On entering the home there is a wonderful atmosphere- extremely clean and bright. The staff are amazing and certainly care for the patients. On seeing the laundry put away in the wardrobe was amazing- all very neatly ironed. The staff are a credit to Abbey Field, they deserve 10.00.

I highly recommend Wey Valley as an exceptional care home. My father has been a resident for several years and is very happy with the care and dedication of the staff. They are all very friendly, welcoming and professional and make the place feel like 'home'. There is a great atmosphere and lots of
activities, entertainment and excursions for the residents. The dining room and lounge area is a lovely meeting place and overlooks the river with doors opening on to the patio when the weather is warm. There are lots of 'passers-by' walking along the riverside path.. cyclists, dogs, children etc. which my dad loves to see! The communication from the home is excellent, with regular news letters, monthly entertainment schedule etc. If there is any problem with my dad, I immediately get a call to inform and update me and I know that he is checked on regularly when he is in his room. He enjoys the food with varied menus and plenty of choice! This is a fantastic home with fantastic staff.

The team at Wey Valley are first class. They endeavour to make the care home as much like a home as is reasonably practicable. They work together well, lovingly care for each resident, and keep the family informed of any changes or needs. There is a full programme of activities and trips out and they're
always celebrating something or other! Meals are freshly cooked and much enjoyed.
From a daughter's point of view I feel reassured he's safe, well cared for and greatly respected.

Made several visits to my friend. On each occasion I have noted how friendly the staff are, very considerate and smiley. The bedroom and bathroom were lovely and clean. The surrounding area well kept. The atmosphere when entering the home is homely and welcoming. Enjoy visiting and pleased my friend

Shortly before having a total hip replacement operation I was told about Wey Valley House offering short post-operative support/respite care. This suited my requirements perfectly, I visited and then immediately booked myself in for a week. It was the right decision in every way. The staff were all
caring and supportive, the overall atmosphere of Wey Valley House is a very happy one, the food was varied and enjoyable and I was able to just get on with focussing on my recovery. I have already decided that should I need post-operative care in the future I would want to return to Wey Valley House. I have given similar feedback to several of my friends.

Just a lovely place with a great atmosphere where everyone is treated with respect, compassion and love. For my dad, he couldn't be better served and cared for. For myself and family, there is peace of mind knowing my dad is in safe hands. I love to visit and am treated with a warm welcome always and

Thirty years ago I did the tea trolley here and always said if I go in a home when I am old, this is where I wanted to come. Soon after my ninety-fifth birthday I moved in and can honestly say I have never regretted it for one moment.

My friend was previously at another care home where he resided for a year. A family decision to move him closer to his direct family, he opted for Wey Valley House. He is happy here, has a pleasant room overlooking the canal.

Michelle

Michelle Blower

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2015

Michelle has worked in Health and Social Care for 10 years. For 5 years Michelle worked with Adults and Children with learning disabilities. Michelle started working for Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society in 2015 as a Senior Care Assistant at Wey Valley House. She then progressed to Deputy Manager at Ridgway Court in 2019.


Michelle has NVQ3 and NVQ5 in Health and Social care and the Care Certificate. She has also had courses in First Aid, Health and Safety, Infection Control, Fire Marshall, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling and SOVA Management, COSHH, Drug Administration, End of Life Care, Diabetes Awareness, Dementia, Mental Health, Equality and Diversity, Support and supervision.


In April 2021 Michelle switched roles within the society to return to Wey Valley House as the new Deputy Manager.

Nathan

Nathan Cripps

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2022

Nathan has been in the care industry for eleven years gaining extensive experience in domiciliary care, elderly nursing care and complex needs.


He has completed his level 2 and 3 QCF and has recently earned a foundation degree in management and leadership after completing his level five QCF.


Nathan joined Wey Valley House in 2022 and works alongside Michelle ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the home. His office is right by the front door as you enter the home, and his door is always open for both residents and their loved ones to pop in for a chat!


Outside of work, Nathan is a huge care enthusiast who likes to modify cars as a hobby. He is married with two young children.

Louise

Louise Arnold

Job Title: Operations Manager

Joined: 2001

Louise has worked for 18 years in caring for the elderly. She started working for The Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society in 2001 as a Care Assistant. Louise then became a Senior Care Assistant and then Deputy Manager.


In November 2014 Louise was appointed as the Registered Manager of Wey Valley House. Her qualifications include NVQ3 and Diploma in health and social care level 5 in care. Louise has also had courses in first aid, health and safety, fire awareness, food hygiene, drug administration, palliative care and SOVA and keeps up to date with her personal development in the care industry. Louise has an office in both homes, sharing her time between Wey Valley House and Ridgway Court.
