Overall Experience

The staff at Hendford cared for our mother, who had advanced dementia and other medical conditions, with unstinting dedication. She was always treated with compassion, dignity, and respect, and they ensured that her time at Hendford was filled with kindness, understanding, and warmth. The staff welcomed us as a family, and I am so grateful to them for their excellent communication and for giving us precious time and steadfast support. Hendford Nursing home is highly recommended for the exceptional medical and nursing care.

The staff at Hendford are unfailingly kind and compassionate toward my father and friendly and cheerful towards us as his family. He receives great care and we are thrilled he's been able to move in. Communication is good and we are given timely and clear updates, when we visit, regarding how he's doing.

Dad is happy and comfortable and has been able to make his environment his own.

My wife spent over a month at Hendford and she was well looked after. We couldn't have found a better care home.
The staff were all very friendly and well versed in their jobs.
The food was excellent and my wife, who is a fussy enter, tucked in well.

The facilities, rooms, ensuites, were well looked after. A TV in each room. My wife who would normally not like anywhere strange told the manager that she had been quite happy there.

My mum has been a resident at Hendford for nearly 2 years. I have found the staff extremely attentive and caring for mum as her dementia and Alzheimer's is progressing. They are kind and patient and keep me informed at all levels regarding her care and management. Mum is always well presented and settled. I have found the staff are exceptional in their care for mum and they have got to know her and her idiosyncrasies. They always greet visitors with a smile and always happy to have a chat about mum and her care.

My mum was a resident for a number of years and recently passed away. My mum was always clean and appeared to be well cared for - the staff would always phone and keep me up to date with mum's care. The staff were very kind and supportive to my brother an I when my mum passed away on 17.2.25. Thank you to the entire team.

My mum has been cared for at Hendford Nursing Home since October 2021, and we could not ask for a better standard of care than the one she receives there. Sadly, her condition has inexorably declined since her admittance (for dementia) and she is now nonverbal, immobile and doubly incontinent yet the care she receives is consistently gracious, respectful and dignified.

Dementia is a horrible, cruel illness on so many levels but the staff at Hendford work diligently to ensure a level of care that is consistently excellent.

My friend was at the Home for over a year & died 15/2/25. I was her friend & visited her on a fairly regular basis over her occupation. I always found the staff very caring & helpful at all times. She had a nice room to herself with a TV, that overlooked the Home's gardens.

My Mother has been a resident at Hendford care home for many months. She has advanced Dementia amongst other diagnoses.
Throughout her stay, right from the start, all the staff have been so attentive to her every need Their attention to detail to her care is outstanding in my opinion.

The staff have taken their time to get to know Mum and her little idiosyncrasies and her likes and dislikes which helps to provide a very individual type of care. The staff have also been very supportive to us all as a family and we as a family are very grateful to all the staff for all of the above

Great care for Mum especially at end of life. Brilliant, attentive and professional staff.
Mums room was kept clean and tidy and she was always well cared for.

Regular checks on a Monday by the G.P. were reassuring and any ailments were treated in a timely fashion..

My aunt has been in the nursing home since July 2024, where the care has been very good and she has settled in well.
The care my aunt has received since she arrived in the nursing home has been of a very high standard and no complaints over the treatment she has received.

I have found the staff very helpful and friendly and have a lot of patience in dealing with my aunt.

My 90-year-old husband spent the last seven months of his life in this calm, welcoming, comfortable environment where hi every need was met with sensitivity and supportive care of a very high quality. I spent half of every day with him and have had the privilege of observing and benefitting from the quality of care provided by the carers and management.
My husband's carers were alert to him as an individual. They were patient, kind and warm-hearted. When I thanked them, they would reply with a smile, "It's my job" or "I treat our patients as if they were my parents" and they do. It was wonderfully reassuring to hear and see.

I am so very grateful for all the care Hendford Nursing Home has given me and my husband. Thank you all so much.

My father was in the home for eight years, and the care he received was fantastic, and the staff were so friendly and caring. My family could not have wished for a better home. They were very professional and kept me up to date with his care and any changes made.

My aunt was very well looked after and cared for during the 2 1/2 years she was in Hendford Nursing Home, even when her health was obviously declining. She was always clean and tidy, hair washed and brushed, skin intact and a good colour and obviously moisturised, lips not dry and chapped.
The nursing home always kept us fully and promptly informed if there were any concerns or problems.

We have no complaints and were pleased and happy with the care provided.

It was a pleasure looking after your aunt and we are so happy that we were able to celebrate her 100th birthday. We were also happy that she received a card from his Majesty. Your aunt was always grateful and polite to staff for the care she received. Thank you for your appreciation.

All staff are kind and friendly. My husband is well cared for he always looks clean, shaved and has fresh clothes on. The staff are very attentive and aware of my husband's needs and make him as comfortable as possible. The staff keep us informed of any changes to my husband's health and the premises are always very clean. There is a rule that only two people can visit at any one time we would really like it if sometimes three people could visit so we can all be together.

My overall thoughts about Hendford House, is that I wouldn't want my sister to be anywhere else. She is well cared for. The staff could not be more kind or more caring. I feel that in her own world, that's due to advanced dementia, I can't get to, she is happy. The home is clean and well maintained and despite that the patients are dementia sufferers, with all the problems related to that, it is always clean and fresh. That takes work and it is done. There are things that I can't give an opinion on, as I am not there at mealtimes and I don't pay the bill but, whatever it is, it is worth the money.

The love and care given to our mum, who sadly passed away recently were fantastic. Hendford staff loved Mum as we did, understood her humour and quirky ways and treated her with respect ensuring her dignity was paramount. We would not hesitate to recommend this amazing nursing home to anyone looking for a home for their loved one. Our Mum has vascular dementia, Hendford ensuring her needs were met and treated her with kindness ensuring her wellbeing was first and foremost. We are indebted to the staff who always kept us informed with Mums health. Thank you, Hendford staff, you helped both Mum and us through this difficult time.
