Two years ago my mother and her family made the very difficult decision to move her into The Lady Nuffield Home after a bad fall. Now, over two years after this move, I felt I very much wanted to write a review for the home - My mother could not feel happier, safer or better looked after. She has friends amongst both the staff and the residents. The atmosphere in the home is nothing short of inspiring. The Lady Nuffield home is a very happy place. My mother says 'It's like being back at university', because of all the wonderful activities.

The Lady Nuffield is outstanding for the quality of its care, with dedicated staff who stay for years and get to know the residents very well as individuals. The staff also receive training in specialised areas such as dementia care and are always ready to talk to relatives and help with specific concerns. The home is well- laid out with a lively airy dining room and gorgeous garden with safe places to walk and shady or sunny places to sit-- gardening club is a great favourite among the activities. The food is also excellent. My mother arrived recently and is already feeling calm and confident thanks to the tactful and individualised care and support. Highly recommended.

A big thank you to the Activities Team for this week's newsletter's joyful photo of my ma blowing out the candles on her 92nd birthday cake: just the right amount of fanfare for someone who has had their fill of parties after a lifetime of hosting alongside full-time work and raising a family (Ma made us promise that her 80th birthday party would be her last!). It is such a lovely tradition that LNH chef and baker Charlie creates the resident's favourite cake on their birthday; wish I'd been there to sample what looks like a fantastic lemon drizzle cake, but we were busily preparing a family birthday tea for Ma to enjoy a little later in the day!

I continue to be impressed by the level of care provided by the home. The staff are so kind and caring and make a real effort to meet the many differing needs of the residents. The programme of activities is excellent. The variety means there is something to suit every taste and each week there is something new. My mother often joins morning and afternoon events and I can see how much she benefits from this.

My mother has just started a month's Respite care /Trial period. She has been given a lovely sunny room, where we were able to bring in some of her favourite photos and items to make her feel at home. She loves the food, the garden and the kindness of all the staff. Visitors are always made to feel welcome.

We are incredibly happy with the support my father, who has Alzheimer's, is receiving in the Lady Nuffield. He has been in the home for 3 months and has been supported to settle in well. The activities programme is fantastic both in terms of variety, consistency and frequency of activities but also in terms of the normalising social activities such as gardening, and pimms, sparkling wine and strawberries for Wimbledon. He has been supported to swap rooms to one which better meets his needs and is able to still go out for lunch with friends. The garden and building are beautiful, the staff are friendly and the location is perfect. It's very reassuring to know he is active and happy. Thank you all!

Last September (2022) I was wondering whether I should move into a care home before the winter, as I remembered that the previous winter I had thought that I couldn’t face another winter in my own home. At that time I was 93, partially sighted with age related macular disease and given to wobbling but not yet falling.
When we arrived we were welcomed by the manager and shown to my room. At 12.30 I went down to the very nice dining room to join 16 of the other 28 residents for lunch.
I soon discovered that there are lots of activities at Lady Nuffield Home. Every weekday there is something to do for about an hour each morning and afternoon. Activities include crafts, poetry reading, gardening, crosswords and board games, the last with sixth form students from St Edwards school. The staff are lovely and very caring, It’s always warm and cosy, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed.

If and when there is a crisis I feel sure I will be well cared for and my family will be less worried.

My mother has been a resident of the Lady Nuffield Home since December 2020. During this time she has been cared for with warmth and respect. It has given our family great comfort to know that she is safe and well looked after. The home's management have kept me fully informed of my mother's health and well-being and have gone to considerable trouble to accommodate her wishes (for example, enabling her to participate in Quaker meetings online). We are very pleased with our choice.

My mum is very settled and well looked after. She enjoys a wide range of activities from gardening to crossword club, outings (weather allowing) and personalised care. The staff are always welcoming, always have time and greet my mum by name, asking after family.

When she has been poorly they have made sure she is seen by the local doctor and have helped her with having her eyes checked, regular hairdressing and podiatry are provided. My mum really enjoys the food and special events such as Autumn supper, St George's day supper as well as frequent birthday celebrations. Families of residents are always invited to join in and the home is an open and friendly place. I’m so pleased we found it!

My sister has been a resident since April 2022. As a family, we were anxious that the adjustment from her full independent life into a residential setting may prove to be problematic.
However, over these last twelve months, the staff have been great and helped her make the transition journey as painless as possible.
She now has confidence to be independent but is never afraid to ask for help if needed. She feels safe and secure which for us her family, is everything we can ask for.

Many thanks to the team for their emotional, practical and caring support and understanding.
