My father is a recent resident and has just celebrated his 90th birthday here.
The staff are very caring and have gone out of their way to make him feel comfortable and at-home.
The garden is lovely and easy to access. There are activities throughout the week and a well organised excursion about
once month. A facility minibus means trips are both local and far ranging.
The food is really good, and care is taken to make sure there are always meals that my father will enjoy. Snacks and tea are provided throughout the day.
Visiting is easy and it has been a pleasure to get to know the regular carers and other residents.
I really appreciate how communicative the staff and management are, which has been reassuring and very helpful. I am kept informed of how he's getting on and his changing medical conditions, and feel well supported when making necessary decisions about care.
I highly recommend Ridgway Court and am very appreciative of the care and fond attention my father is receiving.

Reply from Mel Harris, Registered Manager at Ridgway Court

Thank you so much for taking time to share your kind words. We will pass these on to the team and they will be so pleased that both your father and yourself are happy with his care at our home. Best wishes from all at AWVS.

The nursing staff have been exemplary in managing my Mothers condition providing great support to her in settling into a new home that has been stressful for her! my friend has been a resident at Maitland House for over four years. In that time the staffing has improved with fewer agency staff and staff and management that are friendly and helpful. If I have a concern it is that the staffing ratio is fine for those residents that can (and are willing) to get
to the lounge to join in with other residents but for those who stay in their rooms do not have much companionship from the staff.

Reply from Tracy Frampton, Registered Manager at Maitland House

Thank you for taking the time to review our home - our team will be very pleased to read your kind words.Although our home is extremely social, there are residents who prefer their own company on occasions. Our activities teams build this into their daily schedule and have a programme of one-to-one activities, where they go into residents' rooms and spend personalised quality time with the individual. Our care teams then pop in regularly throughout the day to ensure each and every resident has everything they need and residents are always gently encouraged to come down and socialise whenever possible. As a charity we also have a wonderful team of volunteers who visit Maitland House - they too tend to spend a lot of one-to-one time with residents in their rooms. Thanks again and best wishes from all at Maitland House

Overall we are very happy with the care my husband receives. He has settled in very well and is happy with the carers and the surroundings and this therefore allows us to feel confident that he is in the right place. He is happy with his room and that he has an en-suite. He loves his cups of tea and
appreciates the staff always providing this for him.

Maitland House provides a very safe and caring environment for my mother. As they are a not for profit organisation the fees are used directly for staffing and facilities, with no need to return profits to shareholders and this is apparent throughout the home. Staffing levels are generally very good
and the team is polite, caring and focussed on the needs of the residents. Her room and the communal areas are very clean and the laundry service does a great job of ensuring the right clothes are returned to each resident. Before arriving at the home my mother was falling regularly and didn't feel safe in her home, despite the care we put in place. She has been at Maitland House for 2 years and they have managed her safety incredibly well. Medical attention is provided regularly and any issues responded to promptly. The activity manager works hard to provide a range of activities for residents and there is a wonderful garden.

Our brother-in-law has been living at Mailand House for over a year now & we are aware of his health and confidence improving over this time. When visiting him, my husband & I find every member of staff friendly, informative, helpful and clearly, they have spent some time getting to know our relative.
We have every confidence that he is being well cared for in every way. He seems very content in his new environment, he is happy with his room & its facilities plus he enjoys the food. Given that he went into this facility very reluctantly, we are delighted that he has become content to be a permanent resident. I'm sure that the staff at Maitland House will do everything in their power to maintain this. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Care Home to others.

I'm writing a review today as it's now 12 months since my mother moved into Nower House. Mum lived independently until she turned 90 and it is now such a relief to know she is well cared for and all her needs met by the wonderful team at Nower House. The food is great and mum enjoys the social activities
and being able to chat with other residents. It is a very friendly place and over the past 12 months I have enjoyed getting to know lots of the residents and staff so now it feels like I'm visiting a home. Thank you

My sister has been in Nower House for over a year. My husband and I are regular visitors and are very impressed with so many aspects of the care provided. The staff are kind, empathetic and supportive to the residents and there is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere whenever you visit. The home is spotlessly
clean, the food looks very good and so much thought clearly goes into the excellent daily activities arranged. We feel very reassured about the high level of care being given.

The food is very good, varied and nutritious. There are many interesting activities in the Home and many visits arranged

The Home has a welcoming friendly environment. The atmosphere is busy, and caring. The staff do everything to make the residents comfortable and safe.
Always make visitors welcome too.
The car park available at the Home has restricted parking and is not purely for visitors. This can be a problem when
there is work being carried out at the Home. I believe there are other properties owned adjacent that could provide parking for workers which would free up spaces on the forecourt.
The rooms are always clean and tidy.
Television viewing is limited and could be improved with additional channels.

Reply from Iain Looms, Marketing Manager at Nower House

Thank you for your kind review - I'm pleased you feel our home is friendly and caring. It's so important to create the right atmosphere within a home and we are proud of the comments that come back complementing this. With regard to the parking - we have been doing a lot of work since taking over the home and are currently installing new shower rooms. The car park by the entrance on Coldharbour Lane should primarily be for guests so we will look into the parking arrangements and ensure tradespeople and other staff members are leaving plenty of space for visitors to park. Thanks again for taking the time to pass on your comments.

My mother came to David Gresham House in July 2022 after feeling anxious and worried in her own home. We liked the fact that David Gresham House is very small compared to some larger care homes and the staff certainly go out of their way to make it feel like a 'home from home'. The choice of activities
and outings is many and various, the food is excellent and there are always fresh flowers and tablecloths on the tables. As a result my mother now feels safe and well cared for and we no longer have to worry about her wellbeing.

I highly recommend Wey Valley as an exceptional care home. My father has been a resident for several years and is very happy with the care and dedication of the staff. They are all very friendly, welcoming and professional and make the place feel like 'home'. There is a great atmosphere and lots of
activities, entertainment and excursions for the residents. The dining room and lounge area is a lovely meeting place and overlooks the river with doors opening on to the patio when the weather is warm. There are lots of 'passers-by' walking along the riverside path.. cyclists, dogs, children etc. which my dad loves to see! The communication from the home is excellent, with regular news letters, monthly entertainment schedule etc. If there is any problem with my dad, I immediately get a call to inform and update me and I know that he is checked on regularly when he is in his room. He enjoys the food with varied menus and plenty of choice! This is a fantastic home with fantastic staff.
