St Augustine's Care Home

A great care home. My mother is very happy and receives all the care she needs, and more. The staff go out of their way to make it feel like a home away from home and every aspect of mum's care is taken care of.

I find the carehome very approachable and friendly. Most of the staff are very lovely and helpful. There is 1 or 2 members of staff are'nt very caring when washing or showering in the mornings. Home is extremly kept clean + tidy, plus washing their clothes.

My husband had been in St Augustines for nearly five years and was always treated with great care and dignity, St Augustine's staff are very careing and my husband was very happy there. He sadly died in March but he and our family were given lots of love and support.

My mum was a resident at St Augustine's until May 2026 when she passed away. The care was on the whole very good, and it improved in the last few months. The kindness shown by the nuns was amazing, unforgettable. The home has amazing large gardens which were well kept and the food was very good - I enjoyed eating there quite often! The home decoration is a bit old fashioned but it was nearly always kept clean + there was rarely a bad smell. The management went through a bad patch but under the new manager, Bernad, it has improved.

My mum joined St Augustines in January 2023 after being seriously ill in hospital due to a heart attack and pneumonia. She was wonderfully looked after as soon as she arrived and quickly settled in, despite fifty years in her old home. She loves being able to attend mass in the beautiful chapel and being able to chat to the nuns. Her carers treat her with kindness and dignity. The whole family enjoy the gorgeous grounds. There is a calm and friendly atmosphere.

The convenience of the home was the overwhelming reason I chose it. The care provided by staff and carers confirms I made the right choice. The buildings and furniture do require major upgrades to meet modern standards; it is appreciated that significant investment is required for this.

St Augustine care home is a truly special place the moment you walk in, you feel the warmth it's cosy environment charm of its beautiful old building. The chapel is absolutely stunning.you can clearly see the effort and dedication that has gone in to making continuous improvement The management team is incredibly welcoming, supportive and genuinely committed. I would highly recommend St Augustine Care Home to anyone looking for compassionate care.

At St Augustine’s Care Home, the staff and sisters work tirelessly to provide high standards of care with kindness and compassion. Our mother passed away recently, having resided at the home for the past few years. She was always treated with warmth and kindness. We would have no hesitation in recommending St Augustine’s to anyone; it is a very special and spiritual place for both residents and relatives.

Friendly, caring and a good atmosphere.

My mother has lived in St Augustine’s Care Home for the past years, and this is the first in 6 years that we have seen improvement in the home. The manager recently introduced a new system whereby the team meets and discusses my mother's health and well-being, and the manager feedback on the outcome to me immediately after the meeting. My mother's health has improved, and she looks much brighter. The home has also introduced soft music playing in the background during mealtime, which has really improved my mother's dining experience. The care staff are brilliant, and I am really impressed with the new changes in the home. Thank you to the manager and the team at St Augustine’s Care Home, and well done.

Daily challenging situations make this an exceptionally difficult job, sadly the nature of the profession. The four senior staff are doing an amazing job at this present time. Plus all the staff and sisters. Appointment of the new manager has proved to be the best decision, so much is done behind closed doors, including policies, keeping up with legislation and constant flow of care planning etc, but she is also on the frontline providing medication, family and staff meetings, support for residents and staff. Wonderful team, in difficult times; thank you so much for adding quality to our loved ones lives.

My mother came to live in the home on respite. She was happy with the food, lots of activities with animal therapy, and the staff were very caring. The garden was excellent, and she enjoyed socialising with others.
