My mum has been a resident for over 18 months and she is very happy. She has a large room, care around the clock, good food and activities to keep her busy and entertained. The building has lovely grounds for the residents to walk around and as a visitor I like to walk there in the warmer weather.
I feel that my mum is safe and well cared for.
I have attended a relatives meeting, which was very well organised.

My Mum moved into St Augustine's Care Home in January 2023 after having a heart attack and pneumonia and being left extremely weak and unable to walk. It was fortunately recommended to us by one of her friends. The staff were very welcoming and caring both to her and our family. They managed to nurse
her back to better health than we could have hoped for and keep her safe and happy. I am so grateful to the sisters, carers and receptionists for their kindness and the dignity with which they treat the residents. The atmosphere is perfect for my Mum and she loves the religious aspect, particularly being able to attend Mass at the beautiful little chapel there.

My mother chose St. Augustines Care Home in Addlestone because it is Catholic Residential Home run by the sisters, residents are able to attend mass twice a week and she has attended Sunday mass at the chapel previously.
We met with the care home manager who gave a very honest review of the home, the
improvements that enabled St. Augustines to have a good CQC rating and she showed us around the premises and facilities.
My mum after residing at the home for almost a year has settled really well and feels that it is her home with her own space when she wants privacy. The sisters and carers are really kind and ensure that my mum is well fed, cared for and can attend mass and medical appointments.
Being at the care home had enabled me and my siblings to feel peaceful that my mum is being well cared for and that mum is happy, has made some friends and feels that she is at home.

At St Augustine’s Care Home, the staff and sisters work tirelessly to provide high standards of care with kindness and compassion. Our mother passed away recently, having resided at the home for the past few years. She was always treated with warmth and kindness. We would have no hesitation in recommending
St Augustine’s to anyone; it is a very special and spiritual place for both residents and relatives.

My mother has lived in St Augustine’s Care Home for the past years, and this is the first in 6 years that we have seen improvement in the home. The manager recently introduced a new system whereby the team meets and discusses my mother's health and well-being, and the manager feedback on the outcome
to me immediately after the meeting. My mother's health has improved, and she looks much brighter. The home has also introduced soft music playing in the background during mealtime, which has really improved my mother's dining experience. The care staff are brilliant, and I am really impressed with the new changes in the home. Thank you to the manager and the team at St Augustine’s Care Home, and well done.

Staff and sisters always give their best efforts to provide a great level of care. Staff retention is probably in so many homes. Management has recently addressed this by requesting qualified staff apply for roles, addressing pay and implementing a structure for staff with progression NVQ. Staff offer
compassion, kindness to all the residents at all times.
Daily challenging situations make this an exceptionally difficult job, sadly the nature of the profession. The four senior staff are doing an amazing job at this present time. Plus all the staff and sisters. Appointment of the new manager has proved to be the best decision, so much is done behind closed doors, including policies, keeping up with legislation and constant flow of care planning etc, but she is also on the frontline providing medication, family and staff meetings, support for residents and staff. Wonderful team, in difficult times; thank you so much for adding quality to our loved ones lives.

I was privileged to attend the Queens Jubilee celebrations with my grandad, who lives at St Augustine’s care home. The home manager and some of the sisters hosted the event, and it was excellent. We saw residents and family members socialising, and people were engaged in sharing their experiences of
the Queen, and they were also answering questions and enjoying a beautiful meal. There were high-quality safety measures in place to reduce the risk of Covid transmission, and the home manager ensured that people are aware of the safety measures. Overall, the staffs are pleasant, caring, kind and polite, and we enjoyed the day with Grandad.
Thanks to the home manager, sisters and all the staff at St Augustine’s Care Home.

To start with, when my husband was taken ill and was taken into hospital at the beginning of December, it looked highly likely he would need a care home. So, started looking for one suitable for his needs. Was recommended St Augustine's by several people, so continued trusting that he would be accepted
and was delighted when he was accepted. I am so very happy with the way he is being looked after, the managers and staff are so loving and caring, and he has settled in so well, and has accepted it's his home. This gives me great peace, and I am so grateful.

My father was being cared for at home with carers visiting several times a day and despite their best efforts, he was sadly becoming more and more withdrawn. St Augustine's was highly recommended and has not disappointed us. Dad has now remained out of the hospital for the longest period in years, he
is engaging with staff well and always looks well cared for. As a family, we are very great full for brilliant care dad has received. You all work so hard. We thank you for everything.

My mother was living in sheltered accommodation for a number of years, but was shielded during the first lockdown and could not contact other residents. She was diagnosed with vascular dementia on a telephone assessment. She was initially given a community care package of 2 carer visits, which was then
increased to 3 carer visits. While the community carers provided an excellent service, the long periods of isolation were having a detrimental effect on Mum's dementia. Following discussions with Social Services, the family made the decision to do a trial period for Mum in a local care home, with a view to becoming a permanent arrangement.

From the initial contact, the response from the care home manager and her team has been prompt, efficient and caring. Mum is making friends with other residents and the carer team. Mum is enjoying the meals that are cooked on site. Our family are firmly convinced that we have made the right decision in choosing St Augustine's.

My mother has been a resident at St Augustine's for the last four years. I have found the staff efficient, caring, and compassionate. At the start of her residency in 2017, there were some issues concerning leadership at the home but these improved, and especially since the current manager has been
in the post the home has gone from strength to strength.
The new manager has clearly introduced strong leadership to staff with a caring attitude to the residents. She has led from the front during the early days and throughout the Covid-19 crisis by moving into the home and introducing solid guidelines that have proved successful in that no resident has contracted Coronavirus.
My mother is now 96 years and her health and mobility have deteriorated in the last twelve months but to the credit of all the staff they have kept pace and introduced additional measures to ensure my mother's needs are continually met.
I have no hesitation in recommending St Augustine's.

Mum is 91 and for years I and my family had been in despair for her health and safety because she lived alone. What a blessing to find St. Augustine's home for her, early this year. I was encouraged at my first meeting and they were so positive and welcoming. I could see clearly as I looked around,
that her management and leadership has underpinned a beautifully bright, clean and well- functioning environment. Fun, too. The carers are so professional and loving in their response to the elderly there, as indeed, are the Sisters who contribute so much in their daily lives. It is very reassuring to know that my mother's needs are carefully monitored; I have been kept informed of each little break in her health (which is managed swiftly) and updated. It's so good to see Mum eating and drinking properly again and being well. The chefs produce the most marvelous food. In Lockdown, standards and spirits have been kept high. Absolutely five stars, St. Augustine's.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.761)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.761) out of 10 for St Augustine's Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.780 for St Augustine's Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.78
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.981 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Augustine's Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.481
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
