thank them and the management team for continuing hard work.

Our mother has been at Featheron House for nearly three years now, and we have every confidence that she is being extremely well looked after. The staff are great at understanding our mother's particular needs, and she is treated with respect and obvious affection. Our sincere thanks go to the wonderful
team of care staff at Featherton House.

Mum enjoys the atmosphere and the companionship of her home. Feels safe and secure in these times particularly. She agrees it's a very good place to be and is looking forward to being out in the garden, she is already planting seeds, with help, in readiness!

During this difficult time for all of us it has been a blessing that we know Mum is safe and secure. Being able to now visit has been a real boost to Mum and me. I know she's looking forward to getting out into the garden again especially as it has been revamped.

Featherton House provider is a very professionalised caring homely service. The Covid-19 has produced major challenges which have been dealt with very well. The staff are consistent careing many have worked there for some years. The food always looks excellent, fresh with plenty of choice and individual
needs centred for.

Featherton House has always felt very welcoming and well run, friendly. This year is obviously extremely challenging and everyone is too be commended for keeping Covid infection away. My regret is that visiting is curtailed and meeting outside only possible when the weather is clement. I understand
this is being addressed but it would be nice to visit soon. My mother feels cut-off from family and friends which affects their well-being. A good job is being done in difficult times.

Featherton House has a homely, friendly atmosphere, helped by its relatively small size. The staff know the residents well and respond to their individual needs. The standard of care is excellent. My mother, who was initially reluctant to accept care, often praises the staff and tells me how well-cared-for
she is at Featherton House.

Whilst it is correct that Featherton House is a lovely old building, nicely furnished and decorated and the food and drink is like a hotel - it is really the staff that make this such a wonderful place. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone, my relative is happy and well cared for here.

My mother has been at Featherton House for almost 8 years and has been treated throughout with the utmost dignity and love. Her care has been excellent throughout. Because of COVID-19, I have not been able to see her for the past 12 weeks, but I have always been confident that she has been well looked
after and happy in her environment. I cannot spea highly enough of the staff. I am so grateful.

My relative has been a resident at Featherton for many years and is very happy there. He knows all the staff and they treat him with both respect and dignity. He enjoys chatting with them and they understand his sense of humour. My father needed medical help and taking to different appointments. They
have also supported our family through some very difficult circumstances. If you ask my father about Featherton, he will tell you that it's his home and that he is happy there.

Featherton is like home from home. The care given by the staff is second to none, both day and night. We were always made to feel welcome whatever time we visited. My Great Aunt had a relatively short stay but made great friends, enjoyed many tasty meals (frequently commented on) and loved her upstairs
room.
A summer trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park was one of her favourite outings, along with an outing for a pub lunch!

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.117)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.117) out of 10 for Featherton House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.617 for Featherton House is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.617
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Featherton House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

Welcome to Featherton House Care Home, where we offer boutique senior living near Banbury. I am delighted to have been welcomed into the Featherton House family and look forward to maintaining the high standards of service for which this home has become renowned.

When I first arrived at Featherton House, I was struck by the wonderful family-orientated atmosphere, and how it is beautifully run by highly professional staff. The residents have been incredibly welcoming and it is a lovely place to be.

We also have several generations of the same family working here, which really adds to the family feel of the home, something our residents tell us they love time after time.

Featherton House allows residents to continue to live a thriving village life. We are based at the heart of the beautiful village of Deddington, just off Market Place, with great connections to the church and other local organisations.

To achieve the best possible experience for residents, I believe that listening to their wishes and suggestions is key. We hold regular meetings to find out what new things they would like to try.
