Oxenford House

My mother was in Oxenford for almost 10 weeks for respite care. Throughout her stay all the staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and no task was too much trouble. The facilities and activities were excellent. She enjoyed the organised excursions. Should we need respite or long term care in the future this would be my first choice.

I cannot speak highly enough of the place and would warmly recommend it.

Having lived independently, my elderly mother had been taken into hospital following a stroke. Having been on the ward for 6 weeks she was needing to be discharged but could not go home. Her time in hospital had been quite traumatic for her and at the point of discharge, she was a shadow of who she had been with significant care needs.

She has been a respite resident in Oxenford House for just over 2 weeks and is a different person. Every day she is up, dressed and in the lounge. Although she cannot participate fully, she enjoys the 'buzz' around her and is beginning to eat and drink again. This has far exceeded my expectations and is a testament to the staff. Everyone is professional and endlessly kind and patient. There is strong leadership and vision that is evident in every aspect of the resident's experience. My mother is safe, well cared for and so much calmer and happier. This feels like a real family home rather than a 'care home'

My mother Hazel receives excellent care at Oxenford House. The staff are very kind and attentive, and she is very well looked after.

This really is the most lovely and happiest Care Home I've ever visited or seen. My dad's been there since it's January and it really is a fantastic place for anyone to have their loved ones stay. Can't speak highly enough of the staff, their attitude, their positivity, and general care for the residents and the families of the residents. If you're thinking of Care Home provision for your loved one and are local, please do visit and look around, you won't be disappointed. Best decision I ever made for my father who is by the way 97 next month.

My mother appreciates the quiet noticing and attention of the staff. Many of the caring staff have worked here for several years - always a very good sign. Oxenford is a calm, caring environment and believes in creating a home however possible for residents.

Having researched many care homes in the area for my friend. I was recommended to try Oxenford House. From the first contact a year ago to now they have been superb. They have cared for my friend (Dave) with love, and exceptional expertise, well above normal standards and my expectations. Every step of the way their communications have been amazing and friendly. In short once could not expect or receive better all round care anywhere.

Staff at Oxenford House were unfailingly kind to my father-in-law. The activities co-ordinator and others took the time to learn about his likes and dislikes, organising a boat trip and a theatre visit to welcome him to his new home. Sadly, he received a terminal diagnosis a few months after moving in, but we will always be grateful for the kindness he experienced until the end.

My uncle has tried a few home in the past year, so we have experience to make comparisons. This is by far the nicest place for my uncle to live and he's very happy. It gives you great peace of mind to know that all his needs are addressed and he is in a caring environment. The staff are always happy and can't do enough to make my uncle feel at home. The home does not have the feeling of a plush hotel but instead has a really homely, clean feel about it - Just how it should be, a home from home.

I love my visits and look forward to seeing my brother and his carers.

My mother moved into Oxenford on 7th May after a couple of 'trial' respite stays. She has been made to feel so welcome - and has settled in quickly, feeling very content and happy. She loves all of the many activities, the food which is absolutely superb (I know because I stayed for lunch on one of my weekly visits) and the staff who go over and above what might reasonably be expected to make their residents happy, comfortable and entertained / occupied. Oxenford is very special. It is happy and uplifting and small enough to have a nice family feel. As a family we couldn't be happier.

I would like to thank the staff of Oxenford for they way they cared for my mother in law for the last fie years of her life, especially her last week where she was turned frequently and kept comfortable during an unresponsive and sleepy stage. They gave us peace of kind knowing she was in such a happy and caring place.

The home is clean, happy and cheerful. My mother is talked to and the staff are attentive, kind and caring. They have got to know my mother very quickly and are aware of her likes and dislikes. She is happy and calm when I visit her and is very fond of the staff.

My mum had 5 weeks of respite care this winter at Oxenford. They looked after her really well, we are all very happy with everything. All the staff were super helpful and did all they could to help her settle in and feel welcome. Recommended.

The care provided by all staff was way beyond expectations as was the cleanliness of the entire property. Mum was always beautifully dressed and hair neatly set. Despite her limited mobility, she was even taken out on trips. As her dementia deteriorated, the staff and management did all they could to accommodate her. Eventually, she had to be relocated to enable high-level nursing care. On her death, they even sent representatives to her funeral. What an amazing team.

She frequently remarks on the quality of the meals, which is significant as she has been recognised as a very high-quality family cook for over 50 years!

It's the care and support and that the residents are treated with dignity.

I can't speak highly enough of the care my mother receives at Oxenford House. All the staff are so kind and caring, as well as being efficient and professional. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they give top priority to residents' needs and wishes. They have created a really 'family feel' to the home and take every opportunity to celebrate birthdays, Christmas and national events. A wide range of activities and entertainment is offered every week - from craft/cooking to visiting entertainers and animals/birds brought in for residents to hold and stroke. There's a Scrabble Club, dominoes, bingo, quizzes and jigsaw puzzles, as well as regular excursions to local places of interest eg garden centres or shopping trips or a wheel or walk around the village. I have every confidence that my very elderly mum is in safe hands, night and day, and she has been happy from her first day, eighteen months ago. Some staff have been there for years, and all work happily together.
