Overall Experience

My Mother has been a Resident of Lady Nuffield Home for about three years. She is happy there and feels safe and well cared for. As a family, we find the care to be personalised, loving and of a very high standard. We feel known as a family and are always made to feel welcome. Our views and opinions are taken into account. Family members are welcome to join any of the many activities which run throughout the day and there are several suppers and social events throughout the year to which we are welcome. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lady Nuffield Home to anyone considering this sort of care for a family member or friend.

My relative has lived at Lady Nuffield for more than four years now and we have been consistently impressed by the standard of care offered.
The highlight would have to be the activities offered, not all to my relative’s taste of course, but those that are, are offered with enthusiasm and quality.
Food is also reliably good, at least in my experience joining in as a visitor.

But perhaps the most important aspect is the friendliness and availability of staff, some issues occasionally, especially at night, but generally excellent.

Overall Experience
My mother has been a resident for over four years and during the whole of that time, which includes the Covid-19 pandemic I have been completely happy with the service provided and that includes the time when it was just difficult for us all due to Covid restrictions. Both the front-line staff and the administration have been helpful, and professional in both day-to-day contact with my mother and dealing with myself and my siblings.
The quality of the accommodation is entirely satisfactory and the garden has been a joy to walk in.

When originally searching for a location for my mother, I was struck that the home neither smelled of cabbage or urine and it had a certain bustling energy around the social facilities and that is still the case today. We could not have been more fortunate.

Overall Experience

My cousin lived at the Lady Nuffield Home for a little over two years, from February 2020 to April 2022. The experience was perfect throughout. The Lady Nuffield staff cared for Jeff with great respect, warmth, and kindness throughout this time, always placing his needs as their top priority. They got to know him very well; they learnt about his colourful past; they coped with every medical problem and with any difficulty that he had, and they encouraged him to contribute his skills and knowledge to the benefit of other residents. He was happy and contented throughout his stay. And the staff all coped with the extra pressures of Covid and lockdown, taking these difficulties in their stride.

Throughout his time in Lady Nuffield, we knew without any doubt that we had made the right decision - and if I had to find a care home for someone else today, I would select the Lady Nuffield again without a moment's hesitation. Thank you!

My mother was resident at Lady Nuffield Home from October 2019 and until her passing earlier this month. The level of care and kindness she received, benefitted from, and enjoyed was exceptional. This, and for almost the whole of the last year, against the difficult backdrop of the pandemic. The calm, friendly and wholly professional approach of all staff has been exemplary at all times. She enjoyed the activities and entertainment she chose to participate in, as well as the library and walking in the beautiful garden.

My mother has been a resident at the Lady Nuffield Home for just over 3 years. We live in New Zealand but we have visited Mum for a month at a time on a yearly basis (other than in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions). On each of our visits, we were hugely impressed with the kindness, care and respect given by the staff to each of the residents. We visited Mum in the Lady Nuffield daily when we visited England and were always made to feel very welcome. We are also impressed with the enormous variety of activities provided for the residents to participate in as they wish. The activities include a wide range of activities that support the residents mental, physical, spiritual, creative well-beings. The Lady Nuffield certainly feels like a home, not an institution. From my experiences of my visits to the Lady Nuffield Home, I am hugely reassured that Mum has been and is in safe hands and, most importantly, she is happy there.

Our mother has only been at Lady Nuffield since October but my brother, my sister and I have already seen a substantial improvement in her wellbeing and calmness. She is being so well looked after both by the carers and the activities team. We have been so impressed by the consideration, solicitude and respect that she has been shown and also by the imaginative and thoughtful activities which are provided. We are very grateful to know that she is in such good hands, particularly during this difficult period of lockdown. Thank you, everyone!

I am so glad my mother found this home when she could no longer manage alone. The welcome was warm right from the beginning, and my mother felt that the community contained "real people" with whom she could interact. We have been very impressed with the activities offered by the home, which even continued during lockdown. The staff show a truly caring attitude, and welcome visitors too (except during lockdown). The food seems very adequate with a good choice of tasty dishes. Small touches like sherry on offer are much appreciated, as is the possibility to eat with my mother when we visit. The library contains a good range of books. I feel very reassured that my mother is well looked after, which is very important to me as I live in France and can't visit often. The recent newsletter is an extra bonus and helps us to feel more in touch with what is going on.

The staff are all exceedingly caring and helpful and take their time to see to the needs of the individual in any way they can. My mother has settled in well there, having entered towards the end of the first lockdown, and is always encouraged to join in the various activities which are many and varied. I can only praise the management for their handling of the situation in these difficult times, keeping everyone healthy and as much in contact as is possible. I would not hesitate to recommend the home.

The home is well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The food is excellent and there is plenty of it. There are activities planned daily. The staff are excellent. They are friendly; always introducing themselves; greeting you by name; they are cheerful; much in evidence.

They are highly professional and competent - they have encouraged my mother to stay mobile and independent etc. The home is warm. The resident's doors are open and there is a very positive, welcoming, 'homely' feel.

Overall Experience

My mother lived for six years in Lady Nuffield Home and died there in November 2016 aged 94. At all stages of her time there, the quality of care was exemplary. In the early days when she was active, a very large variety of interesting activities were on offer, all of which she enjoyed very much indeed. The activities both enabled the residents to exercise their intellectual and physical faculties, but also provided a social focus and contributed to the community feel of the home. As my mother became less mobile, the care of the staff was of a very high quality indeed. Not only was she looked after physically extremely well, but the carers were uniformly kind, friendly and extremely caring. There is a very low staff turnover (and retired staff often come back to do specific activities such as reading to the residents) so that the residents feel secure and are really able to get to know the staff. All the staff at all levels are superb.

Home is clean, comfortable, non-institutional in furnishings and decor. Staff are invariably courteous, warm and treat residents as individuals. There is a full program of activities most days. The small (ish) resident population plus mixed care needs work well to create a community.

Overall Experience

As the daughter of a resident who lived at the Lady Nuffield Home for three and a half years, I have nothing but praise for it, and deep gratitude towards its staff at all levels. They recognised from the outset my father's individual social needs and preferences and operate a policy which is the opposite of one size fits all.

The senior staff take an active interest in the health and wellbeing of residents without being intrusive, and make helpful suggestions for options and resources to improve quality of life. They are also sensitive to the needs of different members of the resident's family and other visitors, especially at any times of the resident's ill health and most crucially of all, in terms of end of life care.

The rooms and public spaces are bright, attractive and well maintained and the garden is a pleasure to sit in. The regular events marking the seasons or special national occasions provide enjoyable opportunities for staff, residents and visitors to share.

We, myself and my wife, have been incredibly impressed by the Lady Nuffield home. My mother is well looked after: the care, food, activities and facilities are good; she is happy and well settled - we could not ask for more.
The home is wonderfully clean and fresh smelling. The staff are all really friendly and helpful; it also appears to be very well run. Despite the cost we would happily recommend this home.

This review covers the period from the autumn 2015 up to July 2016.
