David Gresham House opened in 1986 and has been one of Surrey's leading providers of residential care, respite and day care.

The home is proud to be part of the Abbeyfield Society and adhere to their care values. The care home is run by a highly professional team, supported by over 70 volunteers with an Executive Board in place to oversee operations.

David Gresham House is set in its own attractive landscaped grounds and within walking distance of local shops and the train station. David Gresham house offers a relaxed but secure homely environment. They provide the appropriate individually assessed levels of care essential to uphold the privacy, independence and dignity of every one of their residents.

They offer a daily programme of activities, both within David Gresham House and outside.

Residents are encouraged to take part in these to help maintain mental alertness, self-esteem and social interaction with others.

The aim of the Society is to provide its residents with a secure, relaxed and homely environment in which 24 hour per day care, well-being and comfort are of prime importance.

It is the Society's aim that its residents should live as full and active life as their health will allow, enjoying the respect of those who support them, with their dignity preserved and their privacy ensured. It is their belief that residents living in an elderly care setting have the same rights as any other individual member of society. Living in an Abbeyfield home should afford feelings of safety, security and companionship, without losing the right of individual freedom.

My mum has been at David Gresham for 2.5 years now and the care she has had and is getting is first class. Lovely staff that are stable- no constant staff changes.


The place is quite small and homely with a lovely garden

Our Mother has been a resident for over two and a half years now. Throughout, she has been treated with the utmost care and kindness from all the care staff. There is definitely a personal, family feel to David Gresham, which gives us the family a great deal of reassurance. There is a wide range of
activities provided for the residents and we have always enjoyed attending the events that are arranged to include the family.

Kind caring environment. Fabulous friendly staff . The home always smells fresh and fragrant . It is spotlessly clean . Beautiful well maintained buildings and gardens . The care received at David Gresham is amazing, the carers are warm and friendly .

My mother came to David Gresham House in July 2022 after feeling anxious and worried in her own home. We liked the fact that David Gresham House is very small compared to some larger care homes and the staff certainly go out of their way to make it feel like a 'home from home'. The choice of activities
and outings is many and various, the food is excellent and there are always fresh flowers and tablecloths on the tables. As a result my mother now feels safe and well cared for and we no longer have to worry about her wellbeing.

i would like to thank everyone of the staff for their kindness and care for the 10 days I stayed at David Gresham House this month ( May 2025). I really appreciated all that they did for me and the consideration they gave to all residents. It was so lovely being waited on hand and foot. I was reluctant

Our mother was a resident at David Gresham House for two years, and during that time me and my siblings felt incredibly secure in the knowledge that she was being looked after by a very professional and caring team at the home. The staff are first and foremost lovely people, caring and easy to talk
to, and all had a nice sense of humour and positivity about them. We eventually reluctantly decided to move our mother to be nearer to my sister's home so that she could get daily regular family visits, and it was quite emotional seeing the staff saying goodbye to her and wishing her well in the future. You could see that they were going to miss each other. Thank you to David Gresham House for giving her such an enjoyable two years.

Mum had been a resident since 2021 and we've always found the care staff excellent - the care is personal and consistent. There is a small team who remain constant in contrast to the home my father went to for his last couple of months where you rarely saw the same face twice in one week. There is a
sense that nothing is too much to ask. She was treated with dignity and respect. My mother died at the care home in December - she was allowed to remain there in her room and not sent off to hospital as she per her wishes. Staff could not have done more to make mum comfortable popping in to hold her hand or give her a sip of water when the family was not able to visit and they were also incredibly kind to us as we visited in the last few days. Prior to this last month I would say that mum enjoyed being at David Gresham House and liked her room. She did not join many activities but those she went to she really enjoyed facilitated by staff for example offering enlarged texts for the play-reading group.

My mother moved in six months ago having been struggling at home. She has settled in well, the staff are all friendly and helpful and she particularly loves the food. She now has the choice of her own company in her room, or joining others for meals and activities. She also enjoys the garden now the
summer is here.

David Gresham House provides an extremely safe and friendly environment for my Mother, who has told me she enjoys living there. The staff are friendly and approachable and are always visibly available and easily identifiable.
There are activities nearly every day if not every day and a hairdresser
is also in the home on a regular basis and someone to take care of their nails, which my mother appreciates and is always proud to show me when I visit.
My mother had lived on her own for twenty years prior to moving to David Gresham House, with care coming in, however, she was becoming increasingly agitated and worried about falling and had a poor diet consisting of microwave meals. Her diet has vastly improved as has her mental stimulation.

All staff so helpful, friendly and reassuring. Hospitable to any visitors offering them tea/coffee on their rounds.
Daily clean clothes.
The food excellent and I am more than saddened that I have a very poor appetite. Appreciated the no pressure to go to the dining room and thank you for bringing
lunch and dinner to my room.
More than glad that I was recommended by friends (her mother was in here) on discharge from the hospital. Not ready then for home but the staff have helped me to prepare for that. Thank you all.

I had a short stay following surgery. All the staff were very caring and helpful. My requests were listened to and acted upon speedily. This was my second respite visit and thoroughly recommend David Gresham House for this purpose.

Booked in for a short respite stay after surgery. The dialogues and communication prior to the stay were pleasant, thorough, helpful and provided justified confidence in the arrangement.
The staff and facilities for my stay were excellent, and I felt comfortable and was very well supported throughout.
This
respite stay has informed me considerably, and I now know there's a solution ready and waiting to meet future needs.

My grandmother went to David Gresham for temporary respite; she soon made remarkable progress and decided to remain there as a resident. David Gresham has given her the security and support she needed after struggling on her own at home. The staff are truly wonderful, they are on hand constantly and
will help with anything - I previously spoke to my grandmother every day when she was at home and the staff have ensured that we are able to easily have the same level of contact which is so important. David Gresham House offers its guests and residents so much; great food, warm and comfortable rooms, a social calendar with a fabulous selection of events and friendly support. Cannot recommend David Gresham House, the manager and the staff enough. This was the best outcome and the best decision my grandmother has made. Thank you for everything!

My mother moved into David Gresham House at the beginning of October 2022, having been widowed a year previously. Before moving she had become increasingly lonely living in the family home. Since moving in she has had a new lease of life. She is a very social person and the daily events at the home
have enhanced her life. The food is excellent with a daily choice for the residents at all mealtimes. The cleanliness of the home cannot be faulted and mum's room is well-appointed with everything she needs. She has total freedom of choice in what activities she partakes in, with the lovely garden affording a great place to enjoy the outdoors. Special mention goes to the staff, many of whom have been there for many years, a great indictment of how the home is run. The staff are friendly and welcoming to residents and visitors alike. Undoubtedly this was a great place for mum to move to.

My mother moved to David Gresham House on 26th February 2011 and we understand she had the longest term of residency to date.
We cannot fault the quality of care provided, from hygiene, medical, meals and social activities.
The care throughout her stay has been kind, friendly and attentive which
no doubt contributed to her long and happy stay.
Needless to say, we would not hesitate to recommend David Gresham House to anyone looking for a first-class care home either for themselves or for an elderly relative.

My mum has been a resident at David Gresham House since March 2020. The staff and management have been amazing with Mum and very supportive of us both during her stay as she has quite unique needs which warrant continuous reassurance for extreme anxiety and constant tremours also mild vascular dementia.
The only reason why she has now been moved to a care home is that her needs are becoming more intense and I have family nearer there to help me support her.

Emese Pomezanski

Job Title: Registered House Manager

Joined: 2024

Emese’s early working career developed from studying sports & exercise therapy, delivering tailor-made exercise/rehabilitation programs to her clients of all ages.


She completed the Level 5 Leadership & Management Diploma in Adult Health and Social Care and became the CQC Registered Care Home Manager for Wolfe House Care Home in Oxted, Surrey.


After completing a Level Six Leadership & Management module with the University of Surrey, Emese joined the Society in 2024 as the Registered Manager at David Gresham House and now heads the team at our lovely residential care home in Oxted.

Andy has been with David Gresham House since 1991 and held his current position since 2004. He holds an NVQ Level 4 in Care and the NVQ Assessors Award.


His role is to support the Registered Manager and manage the everyday care needs of our Residents.
